"Around The Margins is surely the kind of album swelling the borders of the art of songwriting..." Hoekstra is "one of the last original contemporary songwriters in a world more and more homogenized"
(Massimo Ferro, Radiogold Italy - Highway 61)

Amazingly, there's been considerable radio spin to all of Doug's CD releases, on commercial and non-com stations throughout the U.S.   He's appeared live on syndicated programs such as WXPN'S World Café (twice), Acoustic Café in Ann Arbor (twice), Hotel Milwaukee,  NPR's E-Town,  RADIO LIVE in Pensacola, Woodsongs Radio Hour, WPLN Songwriter Sessions (archived) as well as popping in for "live in the studio" appearances at locales stretching from Memphis (WEVL) to Nashville (WRLT); Cincinnati (WNKU) to New York (WFUV/Required Listening Series) and many others....

Internationally,  Make Me Believe, Around the Margins, and The Past is Never Past all garner(ed) play in a plethora of places, such as BBC-2 London and CMR (UK), BBC Newcastle, BBC Scotland, Radio France (France), RRR-2 FM (Australia), and outlets across Belgium, Denmark, Germany (w/special kudos to the infamous Lord Litter!), Ireland, Italy, and the Netherlands.  Hoekstra's been seen and heard live-in-person on  Gail Comfort's "Comfort Zone" & Alan O'Leary's "Guest List" @  London UK's Spyda Radio,  BBC London Drive Time Live, The Julie Hankin Show (BBC Newcastle), The Brian Morton Show (BBC Scotland), Celtic Connections (BBC Scotland)  BRTO Radio (Bergen Op Zoom, Netherlands), and  LOS Radio (Stein, Netherlands).  The discs have also been featured prominently on the fine 'net based Sisyphyus Tracks.

"…Around the Margins immediately jumped onto my fave top 100 of ALL TIME...
right next to early Floyd and later Beatles...many thanks for playing this kind of different/challenging/great music...
releases like this make all this struggle worthwhile!!!''
(Lord Litter, Berlin DJ)
