Photo provided in early 2005 by Patrick Hoffman, descendant of Irish Immigrant Andrew Nolan,
that he thinks is Henry E. Nolan, oldest son of Andrew's son Chris. The photo was in the collection
of Andrew's daughter, Julia (Nolan) Hoffman, who was Patrick's great-grandmother. A barely legible notation on
the bottom of the photo says Bauer Bros (possibly a photography studio), Duluth and (unreadable). Persons
with any information about the photo or young boy are asked to contact Patrick or webmaster Lewis Nolan.
George Napjus of Maryland and Lithuania, like Patrick a great-great grandson of Andrew Nolan, responded to
Patrick's request for information by writing, "I am less certain that the young lad in the Duluth photo is indeed
Henry E. 'Harry' Nolan, son of Chris T. Nolan. Chris and Maggie did live for a time in Superior (across the
state line from Duluth) and Harry was very likely born there (October, 1890). But the family left Wisconsin
shortly afterward and the next two children, Edna (February 1892) and Gertrude (April 1894) were born in
Washington. Subsequent children were born in Montana. Two of Andrew's younger sons remained in Superior however,
Stephen (born 1869) and Edgar (born 1871). I don't believe that Stephan ever married, and if he did it
was much later. Edgar had many children, though, including his first son Heber. Heber was born in 1895 in
Superior. Chris worked for the Great Northern Railroad, and was provided with free rail travel for his
family. It is possible that the photo is indeed of Harry, taken during a visit to Wisconsin to see his
uncles. To me it seems more likely that the Duluth photo is of Heber, however."
