Notes:

Malinda "Melvina" Josephine Cripps Burns was the second wife of Wade Slaten.

Many other researchers give Malinda's husband's middle name as Hampton, but to date I have seen very little to support this. Census records for 1860, 1870 and 1880 mention his name only as Wade as does his first marriage record to "M. C. Waddel". I have not examined the original records from his and Malinda's marriage or his third marriage to Eliza A. Bryant, so I can't say if these indicate a middle name of Hampton or not; However, the only indication that I've ever seen that tends to support the notion that his middle name is HAMPTON is found on Malinda's tombstone which says which says, "wife of W. H. Slaten"
