Storyline: Kate's Birth.
Timeline: February 22, 1989
Background: While in Boston with Casey's family for the holiday's a very pregnant Lyla got prenatal cyadica. She was forced to stay in Boston on bedrest while Casey returned to Oakdale. Casey started to come down with flu-like symptoms, then tingling in his hands and feet. He ignored the symptoms as long as possible but after collapsing in the hospital cafeteria, he admitted himself to the hospital for some tests. The tests confirmed that Casey had Guillian-Barre Syndrome, a disorder of the peripheral nervous system. Because Lyla was so close to delivering and was having a difficult pregnancy already, Casey decided not to tell her about his GBS. Casey was partially paralyzed, but the doctors said that with a lot of therapy he might be able to regain use of his right side. When Casey got a phone call from Lyla saying she was having contractions he became determined to get out of his hospital bed and be there for his child's birth in Boston.

9. Joe Peretti (Casey's dad) prepared to be Lyla's coach in case Casey doesn't make it in time

10. A gaggle of Peretti's arrive at the hospital
11. Casey finally arrives with Craig
12. Craig helps Casey walk with his canes to get to the delivery room

13. Craig helping Casey, while his family is stunned that he's on canes
14. Tom & Margo are relieved Casey made it in time
15. Joe helps Lyla out in the delivery room

16. Casey finally arrives for the big moment
17. Lyla's overjoyed that Casey made it
18. Lyla won't give birth until she hears what's wrong with Casey, so he tells her about his GBS

19. The doctor that delivered Casey and a bunch of the Peretti's prepares for the birth

21. Lyla and Casey bring their baby into the world together

22. Out in the waiting room, Casey's grandma Rose hears the sound of a new Peretti
23. It's a Girl!!
24. Casey tells Lyla that God must've been listening to all the prayers he's said lately

25. Lyla and Casey are in awe of their daughter...

27. The nurse asks Casey if he wants to hold the baby, but he's afraid he might drop her because of his partial paralysis

28. Casey holds his daughter for the first time, with some help from Lyla and the nurse
