AS THE WORLD TURNS
Bob Hughes and Lyla Peretti

Today, Bob and Lyla work together at the hospital, but there's nary a hint the two were once pledged to wed.

When Lyla first moved to Oakdale as the divorced mom of three (Craig, Cricket, and Margo), she accepted a nursing position at University Hospital. One day, friendly Dr. Bob offered her a ride home. He admired her for being such a concerned mother; she admired him for being a nie guy and a swell physician. Slowly, their relationship progressed into an engagement.

All was well -- until John Dixon was tried for raping his wife, Dee. It was revealed that he and Lyla had been lovers while she was still married to Bart Montgomery. Furthermore, John -- not Bart -- was Margo's father. Stunned, Bob did what he felt was the right thing and broke the engagement.

Update: Bob married his true love, Kim, but their union suffered when he spent an illicit evening with Dr. Susan Stewart. Lyla found a great mate in Dr. Casey Peretti, who was cruelly cut down by Guillain-Barre syndrome. Oil man Cal Stricklyn's been paying lots of attention to Lyla and daughter Kate.
