Hoekstra has performed solo or w/duo, trio, quartet, quintet or sextet, throughout the US, Belgium, the Netherlands, England, Ireland, and Scotland, headlining or as support for the likes of the Barenaked Ladies, Big Head Todd & the Monsters, John Cale, Alejandro Escovedo, keb' mo, James McMurtry, Carrie Newcomer, Gretchen Peters, Chuck Prophet, Kim Richey, Vigilantes of Love, David Wilcox, and more. He has showcased at many of the lettered and non-lettered laminate fests here or gone - A2A, CMJ, Crossroads, Extravaganza, LMNOP, MRMF, NXNW, and of course SXSW. Not to mention ASCAP's Quiet on the Set (Fez, NY), WFUV Required Listening @ the Bottom Line, the Southern Festival of Books in Nashville, and a bunch o' "live in front of a radio audience" shows.
Many thanks to the ever-changing live band, the Doug Hoekstra Combo, that brave group of underdogs who dare to go where no man (or woman) have gone before. Spread out across the land and over the pond - California, Chicago, Nashville, New York, North Carolina, Germany, and the U.K -- they graciously lend support to Doug's efforts when he comes careening into a town near you. Past & present roster includes: Scott Baggett, Ted Bonar, Sam Bradshaw, Nirva Dorsaint, Christy Emmer, K.K. Falkner, Mark Fornek, Cliff Goldmacher, Harold the Boombox, Mark Horn, Rachel Innes, Colleen Burke Kave, Jeff Kowalkowski, Waldo LaTowsky, George Marinelli, Eric Markowitz, Mike McCurdy, Antonio Meeks, Pat Meusel, Chris Minnis, Kat Parsons, Pete Pawsey, Rick Schell, Roman Schuster, John Sieger, Allison Stanley, Audie Stanley, Chuck Tate, Sian Webley, Amelia White, and Kris Wilkinson.
