The Wakefield Educational Foundation (WEF) is a Massachusetts incorporated, nonprofit, tax-exempt foundation, founded in 1989 by a group of concerned citizens. The foundation was created to act as a support organization to the public educational system in Wakefield. The mission is to provide a vehicle for the community to acknowledge, support and promote academic excellence. Since its founding, WEF has provided over $68,000 in mini-grants to fund special programs for students. WEF has awarded grants totaling $12,000 during the 2005-2006 school year.
