New Jersey Devils NHL hockey team
Here's another minifig project I've been working on using inkjet waterslide decals. I plan on making a 2004 14-man roster in away and eventually home colors (I'd originally planned on making the home team, but forgot they switched the sweater colors the last NHL season they played). After the Devils are done, I will of course fashion an opponent. Probably either Philly or the Rangers, though I loathe the sweater design of both clubs as much as I dislike the teams themselves. However, my brother is a (loooooooong-suffering) Rangers fan, and I'd rather spend my customizing time doing something someone else will get a kick out of, too.
Brodeur's goalie pads are a combination of modified legs (a 1x1 plate has been welded to the front of his pants) and modified 1x2 tiles.
I first attempted Devils hockey minifigs a few years ago. Here are pictures of that first attempt:
As you can hopefully tell, I improved the process of making the sweater and socks decals. Rather than using a bitmap program (Adobe Photoshop) as I did in my first attempts at mad-modding minifigs, I've learned how to use a vector graphics program (CorelDRAW!) efficiently. Also, upgrading my inkjet printer from my 8 year old Epson helped . The results are super-crispy graphics.
