The first concern was for storage space on my server. With new compression codecs for audio files like MP3, I could probably still make at least some of my files available, but then comes problem #2. Copyright laws. If sites like soundamerica have had to remove sound files because of threats of lawsuits from the owners of said sounds, then I dont have a chance. I am not a big time webmaster, with a flock of lawyers to battle it out with someone else's flock of lawyers, so that in the end, nobody wins, but the flocks of lawyers. At this time, it appears as if Twentieth Century FOX is the most active in trying to shut down fan run websites. For some very informative reading, see the soundamerica FAQ section about copyright law, and the problems they have had to deal with. There you'll find the address of FOX's lawyer, so you can make your opinion known. I have always liked the FOX network. Thier programming usually appeals to me, and the fact that they we're able to fight "The Big Three" and give them a real run for the money. But how could FOX think that, individuals being able to download small "bites" of thier programming for thier own enjoyment, could possibly be cutting into thier pockets? If anything, this "Internet connection" only helps to promote the shows, and is, essentially, FREE advertising.
