TIME OUT! MUSIC CONCERT PICKS by Mark Guarino

Doug Hoekstra with Greg Trooper, 10 p.m. today at Wise Fool’s Pub, 2227 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago, $8.00, 773-929-1300

Naperville-turned Nashville songwriter and guitarist Doug Hoekstra mines folk, blues and liteary-minded lyrics into highly personal songs that bring to mind the more subtle (and creepier) side of Leonard Cohen. He’s out with a collection of odds ‘n’ sods to complement last year’s "Around the Margins" album.
