Note from Richard Stevens:
I was asked why I thought the immature swans were Tundra Swans.
The small size, rounded head, and curve at the gape were my first clues.
I thought cheeks to be quite rounded as well as the head.
The all black feet looked darker than I would expect for an immature Trumpeter.
Finally, notice the red bill on the photo of the one immature.
An immature Trumpeter would always show black at the base of its bill.
Concerning adult bird, during the 2 hours I watched the swans, they
eventually flew to the other end of Grand Lake. The adult swan gave
a call that was consistent with that of a Trumpeter Swan!
