Nashville-based singer Doug Hoekstra toed the folk line on his third album, "Make Me Believe," and like many lone troubadours, he's been favorably compared to Beck and Bob Dylan.  Earlier this year, he released the more diverse Around the Margins, stretching out his story-songs to incorporate samples and elements of folk and jazz.
