Light Weight CO2 System
This light weight CO2 system was battled successfully in 1998 NATS. It is based on products from Palmer and Leland .
The RATS Technology Labs, in cooperation with the parent organization MAG Tri-Pact Technology Center, announce successful test completion of the Rock-the-Boat(TM) lightweight regulator, the first regulator ever specifically built for Model Warship Combat.
The prototype regulator was received from a subcontractor, Palmer's Pursuit Shop, and subjected to a rigorous test in the DD Blackjack Gearing. In spite of a slow leak in the DD pneumatic system, not related to the regulator at all, the unit fired a full magazine load (55 bb's) and then 37 bb's from a second load. A lack of CO2 capsules made it impossible to fix the leak and retest, but it appears that 1 1/2 units of firepower are assured, and two possible.
Capsule screws into the end of a cylindrical regulator. The complete system is only 6 5/8 inches long when assembled with a 16 gram Leland capsule, and the diameter is less than 7/8 inch. I will weigh this unit next week, but it is about as light as a CO2 system is going to get without NASA involvement. The outlet is a Clippard fitting, 90 degrees off axis, sized for 1/16 inch tube, and 2 inches from the end of the Rock-the-Boat(TM) regulator.
The RATS Office of Contracts and Procurement was especially complementary of Palmer's, who mobilized a crack team of experts, including the legendary Glenn Palmer AKA "Paladin" himself. Also to be commended are the efforts of Axis Rookie, Orrill Ferguson, who at great personal risk battle-tested a prototype unit during the 1998 season.
The RATS Council of Economic Ministers has authorized immediate procurement of three Rock-the-Boat Regulators. In a gesture of pure magnanimity, the Council has agreed to waive all licenses and use fees and to allow any member of any model warship combat club to purchase Rock-the-Boat regulators direct from Palmer. Ordering information is as follows:
GLENN PALMER aka PALADIN

Price is $65 plus shipping, which was $6 in my case.
Finally, an order for 300 CO2 capsules has been placed, I expect to receive them at the RATS Chicago warehouse next week. I will supply these to any RC boat builder who sends me a check for $1.25 per capsule, this is my cost including shipping in and out. The order should be in units of 10, I recommend 20 or more. This price is very low compared to retail cost at a bike shop or dive shop; two other sources for this capsule.
