Two Women, Two Aquatic Legends, One Stage

Zale Parry & Lynn Funkhouser

"Wooden Tanks And Real Sharks" features Zale Parry, best known as an actress and stunt woman on such shows as Sea Hunt, Kingdom of the Sea and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. Ms. Parry is a skin and SCUBA diving pioneer, setting an underwater record on SCUBA to 209 feet in 1954. She is one of the premiere underwater photographers, an inaugural member of The Women Divers Hall of Fame, an experimental diver and the third female SCUBA instructor in the world. She has been inducted into the International SCUBA Diving Hall of Fame, the U/W Academy of Arts & Sciences NOGI Distinguished Service Award, as well as the recipient of many awards and honors.

Zale entertained us with many stories of the early days of diving and tales from Sea Hunt starring Lloyd Bridges. She also showed some outtakes from Sea Hunt.

Lynn Funkhouser is an internationally published photographer, author, lecturer, environmentalist, adventuress and leader in dive travel. She specializes in underwater, nature, travel and environmental images. As an environmentalist, Lynn is committed to making a difference on the planet through her lectures and images. Her photos have been published in such notable magazines as Audubon, International Wildlife, Time, Newsweek and National Geographic Publications. She is an inaugural member of the Woman Divers Hall of Fame.

"Philippine Panache" featured Lynn's latest photographs---the incredible diversity & beauty of three very different areas in the Philippines: the reefs of Tubbataha, Batangas and Subic Bay. Her photographs transported the audience to this rich area reported to have the greatest species diversification in the world.

It was a very special evening
