The following snippets of information are based on reports from persons generally considered to be reliable when sober. Partly due to the time gap between some events covered in 3030 Update and publication, there can be no guarantee of timeliness or absolute accuracy. The only promise editors can make is that this newsletter aims to celebrate the enduring bonds of friendship and fond memories of working together at a great company. Please send additions and corrections and information on the whereabouts and activities of alumni to Lewis Nolan for future publication.

thoroughbred race horses. He also serves as consultant to a Memphis-based,
ethnic hair company and on the board of
Phoenix-based Medicis, a publicly traded pharmaceutical company. At the party, Bill Sander related how he had stopped at the S-P plant at Cleveland, Tenn., while

meets monthly in the HCP cafeteria, was formed in July, 1972 and "is still
a viable organization because of good leadership and loyal membership that
embraces the concept of food, fun and fellowship." In July, PERK observed
its 30th Anniversary with a special lunch and a presentation by Rick
Haynes, then executive director of the Plough Foundation. He shared with
the group several of the principles Mr. Plough used for running the Foundation,
including: 1. Help the greatest number of people. 2. The most knowledge you get
is from other people. 3. Be loyal to your people. 4. Finish everything you
start. 5. Get satisfaction from your work. 6. Character is defined by what you
do in the “dark.” 7. The price of leadership is fraught with criticism. Total
attendance for PERK meetings the previous 12 months was 515. Another
well-received speaker was retiree Phil Gilmer, who traced the company’s
history and talked about the company during his 38 years as being “part of our
lives, part of our family.”

elected president of the first board of directors. The volunteer post is
requiring him to put in very long days to transform the previously
developer-subsidized club into an ongoing, fiscally sound operation. He also
serves as treasurer of the community’s charity fund-fundraiser. Plus, he finds
time to fly his own airplane. . .Dave
Collins divides his time between homes in Manhattan, the Nevada side of
Lake Tahoe and near Woodstock, Vermont. He is usually at Incline Village, Nev.,
from January until April. At an altitude of 7,000 feet, the location gives him
the flexibility to ski in the morning and play golf at nearby Reno in the
afternoon. He has been invited to teach a class in corporate social

in the U.S. and global sales of $9 billion. Steve and his wife, Diane,
celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in 2002. . .Bill Gwinn is living in Brentwood, TN,
and working as Director of Marketing and New Business Development for The
Medstat Group, a health information company. He was featured speaker at a
pharmaceutical conference on new drugs. He serves as an usher team captain for
Brentwood Baptist Church. . .Burt and Mary Hunter continue to
travel the world. He is an international attorney for S-P. They renovated their
home in Northern New Jersey to house Burt’s collection of classic cars, which
include a 1966 Morgan, a 1961 Rolls Royce and a 1954 Jag. Mary quips that “with
these cars, Burt can draw large crowds of very attractive young ladies.
Therefore he is not allowed to go out alone in those cars”. . .Lee Jenkins, who lives in Wellington, FL, reports that he is “hale and hearty.
Sylvia and I are playing golf and spending time with our children and
grandchildren.” He is seeing more sunrises since Pattycake – a wire haired
terrier – joined his household. Lee visits Memphis occasionally for board
meetings of RFS Hotel Investors and to
see friends and one of his sons and his family. The war with Iraq took on a
personal face when Lee’s other son, Griff, was attached to a Marine Corps unit
in Kuwait as part of an assignment with Fox News. Griff produces a syndicated
radio show for Ollie North. . . .Kathy
Jones retired from S-P Sept. 1, 2002 and lives with her husband in their
waterfront home in Melbourne Beach, FL. She reports that she is “almost totally
recovered” from a horrifying attack by a German Shepherd while walking near
their former home in Clark, NJ last May. She was severely injured during the
savage attack, which required hospitalization and lengthy and painful rehab.
Kathy enjoys retirement, watching shorebirds and other wildlife from her yard
and the absence of New Jersey winters.

husband, who live near Charleston, SC, had their third child May 25, a girl
named Mary MacGregor and nicknamed “Molly.” They visited Memphis in October for
the 10th Reunion of her class at Rhodes College. . .Dick Kinney left
active employment in November as staff vice president in charge of federal,
state and local lobbying as well as philanthropy for S-P. A delayed retirement
arrangement allowed him to join the staff of New Jersey Gov. James McGreevey as
an economic policy advisor and to serve as an “ambassador” to the state’s business
community. Dick has been with the company for 21 years and noted, “I have been
blessed to have met and worked with a tremendous number of people who have
helped me, taught me and influenced my life.” Dick has an office in the state
capitol of Trenton but continues to live in Spring Lake, NJ. . .Also leaving
S-P after 13 years was Theresa Wood, a member of Dick’s Washington

agency, before joining Plough .. . . Robert
Maxwell, who lives in Princeton,
NJ, has formed Reviresco, Marketing by Design, a consulting firm specializing
in marketing commercialization. When not working, he annoys the animal rights
crowd by roaring around the Northeast wearing “biker leathers” from head to
toe. In biker parlance, his Valkyrie motorcycle is so bad-looking that “it is
just sick, dude, sick.” . .Loretta
Milesi has moved to a new home at
Manchester, NY, a community on the New Jersey shore. She said she loves her new
home and retirement. . . Gerry
Nobrega and his wife sold their business in Paradise Valley, AZ, last
summer. They plan to travel for the next couple of years to look at possible
retirement homes . .Former Maybelline marketer Irene (McCullough) Pritchett is
living in Erlanger, Ky., with her husband and their three children. She reports
that she enjoys retirement. . .Bob Raub
continues to teach tennis at the country club community in Parrish, FL where
he, his wife and their neighbors Rich and Jane Carlsen live and play golf. The
Raubs hosted the Texas A&M women’s golf team playing in a major NCAA
tournament at their club in February. They also served as hosts for Stetson
University’s Elderhostel Tennis Camp at the plush Palm Coast Resort on the east
coast of Florida . .Claudia Robinson, who lives in Greenwich Village,
parted company with UBS Americas Inc., the Swiss-based owner of Paine Webber
and other global securities firms. She had been director of employee
communications. In February, UBS joined many Wall Street firms in scaling back
staff in the face of the slumping U.S. stock market. Claudia is enjoying the
opportunity to do some reading for pleasure while she looks for another
communications position. . .Bob Schreiber, who lives in Sarasota, FL, celebrated with his wife their 50th

traveling frequently, including a Caribbean cruise and trip to the West Coast
to visit family. . .Another Plough retiree, Mike Swider, is among the
colony of Plough veterans living in Sarasota. Mike, who traveled to Memphis to
participate in the annual 3030 Alumni Golf Scramble in October, lives in a golf
course community. His other hobbies include fishing. . .A family photo that
included Andrea Jeannet and her and Art
Jeannet’s two daughters was on thousands of Christmas cards sent out by her
parents, Tennessee Gov. Don and Martha Sundquist, who left office in early 2003
after eight distinguished years of service and long-running friendships with
many Plough execs dating to his time in the U.S. Congress. . .Melissa
(Tuttle) Twomey has a fantasy job, a real fantasy position. The former
media buyer for Lake-Spiro-Shurman lives in Tampa, FL, with her husband of 15
years and their two boys. After leaving the former Plough Sales and regional
marketing office in Tampa, where she worked with Jim Erwin, Melissa
became marketing director of the Lowry Park Zoo. After 14 months, she was hired
by the New York Yankees as marketing director for the team’s new spring
training, single A stadium in Tampa. In 1994, she took over the management of
the Yankee Fantasy Camp, where adult fans pay big bucks to train for a week
with Yankee coaches and former players. The fantasy players are treated like
real major leaguers, complete with Yankees uniforms and equipment plus the
excitement of umpired games at Tampa’s Legends Field. Melissa works from her
home and runs two camps per year, with 100 players in each camp. While nearly
all the campers are men, there have been three women go through the program. Information
is available at a website, at http://www.yankeesfantasycamp.com/.
Melissa frequently visits family in Memphis and writes, “Life has been very
good to me and I am grateful. It all started at 3030 – those were the days!”. .

included Sherry Betancourt, Richard Briscoe, Jorgen Lindeskov, John Morris,
Svend Nielsen, Fred Opper, Raul Ordonez, Helen Sievers, Al Stamps and Bill
Wilkins. Dimitri Georgiadis couldn’t make the meeting but called and spent
an hour on the telephone talking to attendees.. . .Linn Weiss, based in Chicago
as the AMA’s senior vice president for public policy and related communications
matters, continues to be in the thick of the legislative fight over medical
liability insurance reform and Medicaid payments to physicians. His travel has
him setting off security monitors at airports across the country; metal pins
were inserted in his wrist, broken when a Chicago bus bounced him in the air
when walking across a springy bridge on a wintry day early in 2002. . .Karen Whitaker, who lives in San Jose, writes that she and her husband went to
California’s wine country on vacation. She works in executive search, a
headhunting business that has markedly slowed because of the sagging
economy. . .Rich Whittaker, who continues with S-P in New Jersey, stays
in touch with several former HCP associates. Rich and Rich Carlsen enriched
themselves by $6 each courtesy of another golf team when they got together for
a round and friendly bet in August. Both shot in the 80s.
It is with
regret and sadness that 3030 Update notes the deaths over the last year of Ray Castle of Plough Sales, John
Molnar of Security Services, Stella Rogers of Plough Sales, Al
Seip of Plough Sales and William
Scholl, who served on the board of
directors of Schering-Plough.
