My friend (and Marcobrau correspondent) Ryan has returned from Italy having tasted some good beers and having experienced some Italian beer culture. It's still not normal as the Three Floyds brewery turns its front office into a brewpub. I got the chance to pay a visit to the Minneapolis Town Hall brewpub. It was such a good experience I may have to second the motion. I spent my vacation in search of the Mad Hatter (and other tasty finds) in Michigan. Our ever-travelling correspondent Ryan
makes his way to San Francisco to study the Magnolia Brewpub and the
famed Toronado to find The Real San
Francisco Treat.
A Quick hit at Hoppers: I visit my parents in Tampa and stop in at the Hoppers brewpub for some dinner and a sampler of brews.
Drinking
with the Forefathers: My friend Ryan traces history and finds some
tasty ales.
Steeped in history: A visit to the
Millstream Brewery.
Invasion of the
Flatlanders: Part 3.
Baumgartners, the Grumpy Troll and more star in the third part of a
series on the libations of Wisconsin.
Barleywines, bocks and other big beers all lined up along a wooden bar,
all 99 of them for the sampling. It brought to mind the old song (yes,
you
know which one) and here it was -- all made real by the owners of Delilah's.
I'm a big fan of beer -- that should be obvious
-- but one aspect of beer making that I really haven't mentioned too
much
of is the historical perspective. That's what we found a couple weeks
ago
at a tour of
breweries in Monroe and New Glarus,
Wisconsin.
Hoppy ales prove their character at
this year's Real
Ale Fest. Check out who was hoppiest. Of course, there were other
beers, too.
We visit the Three Floyd's Brewing Co., whose
motto is "It's Not Normal". At the time, the brewery just started tours at
its new location in Munster. (The beers may not be normal, but they sure are tasty.)
I took a tour of Europe the other day
and I didn't even have to got to the airport. I just went to Quenchers
Saloon for the 21st annual European Beer
Tour.
Gobble up some good beer this
Thanksgiving. Here are my picks for my favorite Thanksgiving beers.
A new (old) Budweiser shows up in
Chicago. Or is it just another new Czech beer?
Spring
Brewer's Fest strikes again in Downers Grove with another round of
Illinois best beers.
A look inside how A-B moves its product
in
Florida. Follow our friend Ryan on a beery good trip to the Sunshine
State
where he learns about the Big Red Machine.
Real Ale Fest revisted. Check out the 2001 RAF in
Chicago.
The holiday season always means holiday
beers.
Check out some that I've tried in my review Happy, Hoppy
Holiday Beers.
A Trip to the
Backroads
Brewery in La Porte, Indiana. It's worth the drive for the good
beer,
if not for the shopping at the Lighthouse Outlets in Michigan City!
The Spring
Brewer's Fest is Downers Grove, Illinois, is a great place to get
acquainted with some local brewers and their ales. Here is an account
of 2000 fest.
The Real Ale Fest 2000.
Our first RAF was a very good one with microbrewers from around the
country showcasing their fine cask-conditioned ales.
My wife never liked a lot of hops in
her beer until she met me and started drinking my beer. Now she can't
get enough hops. Listen to her story of her love of Lupulin in her
story, Confessions
of a Hop Head.
The Dairyland, a.k.a. the state of
Wisconsin is a fine place to go cheese, but an even better place to go
for beer! Check out where to go in Good Beer
Inspires Dairyland Quest.
