Remember This AS THE WORLD TURNS A bitter John reminisced with Lyla about their time together in Chicago. She threw him over for her husband, who was then a candidate for governor, John remembered. He was still intrigued by Lyla, the woman who got away. Lyla warned him to stay away from her or Dee would find out. Dee wouldn't divorce him just because of his history with Lyla, John taunted -- Lyla's beau Bob would be the one who'd have a problem with their past affair. And Lyla was keeping one whopper of a secret from John: He was Margo's father. Barbara was uneasy about riding again after falling from a horse. James was furious and forced her to continue her lessons. If she didn't, Barbara's maniacal husband insisted, she would set a poor example for Paul. Despite James's orders, Barbara canceled a lesson after she got an offer to go bacck to work full-time. Taking matters into his own hands, James arranged for the offer to be rescinded. A grieving Carol wanted Steve to take her into the mine where Jay died. Steve got nervous. As he described the circumstances of Jay's death to Carol, he had to admit he might have been able to save Jay from the collapse. Carol stopped speaking to a guilt-ridden Steve. He left her a note, offering to leave town if it would make life easier for her. But if he stayed, Steve added, there was nothing in the world he wouldn't do for her.
