CHRISTMAS PARTY HELD
The club Christmas party was held December 10th at Little
Siena. The upper room was full as
Knobbies met to eat, exchange pleasantries, swap lies, and play “Mad
Christmas”. As usual, the buffet was
delicious, the camaraderie was great, and the “Mad Christmas” game showed how
much fun we can have without coming to blows!
After the game ended, Danny Wilson showed a twenty-minute video compiled of
pictures of Knobbies and friends. The
video begins with a remembrance of those who have passed away. It then shows Knobbies enjoying different
rides, rallies, and campouts throughout the chapter’s history. It is amazing that almost all club members
are present in this video, including two of our Canadian Knobbies, Dale Murray
and Ann Fillmore.
This video is a wonderful, historical keepsake for those
who treasure their Knobby friends and the fun we’ve had on rides, at rallies,
and at campouts. You may purchase a
copy of this video from Danny Wilson.
You can call him at (828) 397-6419 or e-mail him at
sharonzwilson@peoplepc.com
The cost is $20, and it is well
worth the price.

CAMPOUT 2001 BEING PLANNED
Our Knobby campout for this year is in the planning
stage. Please bring any ideas you have
for a site or agenda to the January business meeting. To help you think about what you want this year’s campout to be,
please consider the folowing questions:
Do you know of a great
campground you’d like the Knobbies to visit?
What did you like about our past campouts? What didn’t you like about our past campouts?
If you haven’t come to our past
campouts, is the reason something we can fix? Do you want to have a campout on
the Blue Ridge Parkway? At Two Wheels Only?
At Fontana? At the 1986 Maggie
Valley site? At the Outer Banks? How far is too far?
In other words, we need to know your thoughts on this
matter before we choose a location. The
Knobby Campout chairs will appreciate your input at the January meeting. * * *
LETTER
RECEIVED
We received a follow-up letter from the Pediatric Brain
Tumor Foundation, thanking us for our $1,755 donation on June 24, 2000. We will again plan some events during the
year to raise money for this worthy cause.
If you have some good ideas about how to raise money, please let us know
at the January meeting.
According to the Ride for Kids brochure, the 2001 ride
nearest us will be held August 26th in Asheville. The ride will start at the Builtmore Square Mall, which is 1/2
mile south of exit 2 off I-26.
Registration starts at 7:00am and closes at 8:45am. The ride will begin at 9:00 sharp, rain or
shine, and will end at Lake Lure. Free
donuts and coffee and a light luch will again be provided.
Hopefully, this year more of us will stay for the
Celebration of Life, which directly follows the ride. It is at this function that we will hear the testimonies of those
cancer patients and of their families whose lives our donations have
helped. It makes the reason for raising
the money a little more precious to us.
We will be hearing more about this event as time passes,
and we’d appreciate knowing your ideas on how to raise money to help these
young cancer patients. Oh, yes. The grand prize this year is a Honda
motorcycle. Does that add
incentive? * * *
KNOBBY
INJURED
Danny Wilson recently received an e-mail from Knobby
Steve McCord. Steve was injured just
before Thanksgiving from falling off his bicycle after hitting a dog during a
ride. As a result of the accident,
Steve suffered a ruptured disk in his lumbar region and was scheduled to have back
surgery at Baptist Hospital on January 15th.
If you’d like to wish him well, ask Danny Wilson at the January meeting
how to contact Steve.
And just for the record, there’s still no word on the
condition of the dog. * * *
