The location of this campground makes it most suitable for local weekenders, and it's very popular. No reservations allowed, so most folks who live in the area bring in a rig on Thursday night to grab a spot for the weekend. For holiday weekends, you'll need to get there Wednesday morning. The lake side sites are beautiful and shaded, and are always the first to go. There's a power plant across the lake which makes funny (and loud!) noises occasionally, but otherwise it's a peaceful, well-run, and much loved campground. Campers pick up loads of free firewood from a lumber mill scrap pile located at the intersection of Hwy 27 and Crystal Springs Road. The lake is pristine, and the public facilities in/around the campground itself are clean and well-kept.
