Biography of Leona M Seufert

Leona has been a writer for most of her life. She has a background in the arts and in technology. A number of her articles have appeared on Web sites, corporate intranet sites, and newsletters. She has been published in A Professional's Resource (Almagest Services, Kenville, NJ), and Our Sunday Visitor, Inc. (Huntington, IN). In 2000 her essay Determination was a winner in the 7th New Jersey Wordsmith Competition.

Her interest in technology's impact on various areas of human existence began with her introduction to the original Star Trek series and the US space program. It is especially technology's impact (for better or worse) on our daily existence that has guided the majority of her writing efforts.

Her background also includes over 15 years of producing corporate communications. Considering herself a "communications architect" in that she works with ALL team members to build powerful and effective communications. She has done corporate collateral, worked on marketing campaigns, produced technical writing, created and edited newsletters, and did Web content creation.

Some of her current projects include her WTC Journal http://members.tripod.com/the_questress-ivil/wtcjournal/index.html which is a Web site she created after the destruction of the World Trade Center on 9/11/01. It contains her poems and essays about the tragedy. This journal continues as one of her ongoing projects, now detailing the transformation of Ground Zero.

Leona has  recently published a collection of her poems From Here To There and Back Again – a Commuter’s Journey. These are poems that tell the story of her daily commute into Manhattan over a 12 month period. Information about this chapbook is available at: http://Studio-L.home.att.net/chapbook2007.htm

When not pounding the keyboard and spewing out words, Leona likes to photograph sunsets and NYC subway station art, play with her pet turtle (yes, they do have personalities) and contribute to promoting a New Jersey gallery of which she is a Board member.
