Members can enter a total of four images in all media with a maximum of three in any one category. See the Digital Categories section below for the categories.
All images must be .jpg fils and must fit within a 1050 x 1050 pixel matrix. That means the longest side (either width or height) is 1050 pixels.
Colors look the best when the digital images submitted use sRGB color space. If your photo editor gives you this option (as does Photoshop), please select this color space for your digital submissions. If your photo editor does not have that option, then you will have to submit your images in the default color space of your editor.
As shown on the updated Digital Image Submission Form, the category codes are CA for Color A, CB for Color B, PJ for Photo Journalism, CR for Creative, NA for Nature, and TR for Travel.
The image file names must be in the format of a prefix which consists of the characters "LG" (for Los Gatos-Saratoga Camera Club), a hyphen (-), the two-character category code (see above) and a hyphen (-) followed by the full title of the image with the first letter of each word capitalized. There should be no space character between the last hyphen in the prefix and the first character of the title. Words in the title should be separated by a single space character. (No underscore or hyphen characters.) For a Nature image, the title should include the Latin or scientific name in parenthesis. The total length of the title, including the prefix, should be no more than 128 characters. Please do NOT include your own name in the file name. It will disqualify your image.
Examples:

LG-NA-Beautiful Bird Landing On Top Of Tree (Beautifulus Birdus).jpg
The Description metadata must include the photographer's name in Author and the complete title (including scientific names in Nature) in Description.
The Digital Competion Files document can be downloaded in PDF format.
It includes more detailed information on how size, change the color space, add metadata, and name your digital images for competition.
Entries can be submitted either on a CD or emailed to Steve Stark at stark.s@comcast.net (unless another member of the digital committee is listed on the Calendar).
CDs should be submittted at the program meeting prior to the Digital competition. Email entries must be received no later the Wednesday five days before the Monday competition. NO SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE DEADLINE.
The top surface of the CD or your email message must include your name, your telephone number, and the Competition Date.
The CD should be placed in an entry envelope with a printed copy of the Digital Image Submission Form that can be downloaded in Word format attached.

Digital Categories
Digital projected image categories match the film Slide categories. The Club Calendar shows the categories for each competition. The Digital categories include the following:
Color A and B
There are two groups, A and B, for the Color category but the other categories are not divided.
New members, regardless of their level of photographic experience, start in the Color B (Basic) group.
The Color A (Advanced/Active) group is comprised of those who win sufficient points in competition.
Membership in the Color A and B groups is determined annually. For 2009 it was based on total points for all media.
Digital Winners on the Web Site
This web site includes small jpg files of the images that placed first, second, and third in each category. The digital committee formats copies of the digital winners and emails them to the web master. Instructions for formatting images for the web site is available for download in Word format.
