EVENING ECHO (Ireland) (November 1, 2001) by Paul Dromey May I draw your attention to the first-time visit of Doug Hoekstra, another superb singer/songwriter from the U.S. His style falls somewhere between Peter Mulvey and the aforementioned Chuck Brodsky and he is a most intelligent, perceptive and reflective narrative alternative folk writer. How do I know all this? Well, Doug sent me a copy of his very fine album "Around The Margins" a couple of months back and it really is a stunner. Doug plays Tim's Bar Limerick on Monday, The Sirius Arts Centre Cobh on Wednesday and de Barras, Clonakilty on Thursday. Return to Press |
