   What you'll need:
 
  2   lbs. taro root
  2/3   cup granulated sugar, white
  12   dried red dates
  1/2   tablespoon sesame seeds, white
  3   tablespoons corn oil

  4.   Blend taro cubes and 2/3 cup sugar in large bowl at low speed until taro cubes smashed completely.

  5.   Grease saucepan with 3 tablespoons corn oil, pour taro paste into pan, stir constantly over low heat for 20 minutes* so the paste becomes thicker. Remove from heat.

  6.   Pour taro paste in bowl, decorate with red dates, sprinkle sesames on top. Serve. Makes 5 servings.

  Directions:
 
  1.   Soak red dates in warm water for 1 hour, cook with 2 cups water for 10 minutes over high heat. Fry sesames in saucepan over high heat for 4 minutes.
  2.   Peel taro; dice into 0.5" thick cubes. Combine taro cubes with 6 cups water in stockpot, bring to a boil for 40 minutes* over high heat. Make sure taro cubes is soft enough.
