Burnout Alley Thingies - Page 2

1/24 Premier Cyclone "Avenger"

Gold gone wild! This one features brass AJ's rear silicones & painted Mila Miglia fronts.

Stripes are mylar tape with abstract design cut out. Motor is a stock Mabuchi 36d with the can painted to match the body.

The barbed wire design on this one is a body tatoo applied from the inside & highlighted with silver airbrush.

Rims are the magnesium Mila Miglias with Indy Grips silicones mounted on the rear.

Motor is stock Mabuchi 36d.

Here are a couple of others done with the factory type chrome striping. All cars were built with original NOS parts.

....and my latest version with Dynamic chassis

1/24 Garvic/Checkered Flag "Firebird"

Body was fresh from a NOS card. Fronts are Strombecker drag & rears are modern Pro-Track rims with Indy grips silicones mounted by George Lowe.

Instead of the stock Garvic, this one has the Checkered Flag brand anodized chassis from the 60's with stock Mabuchi 36d motor.

Body mounts & drop arm were scratchbuilt.

1/24 Testor "Alfa"

This one is totally stock in fine form.

Features the Testor drilled rims with knockoffs, aluminum sidewinder chassis & the distinctive brown endbell Mabuchi 36d motor.

1/24 AMT "Bandido"

This one is slightly upgraded, equipped with the Cox Nascar 36d motor.

It was AMT's final "hoorah" in slot racing and a very late arrival to the Thingie craze.

Chassis is stamped aluminum with adjustable wheelbase.

1/24 Cannon "Vendetta"

A score from the early days of ebay, this car is a factory original unique pearl green metallic of which I have never seen another.

Cannon used Riggen drilled aluminum rims & tires for all of their cars from the factory. They could be black or polished aluminum. This one also has remnants of the white silicone coating that once covered the rear tires.

Body by Lancer, the Vendetta's roof is a separate unit and is often times lost when these rare cars are discovered.

The car is totally box stock with the Cannon brass chassis & Vendetta "465" motor.

The Cannon chassis is reversible to accommodate either sidewinder or inline configuration.

1/24 Cannon "Batray"

This unique Thingie features a firey orange metalflake, contrasting yellow & chrome striping plus green tinted windows which looks very "factory." (I really don't know for sure) The drilled black Riggen rims are original equipment and are adorned with added Dynamic spinners. Rear tires have been silicone coated by a previous owner & grip very well.

This car was put together with original used parts. The body had been mounted on other chassis in previous years so I found a correct Cannon rolling chassis on ebay & put the two together.

The car runs very well & is a pleasure to drive.

Chassis is as mentioned, the Cannon brass sidewinder with the "Vendetta 465" motor.

1/24 Pactra "Astronaut"

Three cars all different. The two red ones are originals but, with different body molds. Notice the radiator caps in different locations.

The yellow one is a clone built & painted by Dallas Booth in 2002. It uses an original Pactra frame & motor as well as other new/old stock parts.

Chassis is the stock Pactra brass with Hemi 300 motor.

1/24 Classic "Manta Ray"

The Classic Manta Ray was the slot car that sold a million, and more. Pictured here is a rare, still shrink wrapped MIB specimen of the very popular slot car. The car holds the distinction as the first production "Thingie" built.

The other three cars represent the replacement bodies & the colors available at the time. New bodies were needed rather quickly as the kids learned the ropes of racing, or should I say "crashing."
