The family Dulski which lived in the regions of Podolia and Red Ruthenia is of Prussian origin and takes its name from the village of Dulsk/Dolsk (near the town of Golub-Dobrzyn). In the year 1387, the brothers Piotr and Hanusz of Stangenberg (near Malbork) bought the villages of Dolsk, Kawieczyn and Modrzyn from dukes Opolski and Dobrzynski. The knight Andrzej, son of Piotr of Dolsk, testified in proceedings that had been brought against the Krzyzakom in 1413. Gotard of Dolsk, h. Gryzima, was lowczy of Dobrzyn in 1434, and Wilhelm of Dolsk was pruthenus of the Akadamy of Krakow in 1406. Jan Dulski, h. Przegonia, was made kasztelan chelminski by king Zygmunt August in 1572, and podskarbi wielki koronny, 1581. Jan's brother, Marcin, had a son named Piotr who inherited the lands of Trembowelia in Galicia and Szarawka in Podolia by his marriage to Zofia Pretficz. Piotr's great grandsons, Samuel and Jozef, later divided the lands between themselves. The estate of Szarawka, with its 19 villages, (located south and southeast of present day Khmelnytsky) remained with the family Dulski for two hundred years. It was sold at auction following the death of Antoni Dulski in 1831. Descendants of the daughters of Jan Dulski, kasztelan chelminski, include Stanislaw Kostka Zamojski, founder of the Ordynacja Library in Warsaw,* and Adam Stefan Sapieha, archbishop of Krakow.*
