Notes:
H. C. Murrie was Manley W. Shanahan's brother-in-law, the spouse of his sister, Beulah "Billie" Pearl Shanahan.
Unknown at this time to which "sis" Manley is referring, for he had several. They were: Rubie Sallie Shanahan, Opal Louise Shanahan, and Crystal Shanahan. It can't have been Opal, however as she died about 1925 at only 12 years of age.
Beside the name "Tilly Bug", Billie drew and arrow to the margin and wrote, "Lois". "Tilly Bug" was Lois Clara Jean Medley Shanahan, Manley's wife and Beulah "Billie" Pearl Shanahan Murrie's sister-in-law. One of Lois' daughers remembers that "...mother's nickname came about because she was a very hard working and industrious person and so her nickname started out as "Tillie" as in "Tillie The Toiler". Somehow it transitioned into Tillie Bug and then eventually, it became Bug. The in-laws all called her Bug and she had some items with a Lady Bug on them like a pin. "
This note at the bottom of the letter is written in Billie's hand.
