First created in 1852 from Dakota County.
County Seat is Minneapolis.

Hennepin County is located in east central Minnesota.  Neighboring Minnesota counties include:  Sherburne county to the north; Anoka county to the northeast and east; Ramsey county to the east; Dakota county to the southeast; Scott and Carver counties to the south; and Wright county to the west and northwest.
