City of Cripple Creek's Application to Appropriate Four Mile Area Water (Spring 1999,  updated 11 Nov 2000)

What and Where is Four Mile??

Four Mile is an unincorporated community in Teller County, Colorado. Teller County is situated on the western slope of Pikes Peak, which is just to the west of Colorado Springs. The Pikes Peak Cam™ shows the eastern side of Pikes Peak - we're over the top on the other side!

Situated in the southwest corner of Teller County, Four Mile is located roughly between the towns of Florissant and Cripple Creek. The community actually crosses county borders and includes residents of Teller, Park and Fremont counties. Four Mile is just south of the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument.

For more information about living and working in Four Mile and Teller County, check out the Teller County government website and the Regional Development Corporation of Teller County website.

The Four Mile Community

We're very proud of our community and our community activities:

bulletWe believe in self-determination of our destiny, so we actively participate in the planning and zoning conversations in Teller County. Our Four Mile Planning Committee has created a vision for the future and a Four Mile Regional Action Plan.
bulletEach of the Neighborhoods in the Four Mile area has a homeowners or property owners association. Many are quite active.
bulletWe believe in working to educate our children. Cripple Creek, Lake George and Guffey public schools as well as home schools are all part of our educational landscape.
bulletWe take care of our own primary emergency fire and medical needs with Four Mile Emergency Services. We're quite proud of the fire station that we have.
bulletOur local social organization, the Four Mile Farmer's Club, takes a lead in organizing our social needs:
bulletparties for the kids and adults at Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
bulletdances whenever we can!
bulletmaintaining the historic (it's registered!) Four Mile Hall that we all use as a community meeting place.
bulletWe have a very active 4H club in cooperation with the community of Florissant: The Mountain Valley Cloverleaf club. They meet the second Thursday of each month at the Four Mile Hall. Contact Terry Snare, Christine Nieto or Jim Campbell for information.
bullet...and of course our beautiful natural environment.

Remember...
