Notes:
William or Williamson? That is the question!
On the 1860 Limestone AL Census he is
listed as Cobb; on the 1870 as Williamson C.;
on the 1880 as W. Cobb and his tombstone
says William. I tend to believe that
his actual given name was Williamson by virtue
of the simple fact that he had an elder brother
whose name was also William. This elder
brother was commonly called "Bill" while
Williamson C. was often referred to as Cobb.
(Evidence that he was referred to as Cobb is
found in the announcement of his burial
published in the Caddo News on 16 Sep 1904.
In this article he is referred to as "Kolb" Slaten).
