        Dear Lowry & Hazel1,

After reading your second note I see that we didn't have the same things in mind. Hope you received the photographs of the letter written by great grandfather Daniel Potter2 to his daughter -- our grandmother Sallie Margaret Potter Shanahan3. Yesterday afternoon I got out my typewriter and copied some information that our precious Aunt Sallie4 has written me at different times -- which seems to be what you had in mind. I discovered that my typing was a little rusty -- it is fine with me if you have a steno. to retype it and make as many copies of it as you care to. I also have--but can not find--a more complete history written by Aunt Nora Shanahan Phillips5. The reason she knew more than Aunt Sallie was because she was older and remembered more. Believe Aunt S. was the youngest of 5 children. I have sent several copies of this to Mississippi; also copies for my brothers and sisters and my children Daniel G. Murrie and Colleen Murrie Hensley. When I can locate mine I'll make it available to our Reunion

Family.
I might tell you, for the record, that years before the Stewart-Shanahan was organized, my brother Manley6 and I talked extensively of getting all available material together -- that I would either write it up myself or get my journalistic friend to write it -- and Manley would have it printed in booklet form. We never did this -- so since there is so much that so many of the cousins know that we don't and since it will be for the greater good of us all -- it seems best for the Clan that it be combined with all available information that can be brought forward. And this be combined in a way that it will be available to all the kin that want it. I'll be glad to make a monetary contribution to that end. Incidentally I know a few absolutely marvellous events7 that I've heard Dad (D. P. Shanahan) tell many times that are not in the record. Feel sure all of the cousins know at least one thing that the others do not know. Our combined knowledge could make something interesting and authentic.
Lowry -- thank you so much for inviting me to go to Mississippi with you. Just can't make it this time--but plan to go see Aunt Sallie by Fall. Hazel have a wonderful time in Europe! Lowry if you can come by Kermit--spend one night with us.

Love, Billie8

[written along left margin of 2nd page] Lowry -- Please make this letter available to Will & Catherine9 (aren't they fine) since I'm sending the CC to Manley.

[written in top margin of 2nd page] I did want to say that I feel that any information given to you or Will falls into honorable hands.
