Born Karen Dale Stefaniak, the artist, author, designer and photographer was raised in Dearborn, Michigan. Growing up, her interests were photography, designing, and art history, which she was able to experience on a more personal level by traveling extensively around the world. Her travels took her to Africa, Austria, Great Britain, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Thailand, also areas in the Caribbean and the South Pacific. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Advertising/Graphic Design from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After graduation Karen completed her goal of moving to Arizona where she was able use her multi-faceted skills in the areas of photography, illustration and advertising design. Another of her goals was realized when she was able to teach a variety of art classes, all of which she found extremely rewarding.
Yet another goal was realized when Karen began writing several screenplays in 1990, and went on to publish the novel, For The Sake of Appearances in 1997 based on the first screenplay she had produced. After becoming acquainted with many local artists, she was elected president of Fountain Hills Art League, and was asked to sit on the board of directors for the local Arts Council. Karen also formed and directed the Cornerstone Artists to help lend moral support and expertise to local artists and artist acquaintances around the country.
Karen continues to work on a variety of design and writing projects, and looks forward to completing several more manuscripts in the next few years, which will be turned into books on tapes or possibly be produced as theatrical or radio plays.
