DNS stands for Domain Name Server. It provides the IP address associated with the domain name in the box. The Results - DNS In tracing through headers, DNS is used to identify the IP address associated with the given domain name, or to verify that a sending mail server's domain name matches the IP address shown in brackets next to it.
rDNS stands for reverse Domain Name System. It provides the canonical (simple) name associated with a given IP Address. The Results - rDNS
In tracing through headers, rDNS is used to identify the owner of a given IP address or to verify that a sending mail server's IP address matches the domain name shown. In some cases, no rDNS exists for a given IP address. In these cases, an IP Block Look-up can be used to determine the owner of an IP address.
