Thanksgiving Day Photos 1999

Dave & Veronica

Linda & Vern

Thanksgiving 1999 found Vern and Me in Phoenix, Arizona (actually Mesa), visiting my son, Davy. We decided to dine at Mimi's.

Come and join us for Thanksgiving Dinner at Mimi's Cafe...

It's elegant, yet casual. It has a style and atmosphere that is based on a New Orleans French Restaurant. The servers are efficient, friendly and polite. The menu is versatile and the variety is surprising. The atmosphere is sophisticated yet fun. The food is trendy with a Cajun accent, and everything is dee-licious. We ate four meals there in six days (including breakfast, lunch and dinner), and, as Vern said, we will keep going back until we get something that is bad... which will never happen.

So, please join us for Thanksgiving Dinner at Mimi's.

Here is the Thanksgiving Day Menu:

Doesn't it sound wonderful?

Here we are in the entrance. The Hostess seated us fairly quickly. Shown here are Dave and his friend, Veronica.

Veronica chose the French Onion Soup. The rest of us had the Nu Awlins Chicken Gumbo. It was very good. Vern told the server that he was testing them since we are from Cajun Country.
They passed the test.

A little wine with dinner is fine...

we chose a Chablis.

Some of us had the Garden Salad; some of us had the Caesar.

Vern's Gumbo sits next to the lovely silver basket of breads. They serve these breads for every meal and they are delicious!

There was no way we could finish this plate of morsels. The two kinds of potatoes, the sliced turkey over dressing, and the steamed vegetables were absolutely delectable!

Here I am, diving into that huge plate of food. I couldn't put a dent in it. A four-course meal plus bread, wine, rasberry tea is simply impossible to finish.

We all piled our leftovers into go-boxes in order to make room for dessert on the table.

I had a bite of Vern's Pumpkin Pie. It was the best I have ever eaten. I wish now that I had gotten Pumpkin Pie. When it's good,
it's very, very good.

My piece of Bread Pudding was huge! And very rich, so I only ate a little of it.

That's all, folks! The end!
We could eat no more!

Wasn't it delicious?

Every Thanksgiving from here on out will be measured against Mimi's. It was great not to have to cook!
The problem is...
There is no Mimi's anywhere close to where we live, so we won't be able to eat at Mimi's every Thanksgiving. What a shame!

For those of you who can, enjoy it for us, too.
