We recommend that you print out the ezine, cut out each entry, & post it in these locations to make it easier for you to find when you need it. And if you like what you read, be sure to pass it on to someone else who can use it. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Easy Cobbler RecipeThis is a SUPER easy recipe for adults or kids. Preheat oven to 350, grease a 9x9 pan (8x8 can be used in a pinch), pour in two 21 oz cans of fruit pie filling (cherry, peach, apple, or blueberry), sprinkle 1/2 of box of dry yellow cake mix (save other half for another time or make 2 cobblers) on top (dry, straight out of the box-do not follow mix directions on back of box). Use a fork to spread cake mix on TOP (do not mix INTO pie filling) making ridges in the dry mix. Melt 1 1/2 sticks (3/4C) butter and pour on top of cake mix. Do NOT stir into cake mix. Tilt pan from side to side to spread melted butter evenly around mix. Don't worry if there are a few dry spots. If desired sprinkle spices on top, usually cinnamon with apple/peach filling, etc. Bake for 1 hour OR until top is golden brown. Makes a yummy crunchy crust. These are ingredients that can be kept in the cupboard almost indefinitely and put together quickly for unexpected company. Let sit 10 min before cutting, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. You may have also seen her on primetime news shows. She also writes regular articles for USA Weekend. She collects information about studies done on nutrition/natural remedies, evaluates them, and puts balanced, well-researched information, into her books regarding the same. Dr. Andrew Weil, well known for his own efforts at incorporating "alternative" medicine that works, into main stream medical institutions, highly recommends her books. Her most recent book is called "Your Miracle Brain". Other titles include "The Miracle Heart", "Miracle Cures", "The Food Pharmacy", and "Food-Your Miracle Medicine". For those of you who are a little nervous about supplements, most of her ideas actually involve food/diet changes, not just supplements. Some of her books should be available in your local library. POST IT...on your "to read/buy" list. To me, they are books you would want to have on had for reference, rather than ones you would read all the way through. Very heavily indexed. * * * * * * * Legal Help Web SiteHere is a site to help answer all those legal questions you run into from time to time. They have a legal encyclopedia with lots of articles, links, and helps. They even poke fun at themselves with a section for lawyer jokes, for lawyer friends of mine like Heidi (who finds more than I ever could. ;-). Sections on buying new homes, small claims court, small businesses, and family law. So check it out at http://www.nolo.com. POST IT...by your computer, and in any legal reference book you have. * * * * * * * Extensive TaeKwonDo GuideBecause TaeKwonDo (Korean Karate) has become one of the most popular martial arts around, I thought those practitioners among our readers might appreciate this heads up. The book, "Modern TaeKwonDo: The Official Training Manual", published in 1999 was put together by Soon Man Lee and Gaetane Ricke. It is endorsed by the World TaeKwonDo Federation and contains, a history of the sport (now a full fledged Olympic one), warm ups, basics, one step/self-defense, ALL the forms (Kibon, Taegeuk, Palgwe, all 9 black belt), tips on sparring, breaking, and rules of competition. While some of the details may be a little different from school to school, it is a very useful resource for beginners or advanced students. It retails for $17.95 and should be available through most bookstores. POST IT...by your computer, or on your shopping list. * * * * * * * Best Used Book Store ServiceSo often the best books seem to be the out-of-print ones, or you can have so many books on your list that buying them new is out of the question. I have dealt with a lot of used bookstores over the years, but none compare to Steel's Used Christian Books in Kansas City. Fortunately you don't have to live in the area to make use of their outstanding services, they will ship nationwide AND internationally. They have a wide selection. If they don't have the book you want, they will enter your info on a database and if the book comes into the store, they will call to offer it to you. The better condition, the higher the price, as it should be. They even tracked me down to a new city (w/a forwarded phone number) to see if I still wanted a book. Here is their info, including an email address for our overseas readers...Steel's Used Christian Books, 214 E. 18th Ave., North Kansas City, MO 64116, USA; phone (816)300-2665/BOOK, or 474-4330; email steels@mwis.net POST IT...in your email address book, and phone book under "Book Stores". Note: If this sounds familiar to some of our readers, I did a story on the store a while back, but their contact info has changed. Be sure to ...Make a Note of it. :-) * * * * * * * Back Issue Treasure"-Most Popular Back Issue In the Past Two Weeks
* * * * * * * JOKE (from Legal Help Web Site)"A famous lawyer found himself at heaven's gates confronting St. Peter. He protested that it was all a mistake: he was only 49 and far too young to be dead. "That's odd," said St. Peter, "according to the hours you've billed you're 119-years-old". * * * * * * * QUOTES"I have always believed and tried to show that there is no wisdom without humility. I am so grateful for the gifts that God has given me." --11-yr-old COLLEGE student Gregory R. Smith EDITOR'S NOTE: There are quite a few adults who could take a lesson from Gregory.
