| More about The T-Square Ranch, NM and The Bonita Ranch, AZ For pictures and progress please log on to http://T-SquareRanch.blogspot.com The T-SQUARE RANCH...was a dream come true for me. Ever since I can remember it was on my "to-do" list to own acreage. Be it 5 acres, 10 or 20+, I wanted to be out in the middle of nowhere, with only land around me for as far as the eye could see. You're right, I'm not exactly a "people person". Being a designer, I like to spend a lot of quiet time alone. I've always felt comfortable in nature, so that's why I believe that the middle of nowhere is the best place to be. Years later, after moving to the Southwest, that dream was drawn on paper, as if it were an ad in a magazine...The T-Square Ranch, shown with a lone fenced road, craggy limestone edged mesas in the background. A few years later came a more specific drawing....a road on the left, a meadow, a large area of trees which I quickly and unconsciously sketched in the shape of Africa, more meadow, a mountain in my backyard...a river nearby. It was one of those "my mouth to God's ear" moments, which has happened a couple of times in my life. Just at the right time, (is there any other kind?) a 48 acre parcel of property was for sale in Central Western New Mexico. Lo and behold, and to my astonishment, when I viewed it later by aerial photograph, it was exactly the way I had drawn it. Never mind that the river is now a very deep, dry ravine. I have no doubt that it was once a viable water source for the Native American "community" that once dwelled on our property. The T-Square Ranch became a reality, the last big to-do came off of the list in November, 2005. It was christened with my first T-Square from Art School. The property is at 6800 ft, so it gets a little cold and snowy in the winter, which is why it became necessary to look for a "winter place", which led to the purchasing of... THE BONITA RANCH...is a 36 acre property northeast of Tucson, Arizona. It is about 15 miles south of Aravaipa Canyon for you outdoor enthusiasts who might be familiar with that area of Arizona. I had no specific designs for this property, as I hadn't had plans for another property. The T-Square Ranch will hopefully be my main residence in the near future. There are specific CC&R's and Deed Restrictions with the Bonita Ranch property that will have to be hurdled before building, never mind the big wash that will have to be crossed before getting to a suitable section of land for a house site. But it's warmer for the most part than the New Mexico Ranch in the winter time. At apx. 4200 ft, it is still considered "high desert" and the Yuccas and various Cactus are a welcomed addition to the property, which is something that is not found on the T-Square Ranch. Yes, I'm feeling extremely blessed for being able to own both properties. Oh yes, guests with building skills, and who don't mind primitive conditions, are always welcomed!!! Peace and quiet are in abundance out in the middle of nowhere! |
