What's In A Name

"WHERE DO YOU GO WHEN THERE IS NOWHERE ELSE TO RUN TO?"
"WHO DO YOU TURN TO WHEN NO ONE ELSE WILL LISTEN?"

Proverbs 18:10 "The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous runs into it and is safe."

Psalm 138:1-3 "I will give Thee thanks with all my heart; I will sing praises to Thee before the gods. I will bow down toward Thy holy temple, And give thanks to Thy name for Thy lovingkindness and Thy truth; For Thou hast magnified Thy word according to all Thy name. On the day I called Thou didst answer me; Thou didst make me bold with strength in my soul."

When you need a shelter, when you need a friend, whenever you are afraid, there is someone you can turn to who knows you by name. He knows what you are going through because he has gone through that circumstance for you. There is a name above every situation you may encounter in your life.

The name of God reveals the character of God. The Hebrew name for God is 'el. In the Hebrew text it means 'strength, mighty, especially the almighty God'. There are hidden treasures in the Holy Word of God that reveal the nature of God through His name. In I Samuel l:3 He reveals Himself as The Lord of Hosts, Jehovah-sabaoth; in Exodus 15:26 as The Lord Your Healer, Jehovah-rapha; in Exodus 31:13 The Lord Who Sanctifies, Jehovah-mekoddishkem; in Psalm 23:1 The Lord is My Shepherd, Jehovah-raah; and in Exodus 34:14 as the LORD whose name is Jealous, Qanna.

Step inside and look at His divine nature through the men and women in history who chose to call on the name of God in times of joy and of sorrow and in times of trouble and of peace.
