Tombstone Inscription - Wade Slaten

Notes:

Wade Slaten (brother to Williamson Cobb Slaten) married Mary "Mollie" C. Waddell. Mary was a sister to Sarah Abigail Waddell, the spouse of Williamson Cobb Slaten; so, we have two brothers who married two sisters!

After Mary's death, Wade went on to marry two more times and rumor has it (in my family, at least, that he had 24 children) although, to date I have only tracked down 20 of them.

Many other researchers give his middle name as Hampton, but to date I have seen very little to support this. Census records for 1860, 1870 and 1880 mention his name only as Wade as does his marriage record to "M. C. Waddel". I have not examined the original records from his succeeding marriages, so I can't say if they have his middle name of Hampton on them or not; However, there is one indication that his middle name may have been Hampton, and this is found on his 2nd wife's (Malinda "Melvina" Josephine Cripps Burns Slaten) tombstone which says, "wife of W. H. Slaten"
