Katrina
Magnolias
|
Showcased on this page are the magnolias that are captured in bloom the first year after Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast. This page pays tribute to the many magnolia trees that were killed during Hurricane Katrina on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and honors those that survived. Many magnolia trees were killed
by the strong surges of high water boring ashore; some were broken
apart by hurricane-strength winds, some were blown over and uprooted,
and many were severely damaged by strong saltwater rain. Yet, those
that are still alive have hung on and are doing their best to bloom.
In fact, some trees with almost no healthy leaves are blooming.

though they had broken boughs, |
