Goodness Sake
Seasonal Joy in children's bright smiles,
twinkle-burst eyes like stars in the night,
rich blues and greens; cool candycane stripes,
cookies and carolers and other delights.

Magical etchings, white frost on the pane,
the wonder and awe of knowing He came,
hot country gravy with biscuits and jam,
music at midnight; then snowfall begins.

We long for those times of simpler things,
remembering the sweet balsam scent of the trees,
and yet, all around us, it's so plain to see,
it's faith that takes us to where we should be.

It's Love, that's the gift we all ought to give,
it's caring and sharing the burdens we live.
He came to undo mankind's fallen state,
to restore us to grace for His goodness' sake.
