Time and Me
Where did the time go?
I can't believe it -- oh, no, please...
And where'd my heart go?
It was right here -- why can't you see...
I need it to go on, oh, please.

The hours have run together like the colors of a dream
and everything I thought I knew is no longer what it seems.
My songs are all a medley, like a long, sad symphony
and now the dawn approaches...
can't she see
what she's done
to time,
time and me?

Where did the music go?
Can you hear it -- listen with me...
And what about that "long ago?"
How could you know -- how could it be...
this way you see through me?

The words that I'd forgotten, like promises to keep
remind me of another time, of forests lush and deep.
Why must the stars so quickly journey nightly from the east?
even now the dawn approaches...
can't she see
what she's done
to time,
time and me?

Where did the answer go?
Did you have it -- or was it me...
What Wise One will restore us?
Who'll make it right -- and let us be...
just what we choose to be?

Like brave, bold Lancelot, I'll hurry forth my steed
I'll seize the hour that streaks away, that runs in fear of me.
I'll capture time within my dreams, and keep it ever safe for thee.

Lo, now the dawn approaches...
if only she could see
what she's done
to time,
time and me.
