HERE,HEREAFTER,THERE
STRING = HERE
2: 4 And who believe in the Revelation Sent to thee, And sent before thy
2: 4 time, And (in their hearts) Have the assurance of the Here after.
2: 8 Of the people there are some who say: " We believe in Allah and the
2: 8 Last Day;" But they do not (really) believe.
2: 20 The lightning all but snatches away Their light; every time the
2: 20 light (Helps) them, they walk therein, And when the darkness grows
2: 20 on them, They stand still. And if Allah willed, He could take away
2: 20 Their faculty of hearing and seeing; For Allah hath power over all
2: 20 things.
2: 20 SECTION 3.
2: 22 Who has made the earth your couch, And the heaven your canopy; And
2: 22 sent down rain from the heavens; And brought forth therewith Fruits
2: 22 for your sustenance; Then set not up rivals unto Allah When ye know
2: 22 (the truth).
2: 23 And if ye are in doubt As to what We have revealed From time to
2: 23 time to our servant. Then produce a Sura Like thereunto; And call
2: 23 your witnesses or helpers (if there are any) besides Allah, If your
2: 23 (doubts) are true.
2: 25 But give glad tidings To those who believe And work righteousness,
2: 25 That their portion is Gardens, Beneath which rivers flow. Every
2: 25 time they are fed With fruits therefrom. They say: "Why, this is
2: 25 What we were fed with before, For they are given things in
2: 25 similitude; And they have therein Companions (pure and holy); And
2: 25 they abide therein (for ever).
2: 30 Behold, thy Lord said to the angels: "I will create A vicegerent on
2: 30 earth," They said, "Wilt Thou place therein one who will make
2: 30 Mischief therein and shed blood?- Whilst we do celebrate Thy
2: 30 praises And glorify Thy holy (name)?" He said: "I know what ye know
2: 30 not."
2: 35 We said : "O Adam ! dwell thou And thy wife in the Garden; And eat
2: 35 of the bountiful things therein As (where and when) ye will, but
2: 35 approach not this tree, Or ye run into harm and transgression."
2: 38 We said: "Get ye down all from here; And if, as is sure, there
2: 38 comes to you Guidance from Me," whosoever Follows My guidance, on
2: 38 them Shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.
2: 39 "But those who reject Faith And belie Our Signs, They shall be
2: 39 Companions of the Fire. They shall abide therein."
2: 39 SECTION 5.
2: 41 And believe in what I reveal, confirming the revelation Which is
2: 41 with you And be not the first to reject Faith therein, nor sell My
2: 41 Sign For a small price; and fear Me, And Me alone.
2: 49 And remember, We delivered you From the people of Pharaoh; they set
2: 49 you Hard tasks and punishments, slaughtered Your sons and let your
2: 49 women folk live; Therein was a tremendous trial from your Lord.
2: 52 Even then We did forgive you; There was a chance for you To be
2: 52 grateful.
2: 53 And remember We gave Moses the Scripture and the Criterion (Between
2: 53 right and wrong): there was A chance for you to be guided aright.
2: 58 And remember We said: "Enter this town, and eat Of the plenty
2: 58 therein As ye wish; but enter The gate with humility, In posture
2: 58 and in words, And We shall forgive you your faults And increase
2: 58 (the portion of) Those who do good."
2: 60 And remember Moses prayed For water for his people; We said:
2: 60 "Strike the rock With thy staff." Then gushed forth Therefrom
2: 60 twelve springs. Each group knew its own place For water. So eat and
2: 60 drink Of the sustenance provided by Allah And do no evil nor
2: 60 mischief On the (face of the) earth.
2: 63 And remember We took Your Covenant And We raised above you (The
2: 63 towering height) Of Mount (Sinai) (Saying); "Hold firmly To what We
2: 63 have given you And bring (ever) to remembrance What is therein:
2: 63 Perchance ye may fear Allah."
2: 64 But ye turned back thereafter: Had it not been for the Grace And
2: 64 Mercy of Allah to you, Ye had surely been Among the lost.
2: 74 Thenceforth were your hearts Hardened: they became Like a rock and
2: 74 even worse In hardness. For among rocks There are some from which
2: 74 Rivers gush forth; others There are which when split Asunder send
2: 74 forth water; And others which sink For fear of Allah. And Allah is
2: 74 Not unmindful of what ye do.
2: 78 And there are among them Illiterates, who know not the book But(see
2: 78 therein their own) desires And they do nothing but conjecture.
2: 79 Then woe to those who write The Book with their own hands And then
2: 79 say: "This is from Allah," To traffic with it For a miscrable
2: 79 price!- Woe to them for what their hands Do write, and the gain
2: 79 They make thereby.
2: 81 Nay, those who seek gain In Evil, and are girt round By their
2: 81 sins,- They are Companions of the Fire: Therein shall they abide.
2: 81 (For ever).
2: 82 But those who have faith And work righteousness, They are
2: 82 Companions of the Garden; therein shall they abide (For ever).
2: 82 SECTION 10.
2: 86 These are the people who buy The life of this world at the price Of
2: 86 the hereafter: their penalty Shall not be lightened, Nor shall they
2: 86 be helped.
2: 86 SECTION 11.
2: 87 We gave Moses the Book And followed him up With a succession of
2: 87 Apostles; We gave Jesus the son of Mary Clear (Signs) and
2: 87 strengthened him With the holy spirit. Is it That whenever there
2: 87 comes to you An Apostle with what ye yourselves desire not, ye are
2: 87 Puffed up with pride?-Some ye called impostors, And others ye slay!
2: 89 And when there comes to them A Book from Allah, confirming What is
2: 89 with them,- although From of old they had prayed For victory
2: 89 against those Without Faith,- when there comes To them that which
2: 89 they (Should) have recognised, They refused to believe in it: But
2: 89 the curse of Allah Is on those without Faith.
2: 92 There came to you Moses With clear (Signs); yet Ye worshipped the
2: 92 Calf (Even) after that, and ye Did behave wrongfully.
2:102 They followed what the evil ones Gave out (falsely) Against the
2:102 power Of solomon: the blasphemers Were, not Solomon, but The evil
2:102 ones, teaching men Magic, and such things As came down at Babylon
2:102 To the angels Harut and Marut. But neither of these taught any one
2:102 (Such things) without saying: "We are only for trial; So do not
2:102 blaspheme." They learned from them The means to sow discord Between
2:102 man and wife. But they could not thus Harm any one except By
2:102 Allah's permission. And they learned what harmed them, Not what
2:102 profited them. And they knew that the buyers Of (magic) would have
2:102 No share in the happiness Of the Hereafter. And vile Was the price
2:102 of which They did sell their souls, If they but knew!
2:114 And who is more unjust Than he who forbids That in places for the
2:114 worship Of Allah, Allah's name should be Celebrated?- whose zeal is
2:114 (in fact) to ruin them? It was not fitting that such should
2:114 themselves enter them Except in fear. For them There is nothing but
2:114 disgrace In this world, and in the world To come, an exceeding
2:114 torment.
2:115 To Allah belong the East And the west: whithersoever Ye turn, there
2:115 is the Presence Of Allah. For Allah is All-Pervading, All-Knowing.
2:121 Those to whom We have sent The Book study it as it Should be
2:121 studied: they are The ones that believe therein: Those who reject
2:121 faith therein,- The loss is their own.
2:121 SECTION 15.
2:125 Remember We made the House A place of assembly for men And a place
2:125 of safety; And take ye the Station Of Abraham as a place Of prayer;
2:125 and We covenanted With Abraham and Ismail, That they should
2:125 sanctify My House for those who Compass it round, or use it As a
2:125 retreat, or bow, or Prostrate themselves (therein In prayer).
2:130 And who turns away From the religion of Abraham But such as debase
2:130 their souls With folly? Him We chose And rendered pure in this
2:130 world; And he will be in the hereafter in the ranks of the
2:130 Righteous.
2:134 That was a People that hath Passed away. They shall reap The fruit
2:134 of what they did, And ye of what ye do! Of their merits There is no
2:134 question in your case!
2:141 That was a people that hath Passed away. They shall reap The fruit
2:141 of what they did, And ye of what ye do! Of their merits There is no
2:141 question in your case.
2:141 SECTION 17.
2:144 We see the turning Of thy face (for guidance) To the heavens: now
2:144 Shall We turn thee To a Qibla that shall Please thee. Turn then Thy
2:144 face in the direction Of the Sacred Mosque: Wherever ye are, turn
2:144 Your faces in that direction. The people of the Book Know well that
2:144 that is The Truth from their Lord. Nor is Allah unmindful Of what
2:144 they do.
2:148 To each is a goal To which Allah turns him; Then strive together
2:148 (as in a race) Towards all that is good. Wheresoever ye are, Allah
2:148 will bring you Together. For Allah Hath power over all things.
2:150 So from whencesoever Thou startest forth, turn Thy face in the
2:150 direction Of the Sacred Mosque; Among wheresoever ye are Turn your
2:150 face thither: That there be no ground Of dispute against you Among
2:150 the people Except those of them that are Bent of wickedness; so
2:150 fear Them not, but fear Me; And that I may complete My favours on
2:150 you, and ye May (consent to) be guided;
2:162 They will abide therein: Their penalty will not Be lightened, nor
2:162 will Respite be their (lot).
2:163 And your Allah Is One Allah: There is no god But He, Most Gracious,
2:163 Most Merciful.
2:163 SECTION 20.
2:164 Behold! In the creation Of the heavens and the earth; In the
2:164 alternation Of the Night and the Day, In the sailing of the ships
2:164 Through the ocean For the profit of mankind; In the rain which
2:164 Allah Sends down from the skies; And the life which He gives
2:164 therewith To an earth that is dead; In the beasts of all kinds That
2:164 He scatters Through the earth; In the change of the winds, And the
2:164 clouds which they Trail like their slaves Between the sky and the
2:164 earth;- (Here) indeed are Signs For a people that are wise.
2:165 Yet there are men Who take (for worship) Others besides Allah As
2:165 equal (with Allah): They love them As they should love Allah. But
2:165 those of Faith are Overflowing in their love For Allah. If only The
2:165 unrighteous could see, Behold, they would see The Penalty: that to
2:165 Allah Belongs all power, and Allah Will strongly enforce The
2:165 Penalty.
2:167 And those who followed Would say: "If only We had one more chance,
2:167 We would clear ourselves Of them, as they have Cleared themselves
2:167 of us." Thus will Allah show them (The fruits of) their deeds As
2:167 (nothing but) regrets, Nor will there be a way For them out of the
2:167 Fire.
2:167 SECTION 21.
2:179 In the Law of Equality There is (saving of) Life To you, O ye men
2:179 of understanding! That ye may Restrain yourselves.
2:182 But if any one fears Paritiality or wrong-doing On the part of the
2:182 testator, And makes peace between (The parties concerned). There is
2:182 no wrong in him: For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
2:182 SECTION 23.
2:187 Permitted to you, On the night of the fasts, Is the approach to
2:187 your wives. They are your garments And ye are their garments. Allah
2:187 knoweth what ye Used to do secretly among yourselves: But He turned
2:187 to you And forgave you; So now associate with them, And seek what
2:187 Allah Hath ordained for you, And eat and drink, Until the white
2:187 thread Of dawn appear to you distinct from its black thread; Then
2:187 complete your fast Till the night appears; But do not associate
2:187 With your wives While ye are in retreat In the mosques. Those are
2:187 Limits (set by) Allah: Approach not nigh thereto. Thus doth Allah
2:187 make clear His Signs to men: that They may learn self-restraint.
2:191 And slay them Wherever ye catch them, And turn them out From where
2:191 they have Turned you out; For tumult and oppression Are worse than
2:191 slaughter; But fight them not At the Sacred Mosque, Unless they
2:191 (first) Fight you there: But if they fight you, Slay them. Such is
2:191 the reward Of those who suppress Faith.
2:193 And fight them on Until there is no more Tumult or oppression, And
2:193 there prevail Justice and faith in Allah; But if they cease, Let
2:193 there be no hostility Except to those who practise oppression.
2:194 The prohibited month For the prohibited month,- And so for all
2:194 things prohibited,- There is the law of equality. If then anyone
2:194 transgresses The prohibition against you, Transgress ye likewise
2:194 Against him. But fear Allah, and know That Allah is with those Who
2:194 restrain themselves.
2:197 For Hajj Are the months well known. If anyone undertakes The duty
2:197 therein, Let there be no obscenity Nor wickedness, Nor wrangling In
2:197 the Hajj, And whatever good Ye do, (be sure) Allah knoweth it. And
2:197 take a provision (With you) for the journey. But the best of
2:197 provisions Is right conduct. So fear Me, O ye that are wise!
2:200 So when ye have Accomplished your holy rites, Celebrate the
2:200 praises of Allah, As ye used to celebrate The praises of your
2:200 fathers,- Yea, with far more Heart and soul. There are men who say:
2:200 "Our Lord! give us (Thy bounties) in this world!" But they will
2:200 have No portion in the Hereafter.
2:201 And there are men who say: "Our Lord! Give us Good in this world
2:201 And good in the Hereafter, And defend us from the torment On the
2:201 Fire!"
2:203 Celebrate the praises of Allah During the Appointed Days, But if
2:203 anyone hastens To leave in two days, There is no blame on him, And
2:203 if anyone stays on, There is no blame on him, If his aims is to do
2:203 right. Then fear Allah, and know That ye will surely Be gathered
2:203 unto Him.
2:204 There is the type of man Whose speech About this world's life May
2:204 dazzle thee, And he calls Allah to witness About what is in his
2:204 heart; Yet is he the most contentious Of enemies.
2:205 When he turns his back, His aim everywhere Is to spread mischief
2:205 Through the earth and destroy Crops and cattle. But Allah loveth
2:205 not mischief.
2:207 And there is the type of man Who gives his life To earn the
2:207 pleasure of Allah; And Allah is full of kindness To (His) devotees.
2:213 Mankind was one single nation , And Allah sent Messengers With glad
2:213 tidings and warnings; And with them He sent The Book in truth, To
2:213 judge between people In matters wherein They differed; But the
2:213 People of the Book, After the Clear Signs Came to them, did not
2:213 differ Among themselves, Except through selfishcontumacy. Allah by
2:213 His Grace Guided the Believers To the Truth, Concerning that
2:213 Wherein they differed. For Allah guides Whom He will To a path That
2:213 is straight.
2:217 They ask thee Concerning fighting In the Prohibited Month. Say:
2:217 "Fighting therein Is a grave (offence): But graver is it In the
2:217 sight of Allah To prevent access To the path of Allah, To deny Him,
2:217 To prevent access To the Sacred Mosque, And drive out its members."
2:217 Tumult and oppression Are worse than slaughter Nor will they cease
2:217 Fighting you until They turn you back From your faith If they can.
2:217 And if any of you Turn back from their faith And die in unbelief,
2:217 Their works will bear no fruit In this life And in the Hereafter;
2:217 They will be Companions of the Fire And will abide therein.
2:220 (Their bearings) on This life and the Hereafter. They ask thee
2:220 Concerning orphans. Say: " The best thing to do Is what is for
2:220 their good; If ye mix Their affairs with yours, They are your
2:220 brethren; But Allah knows The man who means mischief From the man
2:220 who means good.
2:220 And if Allah had wished, He could have put you Into difficulties:
2:220 He is indeed Exalted in Power, Wise."
2:223 Your wives are As tilth unto you: So approach your tilth When or
2:223 how ye will: But do some good act For your souls beforehand; And
2:223 fear Allah, And Know that ye are To meet Him (in the Hereafter) And
2:223 give (these) good tidings To those who believe.
2:229 A divorce is only Permissible twice: after that, The parties should
2:229 either hold Together on equitable terms Or separate with kindness.
2:229 It is not lawful for you, (Men) to take back Any of your gifts
2:229 (from your wives), Except when both parties Fear that they would be
2:229 Unable to keep the limits Ordained by Allah, If ye (judges) do
2:229 indeed Fear that they would be Unable to keep the limits Ordained
2:229 by Allah, There is no blame on either Of them if she give Something
2:229 for her freedom. These are the limits Ordained by Allah; So do not
2:229 transgress them. If any do transgress The limits ordained by Allah,
2:229 Such persons wrong (Themselves as well as others).
2:230 So if a husband Divorces his wife (irrevocably), He cannot, after
2:230 that, Remarry her until After she has married Another husband and
2:230 He has divorced her. In that case there is No blame on either of
2:230 them If they reunite, provided They feel that they Can keep the
2:230 limits Ordained by Allah. Such are the limits Ordained by Allah,
2:230 which He makes plain To those who understand.
2:233 The mother shall give suck To their offspring For two whole years,
2:233 If the father desires, To complete the term. But he shall bear the
2:233 cost Of their food and clothing On equitable terms. No soul shall
2:233 have A burden laid on it Greater than it can bear. No mother shall
2:233 be Treated unfairly On account of her child, Nor father On account
2:233 of his child. An heir shall be chargeable In the same way If they
2:233 both decide On weaning, By mutual consent, And after due
2:233 consultation, There is no blame on them. If ye decide On a
2:233 foster-mother For your offspring,There is no blame on you, Provided
2:233 ye pay (the mother) What ye offered, On equitable terms. But fear
2:233 Allah and know That Allah sees well What ye do.
2:234 If any of you die And leave widows behind, They shall wait
2:234 concerning themselves Four months and ten days: When they have
2:234 fulfilled Their term, there is no blame On you if they dispose Of
2:234 themselves in a just And reasonable manner. And Allah is well
2:234 acquainted With what ye do.
2:235 There is no blame On you if ye make An offer of betrothal Or hold
2:235 it in your hearts. Allah knows that ye Cherish them in your hearts:
2:235 But do not make a secret contract With them except in terms
2:235 Honourable, nor resolve on the tie Of marriage till the term
2:235 Prescribed is fulfilled And know that Allah Knoweth what is in your
2:235 hearts And take heed to him; And know that Allah is Oft-Forgiving,
2:235 Most Forbearing.
2:235 SECTION 31.
2:236 There is no blame on you If ye divorce women Before consummation Or
2:236 the fixation of their dower; But bestow on them (A suitable gift)
2:236 The wealthy According to his means, And the poor According to his
2:236 means:- A gift of a reasonable amount Is due from those Who wish
2:236 to do the right things.
2:240 Those of you Who die and leave widows Should bequeath For their
2:240 widows A year's maintenance And residence; But if they leave (The
2:240 residence), There is no blame on you For what they do With
2:240 themselves, Provided it is reasonable, And Allah is Exalted in
2:240 Power, Wise.
2:248 And (further) their Prophet Said to them: " A Sign Of his authority
2:248 Is that there shall come To you the Ark of the Covenant, With
2:248 (an assurance) therein Of security from your Lord, And the relics
2:248 left By the family of Moses And the family of Aaron, Carried by
2:248 angels. In this is a Symbol For you if ye indeed Have faith."
2:248 SECTION 33.
2:255 Allah! There is no god But He,- the Living, The Self-subsisting,
2:255 Eternal No slumber can seize Him Nor sleep. His are all things In
2:255 the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede In His
2:255 presence except As He permitteth? He knoweth What (appeareth to His
2:255 creatures As) Before or After Or behind them. Nor shall they
2:255 compass Aught of His knowledge Except as He willeth. His Throne
2:255 doth extend Over the heavens And the earth, and He feelth No
2:255 fatigue in guarding And preserving them For He is the Most High,
2:255 The Supreme (in glory).
2:256 Let there be no compulsion In religion: Truth stands out Clear from
2:256 Error: whoever Rejects Evil and believes In Allah hath grasped The
2:256 most trustworthy Hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth.
2:256 And knoweth all things.
2:257 Allah is the Protector Of those who have faith: From the depths of
2:257 of darkness He will lead them forth Into light. Of those Who reject
2:257 faith the patrons Are the Evil Ones: from light They will lead them
2:257 forth. Into the depths of darkness. They will be Companions Of the
2:257 fire, to dwell therein (For ever).
2:266 Does any of you wish That he should have a garden With date-palms
2:266 and vines And streams flowing Underneath, and all kinds Of fruit,
2:266 while he is stricken With old age, and his children Are not strong
2:266 (enough to look after themselves)-. That it should be caught in a
2:266 whirlwind, With fire therein, And be burnt up? Thus doth Allah make
2:266 clear to you (His) Signs; That ye may consider.
2:266 SECTION 37.
2:275 Those who devour usury Will not stand except As stands one whom
2:275 The Evil One by his touch Hath driven to madness. That is because
2:275 they say: "Trade is like usury," But Allah hath permitted trade
2:275 And forbidden usury. Those who after receiving Direction from their
2:275 Lord, Desist, shall be pardoned For the past; their case Is for
2:275 Allah (to judge); But those who repeat (The offence)are companions
2:275 Of the Fire: they will Abide therein (for ever).
2:282 O ye who believe! When ye deal with each other, In transactions
2:282 involving Future obligations In a fixed period of time,
2:282 Reduce them to writing. Let a scribe write down Faithfully as
2:282 between The parties: let not the scribe Refuse to write: as Allah
2:282 Has taught him, So let him write. Let him who incurs The liability
2:282 dictate, But let him fear His Lord Allah, And not diminish Aught
2:282 of what he owes. If the party liable Is mentally deficient, Or
2:282 weak, or unable Himself to dictate, Let his guardian Dictate
2:282 faithfully. And get two witnesses, Out of your own men, And if
2:282 there are not two men, Then a man and two women, Such as ye choose,
2:282 For witnesses, So that if one of them errs, The other can remind
2:282 her. The witnesses Should not refuse When they are called on (For
2:282 evidence). Disdain not to reduce To writing (your contract) For a
2:282 future period, Whether it be small Or big: it is juster In the
2:282 sight of Allah, More suitable as evidence, And more convenient To
2:282 prevent doubts Among yourselves But if it be a transaction Which
2:282 ye carry out On the spot among yourselves, There is no blame on
2:282 you If ye reduce it not To writing. But take witnesses Whenever ye
2:282 make A commercial contract; And let neither scribe Nor witness
2:282 suffer harm, If ye do (such harm), It would be wickedness In you
2:282 So fear Allah; For it is Allah That teaches you. And Allah is well
2:282 acquainted With all things.
3: 2 Allah! There is no god But He,-the Living, The Self-Subsisting,
3: 2 Eternal.
3: 6 He it is Who shapes you In the wombs as He pleases. There is no
3: 6 god but He, The Exalted in Might, The Wise.
3: 7 He it is Who has sent down To thee the Book: In it are verses Basic
3: 7 or fundamental (Of established meaning); They are the foundation of
3: 7 the Book: others Are allegorical. But those In whose hearts is per-
3: 7 versity follow The part thereof that is allegorical,Seeking discord
3: 7 and searching For its hidden meanings, But no one knows Its hidden
3: 7 meanings except Allah. And those who are firmly grounded In knowled
3: 7 ge say: "We believe In the Book; the whole of it Is from our Lord":
3: 7 and none Will grasp the Message Except men of understanding.
3: 9 "Our Lord! Thou art He That will gather mankind Together against a
3: 9 Day about which There is no doubt: for Allah Never fails in His
3: 9 promise."
3: 9 SECTION 2.
3: 12 Say to those who reject Faith: "Soon will ye be vanquished And
3: 12 gathered together To Hell,-and evil bed Indeed (to lie on)!
3: 13 "There has already been For you a Sign In the two armies That met
3: 13 (in combat): One was fighting in the Cause Of Allah, the other
3: 13 Resisting Allah: these saw With their own eyes Twice their number.
3: 13 But Allah doth support With His aid whom He pleaseth. In this is a
3: 13 warning For such as have eyes to see."
3: 15 Say: Shall I give you Glad tidings of things Far better than those?
3: 15 For the righteous are Gardens In nearness to their Lord, With
3: 15 rivers flowing beneath; Therein is their eternal home; With
3: 15 Companions pure (and holy); And the good pleasure of Allah. For in
3: 15 Allah's sight. Are (all) His servants,-
3: 18 There is no god but He: That is the witness of Allah, His angels,
3: 18 and those endued With knowledge standing firm On justice. There
3: 18 is no god but He, The Exalted in Power, The Wise.
3: 19 The Religion before Allah Is Islam (submission to His Will) Nor did
3: 19 the People of the Book. Dissent therefrom except Through envy of
3: 19 each other, After knowledge hadcome to them. But if any deny the
3: 19 Signs of Allah, Allah is swift in calling to account.
3: 22 They are those whose works Will bear no fruit In this world And in
3: 22 the Hereafter, Nor will they have Anyone to help.
3: 25 But how (will they fare) When We gather them together Against a
3: 25 Day about which There is no doubt, And each soul will be paid out
3: 25 Just what it has earned, Without (favour or injustice)?
3: 28 Let not the Believers Take for friends or helpers Unbelievers
3: 28 rather than Beleivers: if any do that, In nothing will there be
3: 28 help From Allah: except by way Of precaution, that ye may Guard
3: 28 yourselves from them. But Allah cautions you (To remember) Himself
3: 28 For the final goal Is to Allah.
3: 30 "On the Day, when every soul Will be confronted With all the good
3: 30 it has done, And all the evil it has done, It will wish there were
3: 30 A great distance Between it and its evil. But Allah coutions you
3: 30 (To remember) Himself, And Allah is full of kindness To those that
3: 30 serve Him.
3: 30 SECTION 4.
3: 38 There did Zakariya Pray to his Lord, saying: "O my Lord! Grant unto
3: 38 me From Thee a progeny That is pure; for Thou Art He that heareth
3: 38 prayer!"
3: 45 Behold! the angels said: "O Mary! Allah giveth thee Glad tidings of
3: 45 a Word From Him: his name Will be christ Jesus, The son of Mary,
3: 45 held in honour In this world and the Hereafter And of (the company
3: 45 of) those Nearest to Allah;
3: 49 "And (appoint him) An apostle to the Children Of Israel, (with this
3: 49 message): 'I have come to you, With a Sign from your Lord, In that
3: 49 I make for you Out of clay, as it were, The figure of a bird, And
3: 49 breathe into it, And it becomes a bird By Allah's leave; And I heal
3: 49 those Born blind, and the lepers, And I quicken the dead, By Allah's
3: 49 leave; And I declare to you What ye eat, and what ye store In your
3: 49 houses, Surely Therein is a Sign for you If ye did believe;
3: 55 Behold! Allah said: "O Jesus! I will take thee And raise thee to
3: 55 Myself and clear thee (of the falsehood) Of those who blaspheme;
3: 55 I will make those Who follow thee superior To those who reject
3: 55 faith, To the Day of Resurrection: Then shall ye all Return unto Me
3: 55 And I will judge Between you of the matters Wherein ye dispute.
3: 56 "As to those who reject Faith, I will punish them With terrible
3: 56 agony In this world and in the Hereafter Nor will they have
3: 56 Anyone to help.
3: 62 This is the true account: There is no god Except Allah; And Allah-
3: 62 He is indeed The Exalted in Power, The Wise.
3: 75 Among the People of the Book Are some who, if entrusted With a
3: 75 hoard of gold, Will (readily) pay it back; Others, who, if
3: 75 entrusted With a single silver coin, Will not repay it unless Thou
3: 75 constantly stoodest Demanding, because, They say, "There is no call
3: 75 On us (to keep faith) With these ignorant (Pagans)." But they tell
3: 75 a lie against Allah, And (well) they know it.
3: 77 As for those who sell The faith they owe to Allah And their own
3: 77 plighted word For a small price, They shall have no portion In the
3: 77 Hereafter: Nor will Allah (Deign to) speak to them Or look at them
3: 77 On the Day of Judgement, Nor will He cleanse them (Of sin): they
3: 77 shall have A grievous Penalty.
3: 78 There is among them A section who distort The Book with their
3: 78 tongues. (As they read) you would think It is a part of the Book,
3: 78 But it is no part Of the Book; and they say, "That is from Allah,"
3: 78 But it is not from Allah:
3: 78 It is they who tell A lie against Allah, And (well)
3: 78 they know it!
3: 85 If anyone desires A religion other than Islam (submission to
3: 85 Allah). Never will it be accepted Of him; and in the Hereafter He
3: 85 will be in the ranks Of those who have lost (All spiritual good).
3: 97 In it are Signs Manifest; (for example), The Station of Abraham;
3: 97 Whoever enters it Attains security; Pilgrimage there to is a duty
3: 97 Men owe to Allah,- Those who can afford The journey; but if any
3: 97 Deny faith, Allah stands not In need of any of His creatures.
3:104 Let there arise out of you A band of people Inviting to all that is
3:104 good, Enjoining what is right, And forbidding what is wrong:- They
3:104 are the ones To attain felicity.
3:107 But those whose faces Will be (lit with) white,- They will be in
3:107 (the light Of) Allah's mercy: therein To dwell (for ever).
3:112 Shame is pitched over them (Like a tent) wherever They are found,
3:112 Except when under a covenant (Of protection) from Allah And from
3:112 men; they draw On themselves wrath from Allah, And pitched over
3:112 them Is (the tent of) destitution. This because they rejected The
3:112 Signs of Allah, and slew The Prophets in defiance of right; This
3:112 because they rebelled And transgressed beyond bounds.
3:116 Those who reject Faith,- Neither their possessions Nor their
3:116 (numerous) progeny Will avail them aught against Allah: They will
3:116 be Companions Of the Fire,- dwelling There in (for ever).
3:125 "Yea,"- if ye remain firm, And act aright, even if The enemy
3:125 should rush here On you in hot haste, Your Lord would help you
3:125 With five thousand angels Making a terrific onslaught."
3:126 Allah made it but a message Of hope for you; and an assurance To
3:126 your hearts: (in any case) There is no help Except from Allah The
3:126 Exalted, the Wise:
3:138 Here is a plain statement To men, a guidance And instruction to
3:138 those Who fear Allah!
3:145 Nor can a soul die Except by Allah's leave, The term being fixed As
3:145 by writing. If any Do desire a reward In this life, We shall give
3:145 it To him; and if any Do desire a reward In the Hereafter, We shall
3:145 Give it to him. And swiftly shall We reward Those that (serve Us
3:145 with) gratitude.
3:148 And Allah gave them A reward in this world, And the excellent
3:148 reward Of the Hereafter. For Allah Loveth those who do good.
3:148 SECTION - 16.
3:152 Allah did indeed fulfil His promise to you When ye with His
3:152 permission Were about to annihilate Your enemy,-until ye flinched
3:152 And fell to disputing About the order And disobeyed it After He
3:152 brought you in sight (Of the Booty) which ye covet. Among you are
3:152 some That hanker after this world And some that desire The
3:152 Hereafter. Then did He Divert you from your foes In order to test
3:152 you, ;But He forgave you: For Allah is full of grace To those who
3:152 believe.
3:153 Behold! ye were climbing up The high ground, without even Casting a
3:153 side glance At anyone, and the Apostle In your rear was calling
3:153 you Back. There did Allah give you One distress after another By
3:153 way of requital, To teach you not to grieve For (the booty )that
3:153 had escaped you And for (the ill) that had befallen you.
3:153 For Allah is well aware Of all that ye do.
3:154 After (the excitement) Of the distress, He sent down Calm on a
3:154 band of you Overcome with slumber, While another band Was stirred
3:154 to anxiety By their own feelings, Moved by wrong suspicions Of
3:154 Allah -suspicions due To Ignorance. They said: "What affair is this
3:154 of ours?" Say thou: "Indeed, this affair Is wholly Allah's."
3:154 They hide In their minds what they Dare not reveal to thee. They
3:154 say (to themselves):"If we had had anything To do with this affair,
3:154 We should not have been In the slaughter here." Say:"Even if
3:154 you had remained In your homes, those For whom death was decreed
3:154 Would certainly have gone forth To the place of their death "; But
3:154 (all this was) That Allah might test What is in your breasts And
3:154 purge what is In your hearts: For Allah knoweth well The secrets of
3:154 your hearts.
3:160 If Allah helps you, None can overcome you: If He forsakes you, Who
3:160 is there, after that, That can help you? In Allah, then, Let
3:160 Believers put their trust.
3:176 Let not those grieve thee Who rush headlong Into Unbelief; Not the
3:176 least harm Will they do to Allah; Allah's Plan is that He will
3:176 give them no portion In the Hereafter, But a severe punishment.
3:183 They (also) said: "Allah took Our promise not to believe In an
3:183 apostle unless He showed us a sacrifice Consumed by fire (From
3:183 heaven)." Say: "There came to you Apostles before me, With Clear
3:183 Signs And even with what Ye ask for: why then, Did ye stay them If
3:183 ye speak the truth?"
3:190 Behold! In the creation Of the heavens and the earth, And the
3:190 alternation Of Night and Day,- There are indeed Signs For men of
3:190 understanding,-
3:195 And their Lord hath accepted Of them, and answered them: "Never
3:195 will I suffer to be lost The work of any of you, Be he male or
3:195 female: Ye are members, one of another: Those who have left their
3:195 homes, Or been driven our therefrom, Or suffered harm in My Cause,
3:195 Or fought or been slain,- Verily, I will blot out From them their
3:195 iniquities, And admit them into Gardens With rivers flowing
3:195 beneath;- A reward from the
3:195 Presence Of Allah, and from His Presence Is the best of rewards."
3:198 On the other hand, for those Who fear their Lord, Are Gardens, with
3:198 rivers Flowing beneath, therein Are they to dwell (for ever),- A
3:198 gift from the Presence of Allah, and that which is In the Presence
3:198 of Allah, Is the best (bliss) For the righteous.
3:199 And there are, certainly, Among the People of the Book, Those who
3:199 believe in Allah, In the revelation to you, And in the revelation
3:199 to them, Bowing in humility to Allah: They will not sell The Signs
3:199 of Allah For a miserable gain! For them is a reward With their
3:199 Lord, And Allah is swift in account.
4: 7 From what is left by parents And those nearest related There is a
4: 7 share for men And a share for women, Whether the property be small
4: 7 Or large,- a determinate share.
4: 13 Those are limits Set by Allah: those who Obey Allah and His Apostle
4: 13 Will be admitted to Gardens With rivers flowing beneath, To abide
4: 13 therein (for ever) And that will be The Supreme achievement.
4: 14 But those who disobey Allah and His Apostle And transgress His
4: 14 limits Will be admitted To a Fire, to abide therein: And they shall
4: 14 have A humiliating punishment.
4: 14 SECTION 3.
4: 19 O ye who believe! Ye are forbidden to inherit Women against their
4: 19 will. Nor should ye treat them With harshness, that ye may Take
4: 19 away part of the dower Ye have given them,- except Where they have
4: 19 been guilty Of open lewdness; On the contrary live with them On a
4: 19 footing of kindness and equity. If ye take a dislike to them It may
4: 19 be that ye dislike A thing, and Allah brings about Through it a
4: 19 great deal of good.
4: 24 Also (prohibited are) Women already married, Except those Whom your
4: 24 right hands possess. Thus hath Allah ordained (Prohibitions)
4: 24 against you: Except for these, all others Are lawful, provided Ye
4: 24 seek (them in marriage) With gifts from your property,- Desiring
4: 24 chastity, not lust. Seeing that ye derive Benefit from them, give
4: 24 them Their dowers (at least) As prescribed; but if, After a dower
4: 24 is prescribed, ye agree Mutually (to vary it), There is no blame on
4: 24 you, And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
4: 25 If any of you have not The means wherewith. To wed free believing
4: 25 women, They may wed believing Girls from among those Whom your
4: 25 right hands possess; And Allah hath full knowledge About your
4: 25 Faith. Ye are one from another: Wed them with the leave Of their
4: 25 owners, and give them, Their owners, according to what Is
4: 25 reasonable: they should be Chaste, not lustful, nor taking
4: 25 Paramours: when they Are taken in wedlock, If they fall into shame,
4: 25 Their punishment is half That for free women. This (permission)
4: 25 is for those Among you who fear sin; But it is better for you That
4: 25 ye practise self-restraint: And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most
4: 25 Merciful.
4: 25 SECTION 5.
4: 29 O ye who believe! Eat not up your property Among yourselves in
4: 29 vanities: But let there be amongst you Traffic and trade By mutual
4: 29 good-will: Nor kill (or destroy) Yourselves: for verily Allah hath
4: 29 been to you Most Merciful!
4: 34 Men are the protectors And maintainers of women, Because Allah has
4: 34 given The one more (strength) Than the other, and because They
4: 34 support them From their means. Therefore the righteous women Are
4: 34 devoutly obedient, and guard In (the husband's) absence What Allah
4: 34 would have them guard. As to those women On whose part ye fear
4: 34 Disloyalty and ill-conduct, Admonish them (first), (Next), refuse
4: 34 to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly): But if they
4: 34 return to obedience, Seek not against them Means (of annoyance):
4: 34 For Allah is Most High, Great (above you all).
4: 40 Allah is never unjust In the least degree: If there is any good
4: 40 (done), He doubleth it, And giveth from His own Presence a great
4: 40 reward.
4: 43 O ye who believe! Approach not prayers With a mind befogged, Until
4: 43 ye can understand All that ye say,- Nor in a state Of ceremonial
4: 43 impurity (Except when traveling on the road), Until after washing
4: 43 Your whole body If ye are ill, Or on a journey, Or one of you
4: 43 cometh From offices of nature, Or ye have been In contact with
4: 43 women, And ye find no water, Then take for yourselves Clean sand or
4: 43 earth, And rub therewith Your faces and hands: For Allah doth blot
4: 43 out sins And forgive again and again.
4: 46 Of the Jews there are those Who displace words From their (right)
4: 46 places, And say: "We hear And we disobey" And "Hear what is not
4: 46 Heard" and "Raina"; With a twist of their tongues And a slander to
4: 46 Faith. If only they had said; "We hear and we obey"; And "Do hear";
4: 46 And "Do look at us": It would have been better For them, and more
4: 46 proper; But Allah hath cursed them For their Unbelief; and but few
4: 46 Of them will believe.
4: 57 But those who believe And do deeds of righteousness, We shall soon
4: 57 admit to Gardens, With rivers flowing beneath,- Their eternal home:
4: 57 Therein shall they have Companions pure and holy: We shall admit
4: 57 them To shades, cool and ever deepening.
4: 72 There are certainly among you Men who would tarry behind: If a
4: 72 misfortune befalls you, They say: "Allah did favour us In that we
4: 72 were not Present among them."
4: 73 But if good fortune comes to you From Allah, they would be sure To
4: 73 say- as if there had never been Ties of affection between you and
4: 73 them- "Oh! I wish I had been with them; A fine thing should I then
4: 73 Have made of it!"
4: 74 Let those fight In the cause of Allah Who sell the life of this
4: 74 world For the Hereafter, To him who fighteth In the cause of
4: 74 Allah,- Whether he is slain Or gets victory- Soon shall We give him
4: 74 A reward of great (value).
4: 77 Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those Who were told to hold back
4: 77 Their hands (from fight) But establish regular prayers And spend in
4: 77 regular Charity? When (at length) the order For fighting was issued
4: 77 to them, Behold! a section of them Feared men as- Or even more
4: 77 than- They should have feared Allah: They said: "Our Lord! Why hast
4: 77 Thou ordered us To fight? Wouldst Thou not Grant us respite To our
4: 77 (natural) term, Near(enough)?" Say: "Short Is the enjoyment of this
4: 77 world: The Hereafter is the best For those who do right: Never will
4: 77 ye be Dealt with unjustly In the very least!
4: 78 "Wherever ye are, Death will find you out, Even if ye are in towers
4: 78 Built up strong and high!" If some good befalls them, They say,
4: 78 "This is from Allah" But if evil, they say, "This is from thee"
4: 78 (O Prophet). "Say: "All things are from Allah." But what hath come
4: 78 To these people, That they fail To understand A single fact?
4: 82 Do they not consider The Qur-an (with care)? Had it been from other
4: 82 Than Allah, they would surely Have found therein Much discrepancy.
4: 83 When there comes to them Some matter touching (Public) safety or
4: 83 fear, They divulge it. If they had only referred it To the Apostle,
4: 83 or to those Charged with authority Among them, the proper Investiga-
4: 83 tors would have Tested it from them (direct). Were it not for the
4: 83 Grace And Mercy of Allah unto you, All but a few of you Would
4: 83 have fallen Into the clutches of Satan.
4: 85 Whoever recommends And helps a good cause Becomes a partner therein
4: 85 And whoever recommends And helps an evil cause, Shares in its
4: 85 burden: And Allah hath power Over all things.
4: 87 Allah! There is no god But He: of a surety He will gather you
4: 87 together Against the Day of Judgment, About which there is no
4: 87 doubt. And whose word can be Truer than Allah's?
4: 87 SECTION - 12.
4: 89 They but wish that ye Should reject Faith, As they do, and thus
4: 89 be On the same footing(as they): But take not friends From their
4: 89 ranks Until they flee In the way of Allah (From what is forbidden).
4: 89 But if they turn renegades, Seize them and slay them Wherever ye
4: 89 find them? And (in any case) take No friends or helpers From their
4: 89 ranks;-
4: 90 Except those who join A group between whom And you there is a
4: 90 treaty,(Of peace), or those who approach You with hearts
4: 90 restraining Them from fighting you As well as fighting their own
4: 90 People. If Allah had pleased, He could have given them Power over
4: 90 you, and they Would have fought you; Therefore if they withdraw
4: 90 From you but fight you not, And (instead) send you (Guarantees of)
4: 90 peace, then Allah Hath opened no way For you (to war against them)
4: 91 Others you will find That wish to gain Your confidence as well
4: 91 As that of their people: Every time they are sent back To
4: 91 temptation, they succumb Thereto: if they withdraw not From you
4: 91 nor give you (guarantees) Of peace besides Restraining their hands,
4: 91 Seize them and slay them. Wherever ye get them In their case We
4: 91 have provided you With a clear argument Against them.
4: 91 SECTION 13.
4: 93 If a man kills a Believer Intentionally, his recompense Is Hell to
4: 93 abide therein (For ever): and the wrath And the curse of Allah Are
4: 93 upon him and A dreadful penalty Is prepared for him.
4: 94 O ye who believe! When ye go abroad In the cause of Allah, Investi-
4: 94 gate carefully, And say not to anyone Who offers you a salutation:
4: 94 "Thou art none of a Believer!"- Coveting the perishable goods Of
4: 94 this life: with Allah Are profits and spoils abundant. Even thus
4: 94 were ye yourselves Before, till Allah conferred On you His favours:
4: 94 therefore Carefully investigate, For Allah is well aware Of all
4: 94 that ye do.
4: 99 For these, there is hope That Allah will forgive; For Allah doth
4: 99 blot (sins) And forgive again and again.
4:101 When ye travel Through the earth, There is no blame you If ye
4:101 shorten your prayers, For fear the Unbelievers May attack you; For
4:101 the Unbelievers are Unto you open enemies.
4:102 When thou (O Apostle) Art with them, and standest To lead them in
4:102 prayer, Let one party of them Stand up (in prayer) with thee
4:102 Taking their arms with them; When they finish Their prostrations,
4:102 let them Take their positions in the rear, And let the other party
4:102 come up- Which hath not yet prayed- And let them pray with thee ,
4:102 Taking all precautions, And bearing arms: The Unbelievers wish,
4:102 If ye were negligent Of your arms and your baggage To assault
4:102 you in a single rush, But there is no blame on you If ye put
4:102 away your arms Because of the inconvenience Of rain or because ye
4:102 are ill; But take (every) precaution For yourselves. For the
4:102 Unbelievers Allah hath prepared A humiliating punishment.
4:114 In most of their secret talks There is no good: but if One exhorts
4:114 to a deed Of charity or justice Or conciliation between men,
4:114 (Secrecy is permissible): To him who does this, Seeking the good
4:114 pleasure Of Allah, We shall soon give A reward of the highest
4:114 (value).
4:122 But those who believe And do deeds of righteousness,- We shall soon
4:122 admit them To Gardens, with revers Flowing beneath,- to dwell There
4:122 for ever. Allah's promise is the truth, And whose word can be Truer
4:122 than Allah's?
4:127 They ask thy instruction Concerning the Women, Say: Allah doth
4:127 Instruct you about them: And (remember) what hath Been rehearsed
4:127 unto you In the Book, concerning The orphans of women to whom Ye
4:127 give not the portions Prescribed, and yet whom ye Desire to marry,
4:127 as also Concerning the children Who are weak and oppressed: That ye
4:127 stand firm For justice to orphans. There is not a good deed Which
4:127 ye do, but Allah Is well-acquainted therewith.
4:128 If a wife fears Cruelty or desertion On her husband's part, There
4:128 is no blame on them If they arrange An amicable settlement Between
4:128 themselves; And such settlement is best; Even though men's souls
4:128 Are swayed by greed. But if ye do good And practise self-restraint,
4:128 Allah is well-acquainted With all that ye do.
4:134 If anyone desires A reward in this life, In Allah's (gift) is the
4:134 reward (Both) of this life And of the Hereafter: For Allah is He
4:134 that heareth And seeth (all things).
4:134 SECTION 20.
4:138 To the Hypocrites give The glad tidings that There is for them
4:138 (But) a grievous Penalty:-
4:148 Allah loveth not that evil Should be noised abroad In public
4:148 speech, except Where injustice hath been Done; for Allah Is He Who
4:148 heareth And knoweth all things.
4:157 That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus The son of Mary,
4:157 The Apostle of Allah":- But they killed him not, Nor crucified him,
4:157 But so it was made To appear to them, And those who differ Therein
4:157 are full of doubts, With no (certain) knowledge, But only
4:157 conjecture to follow, For of a surety They killed him not;-
4:159 And there is none Of the People of the Book But must believe in him
4:159 Before his death; And on the Day of Judgment He will be a witness
4:159 Against them;-
4:169 Except the way of Hell,To dwell therein for ever: And this to Allah
4:169 is easy.
4:174 O mankind! Verily There hath come to you A convincing proof From
4:174 your Lord: For We have sent unto you A light (that is) manifest.
4:176 They ask thee For a legal decision. Say: Allah directs (thus) About
4:176 those who leave No descendants or ascendants As heirs. If it is a
4:176 man 681 That dies, leaving a sister But no child, she shall Have
4:176 half the inheritance: If (such a deceased was) A woman, who left no
4:176 child, Her brother takes her inheritance: If there are two sisters,
4:176 They shall have two-thirds Of the inheritance (Between them): if
4:176 there are Brothers and sisters, (they share), The male having twice
4:176 The share of the female. Thus doth Allah make clear To you (His
4:176 law), lest Ye err. And Allah Hath knowledge of all things.
5: 6 This day are (all) things Good and pure made lawful Unto you. The
5: 6 food Of the People of the Book Is lawful unto you And yours is
5: 6 lawful Unto them. (Lawful unto you in marriage) Are (not only)
5: 6 chaste women Who are believers, but Chaste women among The People
5: 6 of the Book, Reaveled before your time,- when ye give them Their
5: 6 due dowers, and desire Chastity, not lewdness, Nor secret
5: 6 intrigues. If anyone rejects faith, Fruitless is his work, And in
5: 6 the Hereafter He will be in the ranks Of those who have lost (All
5: 6 spiritual good).
5: 7 O ye who believe! When ye prepare For prayer, wash Your faces, and
5: 7 your hands (And arms) to the elbows; Rub your heads (with water);
5: 7 And (wash) your feet To the ankles. If ye are in a state Of
5: 7 ceremonial impurity, Bathe your whole body. But if ye are ill, Or
5: 7 on a journey, Or one of you, cometh From offices of nature, Or ye
5: 7 have been In contact with women, And ye find no water, Then take
5: 7 for yourselves Clean sand or earth, And rub therewith Your faces
5: 7 and hands Allah doth not wish To place you in a difficulty, But to
5: 7 make you clean, And to complete His favour to you, That ye may be
5: 7 grateful.
5: 16 O People of the Book! There hath come to you Our Apostle,
5: 16 revealing To you much that ye Used to hide in the Book, And
5: 16 passing over much (That is now unnecessary):
5: 17 There hath come to you From Allah a (new) light And a perspicuous
5: 17 Book,-
5: 18 Wherewith Allah guideth all Who seek His good pleasure To ways of
5: 18 peace and safety, And leadeth them out Of darkness, by His Will,
5: 18 Unto the light,- guideth them To a Path that is Straight.
5: 21 Of People of the Book! Now hath come unto you, Making (things)
5: 21 clear unto you, Our Apostle, after the break In (the series of) Our
5: 21 apostles, Lest ye should say: There came unto us No bringer of glad
5: 21 tidings And no warner (from evil)" But now hath come Unto you a
5: 21 bringer Of glad tidings And a warner (from evil): And Allah hath
5: 21 power Over all things.
5: 21 SECTION 4.
5: 27 They said: "Moses! While they remain there, Never shall we be able
5: 27 To enter, to the end of time. Go thou, and thy Lord, And fight ye
5: 27 two, While we sit here (And watch)."
5: 29 Allah said: "Therefore Will the land be out Of their reach for
5: 29 forty years; In distraction will they Wander through the land: But
5: 29 sorrow thou not Over these rebellious people."
5: 29 SECTION 5.
5: 35 On that account: We ordained For the Children of Israel That if
5: 35 anyone slew A person- unless it be For murder or for spreading
5: 35 Mischief in the land- It would be as if He slew the whole people:
5: 35 And if anyone saved a life, It would be as if he saved The life of
5: 35 the whole people. Then although there came To them Our Apostles
5: 35 With Clear Signs, yet, Even after that, many Of them continued to
5: 35 commit Excesses in the land.
5: 36 The punishment of those Who wage war against Allah And His Apostle,
5: 36 and strive With might and main For mischief through the land Is:
5: 36 execution, or crucifixion, Or the cutting off of hands And feet
5: 36 from opposit sides, Or exile from the land: That is their disgrace
5: 36 In this world, and A heavy punishment is theirs In the Hereafter;
5: 40 Their wish will be To get out of the Fire, But never will they Get
5: 40 out therefrom: Their Penalty will be One that endures.
5: 44 O Apostle! let not Those grieve thee, who race Each other into
5: 44 Unbelief: (Whether it be) among those Who say: "We believe" With
5: 44 their lips but Whose hearts have no faith; Or it be among the
5: 44 Jews,- Men who will listen To any lie,-will listen Even to others
5: 44 who have Never so much as come To thee. They change the words From
5: 44 their (right) times And places; they say, "If ye are given this,
5: 44 Take it, but if not, Beware!" If anyone's trial Is intended by
5: 44 Allah, thou hast No authority in the least For him against Allah.
5: 44 For such- it is not Allah's will to purify Their hearts. For them
5: 44 There is disgrace In this world, and In the Hereafter A heavy
5: 44 punishment.
5: 46 But why do they come To thee for decision, When they have (their
5: 46 own) Laws before them?- Therein is the (plain) Command of Allah;
5: 46 yet Even after that, they would Turn away. For they Are not
5: 46 (really) People of Faith.
5: 46 SECTION 7.
5: 47 It was We Who revealed The Law (to Moses); therein Was guidance and
5: 47 light. By its standard have been judged The Jews, by the Prophet
5: 47 Who bowed (as in Islam) To Allah's Will, by the Rabbis And the
5: 47 Doctors of Law: For to them was entrusted The protection of Allah's
5: 47 Book, And they were witnesses there to: Therefore fear not men, But
5: 47 fear Me, and sell not My Signs for a miserable price If any do fail
5: 47 to judge By (the light of) what Allah Hath revealed, they are (No
5: 47 better than) Unbelievers.
5: 48 We ordained therein for them: "Life for life, eye for eye, Nose for
5: 48 nose, ear for ear, Tooth for tooth, and wounds Equal for equal,"
5: 48 But if Anyone remits the retaliation By way of charity, it is An
5: 48 act of atonement for himself. And if any fail to judge By, (the
5: 48 light of) what Allah Hath revealed, they are (No better than)
5: 48 wrong-doers.
5: 49 And in their footsteps We sent Jesus the son Of Mary, confirming
5: 49 The Law that had come Before him: We sent him The Gospel: therein
5: 49 Was guidance and light, And confirmation of the Law That had come
5: 49 before him: A guidance and an admonition To those who fear Allah.
5: 50 Let the People of the Gospel Judge by what Allah hath revealed
5: 50 Therein. If any do fail To judge by (the light of) What Allah hath
5: 50 revealed, They are (no better than) Those who rebel.
5: 69 If only they had stood fast By the Law the Gospel, And all the
5: 69 revelation that was sent To them from their Lord, They would have
5: 69 enjoyed Happiness from every side. There is from among them A party
5: 69 on the right course; But many of them Follow a course that is evil.
5: 69 SECTION 10.
5: 73 We took the Covenant Of the Children of Israel And sent them
5: 73 Apostles. Every time there came To them an apostle With what they
5: 73 themselves Desired not-some (Of these) they called Impostors, and
5: 73 some they (Go so far as to) slay .
5: 74 They thought there would be No trial (or punishment ); So they
5: 74 became blind and deaf: Yet Allah (in mercy) turned To them: yet
5: 74 again many Of them became blind and deaf. But Allah sees well All
5: 74 that they do.
5: 75 They do blaspheme who say: "Allah is Christ the son Of Mary." But
5: 75 said Christ: "O Children of Israel! Worship Allah, my Lord And your
5: 75 Lord." Whoever Joins other gods with Allah,- Allah will forbid him
5: 75 The Garden, and the Fire Will be his abode. There will For the
5: 75 wrong-doers Be no one to help.
5: 76 They do blaspheme who say: Allah is one of three In a Trinity:
5: 76 for there is No god except One Allah. If they desist not From
5: 76 their word (of blasphemy), Verily a grievous penalty Will befall
5: 76 the blasphemers Among them.
5: 96 On those who believe And do deeds of righteousness There is no
5: 96 blame For what they ate (in the past), When they guard themselves
5: 96 From evil and believe,- And do deeds of righteousness,- (Or) again,
5: 96 guard themselves From evil and believe, (Or) again, guard
5: 96 themselves From evil and do good. For Allah loveth those Who do
5: 96 good.
5: 96 SECTION 13.
5: 97 O ye who believe! Allah doth but make a trial of you In a little
5: 97 matter Of game well within reach Of your hands and your lances,
5: 97 That He may test Who feareth Him unseen: Any who transgress
5: 97 Thereafter will have A grievous penalty.
5: 99 Lawful to you is the pursuit Of water-game and its use For food,-
5: 99 for the benefit Of yourselves and those who Travel; but forbidden
5: 99 Is the pursuit of land-game;- As long as ye are In the Sacred
5: 99 Precincts Or in pilgrim garb. And fear Allah, to Whom Ye shall be
5: 99 gathered back.
5:116 They said: "we only wish To eat thereof and satisfy Our hearts, and
5:116 to know That thou hast indeed Told us the truth; and That we
5:116 ourselves may be Witnesses to the miracle."
5:117 Said Jessus the son of Mary: "O Allah our lord! Send us from heaven
5:117 A Table set (with viands), That there may be for us- For the first
5:117 and the last of us- A solemn festival And a Sign from Thee; And
5:117 provide for our sustenance, For thou art the best Sustainer (of our
5:117 needs)."
5:123 To Allah doth belong the dominion Of the heavens and the earth, And
5:123 all that is therein, And it is He Who hath power Over all things.
6: 2 He it is Who created You from clay, and then Decreed a stated term
6: 2 (For you). And there is In His Presence another Determined term;
6: 2 yet Ye doubt within yourselves!
6: 4 But never did a single One of the Signs Of their Lord reach them,
6: 4 But they turned Away therefrom.
6: 12 Say: "To whom belongeth All that is in the heavens And on earth?"
6: 12 Say: "To Allah. He hath inscribed For Himself (the rule of) Mercy
6: 12 That He will gather you Together for the Day of Judgment, There is
6: 12 no doubt whatever. It is they who have lost Their own souls, that
6: 12 will Not believe.
6: 19 Say: "What thing is most Weighty in evidence?" Say: "Allah is
6: 19 witness Between me and you: This Qur-an hath been Revealed to me
6: 19 by inspiration That I may warn you And all whom it reaches. Can ye
6: 19 possibly bear witness That besides Allah there is Another god?"
6: 19 Say: "Nay! I cannot bear witness!" Say: "But in truth He is the One
6: 19 God. And I truly am innocent Of (your blasphemy of) joining Others
6: 19 with Him."
6: 20 Those to whom We have given the Book Know this as they know 850
6: 20 Their own sons. Those who have lost Their own souls Refuse
6: 20 therefore to believe.
6: 20 SECTION 3.
6: 22 One day shall We gather Them all together: We Shall say to those
6: 22 Who ascribed partners (to Us): "Where are the partners Whom ye
6: 22 (invented And) talked about?"
6: 23 There will then be (left) No subterfuge for them But to say: "By
6: 23 Allah, Our Lord, we were not Those who joined gods With Allah."
6: 25 Of them there are some Who (pretend to) listen to thee; But We have
6: 25 thrown Veils on their hearts, So they understand it not, And
6: 25 deafness in their ears; If they saw every one Of the Signs, not
6: 25 they Will believe in them; In so much that When they come to thee,
6: 25 They (but) dispute with thee; The Unbelievers say: "These are
6: 29 And they (sometimes) say: "There is nothing except Our life on this
6: 29 earth, And never shall we be Raised up again."
6: 32 What is the life of this world But play and amusement? But best is
6: 32 the Home In the Hereafter, for those Who are righteous. Will ye not
6: 32 then understand?
6: 34 Rejected were the Apostles Before thee: with patience And constancy
6: 34 they bore Their rejection and their wrongs, Until Our aid did reach
6: 34 Them: there is none That can alter the Words (And Decrees)of Allah.
6: 34 Already hast thou received Some account of those Apostles.
6: 38 There is not an animal (That lives) on the earth, Nor a being that
6: 38 flies On its wings, but (forms Part of) communities like you.
6: 38 Nothing have We omitted From the Book, and they (all) Shall be
6: 38 gathered to their Lord In the end.
6: 40 Say: "Think ye to yourselves, If there come upon you The Wrath of
6: 40 Allah, Or the Hour (that ye dread), Would ye then call upon Other
6: 40 than Allah?- (Reply) if ye are truthful!
6: 54 When those come to thee Who believe in Our Signs, Say: "Peace be on
6: 54 you: Your Lord had inscribed For Himself (the rule 874 Of) Mercy:
6: 54 verily, If any of you did evil In ignorance, and thereafter
6: 54 Repented and amended (His conduct), lo! He is Oft-Forgiving, Most
6: 54 Merciful."
6: 59 With Him are the keys Of the Unseen, the treasures That none
6: 59 knoweth but He. He knoweth whatever there is On the earth and in
6: 59 the sea. Not a leaf doth fall But with His knowledge: There is not
6: 59 a grain In the darkness (or depths) Of the earth, nor anything
6: 59 Fresh or dry (green or withered). But is (inscribed) in a Record
6: 59 Clear (to those who can read).
6: 72 "To establish regular prayers And to fear Allah; For it is to Him
6: 72 That we shall be Gathered together."
6: 91 No just estimate of Allah Do they make when they say: "Nothing doth
6: 91 Allah send down To man (by way of revelation)": Say: "Who then sent
6: 91 down The Book which Moses brought?- A light and guidance to man:
6: 91 But ye make it into (Separate) sheets for show, While ye conceal
6: 91 much (Of its contents): therein Were ye taught that Which ye knew
6: 91 not- Neither ye nor your fathers." Say: "Allah (sent it down)":
6: 91 Then leave them to plunge In vain discourse and trifling.
6: 92 And this is a Book Which We have revealed, Bringing blessings, and
6: 92 confirming (The revelations) which came Before it: that thou Mayest
6: 92 warn the Mother Of Cities and all around her. Those who believe In
6: 92 the Hereafter Believe in this (Book) And they are constant In
6: 92 guarding their Prayers.
6: 98 It is He Who hath Produced you From a single person: Here is a
6: 98 place of so journ And a place of departure: We detail Our Signs For
6: 98 people who understand.
6: 99 It is He Who sendeth down Rain from the skies; With it We produce
6: 99 Vegetation of all kinds: From some We produce Green (crops), out
6: 99 of which We produce grain, Heaped up (at harvest); Out of the
6: 99 date-palm And its sheaths (or spathes) (Come) clusters of dates
6: 99 Hanging low and near: And (then there are) gardens Of grapes, and
6: 99 olives, And pomegranates, Each similar (in kind) Yet different (in
6: 99 variety): When they begin to bear fruit, Feast your eye with the
6: 99 fruit, And the ripeness thereof. Behold! in these things There are
6: 99 Signs for people Who believe.
6:102 That is Allah your Lord! There is no god but He, The Creator of all
6:102 things: Then worship ye Him: And He hath power To dispose of all
6:102 affairs.
6:104 How have come to you, From your Lord, proofs To open your eyes: If
6:104 any will see, It will be for (the good Of) his own soul; If any
6:104 will be blind, It will be to his own (Harm): I am not (here) To
6:104 watch over your doings."
6:106 Follow what thou art tautht By inspiration from the Lord: There is
6:106 no god but He: And turn aside from those Who join gods with Allah.
6:111 Even if We did send Unto them angels, And the dead did speak Unto
6:111 them, and We gathered Together all things before Their very eyes,
6:111 they are not The ones to believe, Unless it is in Allah's Plan:
6:111 But most of them Ignore (the truth).
6:113 To such (deceit) Let the hearts of those Incline, who have no faith
6:113 In the Hereafter: let them Delight in it, and let them Earn from it
6:113 what they may.
6:122 Can he who was dead, To whom We gave life, And a Light whereby He
6:122 can walk amongst men, Be like him who is In the depths of darkness,
6:122 From which he can Never come out? Thus to those without Faith Their
6:122 own deeds seem pleasing.
6:123 Thus have We placed Leaders in every town, Its wicked men, to plot
6:123 (And burrow) therein: But they only plot Against their own souls,
6:123 And they perceive it not.
6:124 When there comes to them A Sign (from Allah), They say: "We shall
6:124 not Believe until we receive One (exactly) like those Received by
6:124 Allah's apostles." Allah knoweth best where (And how) to carry out
6:124 His mission. Soon Will the wicked Be overtaken by Humiliation
6:124 before Allah, And a severe punishment, For all their plots.
6:128 One day will He gather Them all together, (and say): "O ye assembly
6:128 of Jinns! Much (toll) did ye take Of men." Their friends Amongst
6:128 men will say: "Our Lord! we made profit From each other: but
6:128 (alas!) We reached our term- Which Thou didst appoint For us." He
6:128 will say: "The Fire be your dwelling -place You will dwell therein
6:128 for ever, Except as Allah willeth." For thy Lord is full Of wisdom
6:128 and knowledge.
6:130 O ye assembly of Jinns And men! came there not Unto you apostles
6:130 from amongst you, Setting forth unto you My Signs, and warning you
6:130 Of the meeting of this Day Of yours?" They will say: "We bear
6:130 witness against Ourselves." It was The life of this world That
6:130 deceived them. So Against themselves will they Bear witness that
6:130 they Rejected Faith.
6:135 Say : "O my people! Do whatever ye can: I will do (my part): Soon
6:135 will ye know Who it is whose end Will be (best) in the Hereafter:
6:135 Certain it is that The wrong-doers will not prosper."
6:138 And they say that Such and such cattle and crops Are taboo, and
6:138 none should Eat of them except those Whom- so they say- We Wish;
6:138 further, there are Cattle forbidden to yoke Or burden, and cattle
6:138 On which (at slaughter), The name of Allah is not Pronounced;
6:138 -inventions Against Allah's name: soon Will He requite them For
6:138 their inventions.
6:139 They say: "What is In the wombs of Such and such cattle Is
6:139 specially reserved (For food) for our men, And forbidden to our
6:139 women; But if it is still-born, Then all have shares therein." For
6:139 their (false) attribution (Of superstitions to Allah), He will soon
6:139 punish them: For He is full Of wisdom and knowledge.
6:141 It is He Who produceth Gardens, with trellises And without, and
6:141 dates, And tilth with produce Of all kinds, and olives And
6:141 pomegranates, Similar (in kind) And different (in variety): Eat
6:141 of their fruit In their season, but render The dues that are proper
6:141 On the day that the harvest Is gathered. But waste not By excess:
6:141 for Allah Loveth not the wasters.
6:146 For those who followed The Jewish Law, We forbade Every (animal)
6:146 with Undivided hoof, And We forbade them The fat of the ox And the
6:146 sheep, except What adheres to their backs Or their entrails, Or is
6:146 mixed up With a bone: This in recompense For their wilful
6:146 disobedience: For We are True (In Our ordinances).
6:150 Say: "Bring forward your witnesses To prove that Allah did Forbid
6:150 so and so." If they Bring such witnesses, Be not thou amongst them:
6:150 Nor follow thou the vain Desires of such as treat Our Signs as
6:150 falsehoods, And such as believe not In the Hereafter: for they Hold
6:150 others as equal With their Guardian-Lord.
6:150 SECTION 19.
6:157 Or lest ye should say: "If the Book had only Been sent down to us,
6:157 We should have followed Its guidance better than they." Now then
6:157 hath come Unto you a Clear (Sign) From your Lord,- and a guide And
6:157 a mercy: then who Could do more wrong Than one who rejecteth
6:157 Allah's Signs, and turneth Away therefrom? In good time Shall We
6:157 requite those Who turn away from Our Signs, With a dreadful
6:157 penalty, For their turning away.
6:164 Say: "Shall I seek For (my) Cherisher Other than Allah, When He is
6:164 the Cherisher Of all things (that exist)? Every soul draws the meed
6:164 Of its acts on none But itself: no bearer Of burdens can bear The
6:164 burden of another. Your goal in the end Is towards Allah: He will
6:164 tell You the truth of the things Wherein ye disputed.
7: 10 It is We Who have Placed you with authority On earth, and provided
7: 10 You therein with means For the fulfilment of your life : Small
7: 10 are the thanks That ye give!
7: 10 SECTION 2.
7: 13 (Allah) said:"Get thee down From this: it is not For thee to be
7: 13 arrogant, Here get out, for thou Art of the meanest(of creatures)."
7: 25 He said:"Therein shall ye Live, and therin shall ye Die: but
7: 25 from it shall ye Be taken out (at last).
7: 25 SECTION 3.
7: 27 O ye Children of Adam! Let not Satan seduce you, In the same
7: 27 manner as He got your parents out Of the Garden, stripping them
7: 27 Of their raiment, to expose Their shame: for he And his tribe
7: 27 watch you From a position where ye Cannot see them: We made The
7: 27 Evil Ones friends (Only) to those without Faith.
7: 35 O ye Children of Adam! Whenever there come to you Apostles from
7: 35 amongst you, Rehearsing My Signs unto you,- Those who are righteous
7: 35 And mend (their lives),- On them shall be no fear, Nor shall they
7: 35 grieve.
7: 36 But those who reject Our Signs and treat them With arrogance,-
7: 36 they Are Companions of the Fire, To dwell therein (for ever).
7: 37 Who is more unjust Than one who invents A lie against Allah Or
7: 37 rejects His Signs? For such, their portion Appointed must reach
7: 37 them From the Book (of Decrees); Until, when Our messengers (Of
7: 37 death) arrive and take Their souls, they say: "Where are the things
7: 37 That ye used to invoke Besides Allah?" They will reply, "They Have
7: 37 left us in the lurch," And they will bear witness Against
7: 37 themselves, that they Had rejected Allah.
7: 40 To those who reject Our Signs and treat them With arrogance, no
7: 40 opening Will there be of the gates Of heaven, nor will they Enter
7: 40 the Garden, until The camel can pass Through the eye of the needle:
7: 40 Such is Our reward For those in sin.
7: 41 For them there is Hell, as a couch (Below) and folds and folds Of
7: 41 covering above: such Is Our requital of those Who do wrong.
7: 42 But those who believe And work righteousness,- No burden do We
7: 42 place On any soul, but that Which it can bear,- They will be
7: 42 Companions Of the Garden, therein To dwell (for ever).
7: 45 "Those who would hinder (men) From the path of Allah And would seek
7: 45 in it Something crooked: They were those who Denied the Hereafter."
7: 46 Between them shall be A veil and on the Heights Will be men Who
7: 46 would know everyone By his marks: they will call Out to the
7: 46 Companions Of the Garden, "Peace on you": They will not have
7: 46 entered, But they will have An assurance (thereof).
7: 57 It is He Who sendeth The Winds like heralds Of glad tidings, going
7: 57 before His Mercy: when they have Carried the heavy-laden Clouds, We
7: 57 drive them To a land that is dead, Make rain to descend thereon,
7: 57 And produce every kind Of harvest therewith: thus Shall We raise up
7: 57 the dead: Perchance ye may remember.
7: 61 He said:"O my people! No wandering is there In my (mind): on the
7: 61 contrary I am an apostle from The Lord and Cherisher Of the Worlds!
7: 63 "Do ye wonder that There hath come to you A message from your Lord,
7: 63 Through a man of your own People, to warn you,- So that ye may fear
7: 63 Allah And haply receive His Mercy?"
7: 69 "Do ye wonder that There hath come to you A messege from your Lord
7: 69 Through a man of your own People, to warn you? Call in remembrance
7: 69 That He made you Inheritors after the people Of Noah, and gave you
7: 69 A stature tall among the nations. Call in remembrance The benefits
7: 69 (ye have received) From Allah: that so Ye may prosper."
7: 72 Who saved him and those Who adhered to 'him. By our Mercy, and We
7: 72 Cut off the roots of those Who rejected Our Signs And did not
7: 72 believe.
7: 72 SECTION 10.
7: 87 "And if there is a party Among you who believes In the Message with
7: 87 which I have been sent, and a party Which does not believe, Hold
7: 87 yourselves in patience Until Allah doth decide Between us: for He
7: 87 Is the best to decide."
7: 89 "We should indeed invent A lie against Allah, If we returned to
7: 89 your ways After Allah hath rescued Us therefrom: nor could we By
7: 89 any manner of means Return thereto unless it be As in the Will and
7: 89 Plan of Allah, Our Lord. Our Lord Can reach out to the utmost
7: 89 Recesses of things by His Knowledge. In Allah is our trust. Our
7: 89 Lord! Decide thou Between us and our people In truth, for Thou
7: 89 Art the best to decide."
7: 92 The men who rejcted Shu'aib became as if They had never been In the
7: 92 homes where they Had flourished; the men Who rejected Shu'aib- It
7: 92 was they who were ruined!
7:101 Such were the towns Whose story We (thus) Relate unto thee: There
7:101 came indeed to them Their apostles with clear (Signs): But they
7:101 would not believe What they had rejected before. Thus doth Allah
7:101 seal up The heart of those Who reject Faith.
7:113 So there came The sorcerers to Pharaoh: They said "Of course We
7:113 shall have a (suitable) Reward if we win!"
7:119 So the (great ones) were vanquished There and then, and were Made
7:119 to look small.
7:132 They said (to Moses): "Whatever be the Signs Thou bringest, to
7:132 work Therewith the sorcery on us, We shall never believe In thee."
7:137 And We made a people, Considered weak (and of no account),
7:137 Inheritors of lands In both East and West,- Lands whereon We sent
7:137 Down Our blessings. The fair promise of the Lord Was fulfilled for
7:137 the Children Of Israel, because they had Patience and constancy,
7:137 And We levelled to the ground The great Works and fine Buildings
7:137 Which Pharaoh and his people Erected (with such pride).
7:147 Those who reject Our Signs And the Meeting in the Hereafter,- Vain
7:147 are their deeds: Can they except to be rewarded Except as they have
7:147 wrought?
7:147 SECTION 18.
7:153 But those who do wrong But repent thereafter and (Truly) believe,-
7:153 verily Thy Lord is thereafter Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
7:154 When the anger of Moses Was appeased, he took up The Tablets:
7:154 in the writing Thereon was Guidance and Mercy for such as fear
7:154 their Lord.
7:156 "And ordain for us That which is good, In this life And in the
7:156 Hereafter: For we have turned unto Thee. "He said : "With My
7:156 Punishment I visit whom I will; But My Mercy extendeth To all
7:156 things. That (Mercy) I shall ordain for those Who do right, and
7:156 practise Regular charity, and those Who believe in Our Signs;-
7:158 "Say :"O men! I am sent Unto you all , as the Apostle Of Allah,
7:158 to Whom belongeth The dominion of the heavens, And the earth:
7:158 there is no god But He : it is He that giveth Both life and death,
7:158 So believe In Allah and His Apostle, The unlettered Prophet, Who
7:158 believed in Allah And His Words: follow him That (so) ye may be
7:158 guided."
7:159 Of the people of Moses There is a section Who guide and do justice
7:159 In the light of truth.
7:160 We diveded them into twelve Tribes Or nations. We directed Moses
7:160 by inspiration, When his (thirsty) people asked Him for water:
7:160 "Strike the rock With thy staff": out of it There gushed forth
7:160 twelve springs: Each group knew its own place For water. We gave
7:160 them The shade of clouds, and sent Down to them manna and quails,
7:160 (saying):"Eat of the good things We have provided for you":
7:160 (But they rebelled); to Us They did no harm but They harmed
7:160 their own souls.
7:168 We broke them up Into sections on this earth. There are among them
7:168 some That are the righteous, and some That are the opposite, We
7:168 have tried them With both prosperity and adversity: In order that
7:168 they Might turn (to Us).
7:169 After them succeeded An (evil) generation: they Inherited the Book,
7:169 but They chose (for themselves) The vanities of this world, Saying
7:169 (for excuse): "(Everything) Will be forgiven us." (Even so), if
7:169 similar vanities Came their way, they would (Again) seize them. Was
7:169 not the covenant Of the Book taken from them, That they would not
7:169 Ascribe to Allah anything But the truth? And they Study what is in
7:169 the Book. But best for the righteous Is the Home in the Hereafter:
7:169 Will ye not understand?
7:171 When We shook the Mount Over them, as if it had been A canopy, and
7:171 they thought It was going to fall on them (We said): "Hold firmly,
7:171 To what We have given you And bring (even) to remembrance What is
7:171 therein; Perchance ye may fear Allah."
7:171 SECTION 22.
7:179 Many are the Jinns and men We have made for Hell: They have hearts
7:179 wherewith they Understand not, eyes wherewith They see not, and
7:179 ears wherewith They hear not. They are Like cattle,- nay more
7:179 Misguided: for they Are heedless (of warning).
7:181 O those We have created Are people who direct (Others) with truth,
7:181 And dispense justice therewith.
7:181 SECTION 23.
7:186 To such as Allah rejects From His guidance, there can be No guide;
7:186 He will Leave them in their trespasses, Wandering in distraction.
7:187 They ask thee about The (final) Hour- when Will be its appointed
7:187 time? Say: "The knowledge thereof Is with my Lord (alone): None but
7:187 He can reveal As to when it will occur. Heavy were its burden
7:187 through The heavens and the earth. Only, all of a sudden, Will it
7:187 come to you." They ask thee as if thou Wert eager in search
7:187 thereof: Say: "The knowledge thereof Is with Allah (alone), But
7:187 most men know not."
8: 10 Allah made it but a message Of hope, and an assurance To your
8: 10 hearts: (in any case) There is no help Except from Allah: And Allah
8: 10 is Exalted in Power, Wise.
8: 10 SECTION 2.
8: 11 Remember He covered you With a sort of drowsiness, To give you calm
8: 11 as from Himself, and He caused Rain to descend on you From heaven,
8: 11 to clean you Therewith, to remove from you The stain of Satan, To
8: 11 strengthen your hearts, And to plant your feet Firmly therewith.
8: 24 O ye who believe! Give your response to Allah And His Apostle, when
8: 24 He calleth you to that which Will give you life; And know that
8: 24 Allah Cometh in between a man And his heart, and that It is He to
8: 24 Whom Ye shall (all) be gathered.
8: 36 The Unbelievers spend their wealth To hinder (men) from the path Of
8: 36 Allah, and so will they Continue to spend; but In the end they will
8: 36 have (Only) regrets and sighs; At length they will be overcome; And
8: 36 the Unbelivers will be Gathered together to Hell;-
8: 39 And fight them on Until there is no more Tumult or oppression. And
8: 39 there prevail Justice and faith in Allah Altogether and everywhere;
8: 39 But if they cease, verily Allah Doth see all that they do.
8: 65 O Apostle! rouse the Believers To the fight. If there are Twenty
8: 65 amongst you, patient And persevering, they will Vanquish two
8: 65 hundred: if a hundred, They will vanquish a thousand Of the
8: 65 Unbelievers: for these Are a people without understanding.
8: 66 For the present, Allah Hath lightened your (task), For He knoweth
8: 66 that there is A weak spot in you: But (even so), if there are A
8: 66 hundred of you, patient And persevering, they will Vanquish two
8: 66 hundred, and if A thousand, they will vanquish Two thousand, with
8: 66 the leave Of Allah: for Allah is with those Who patiently persevere
8: 66 perservere.
8: 67 It is not fitting for an Apostle That he should have Prisoners of
8: 67 war until He hath thoroughly subdued The land. Ye look On the
8: 67 temporal goods Of this world; but Allah Looketh to the Hereafter;
8: 67 And Allah is Exalted in Might, Wise.
8: 73 The Unbelievers are Protectors, one of another: Unless ye do this,
8: 73 (Protect each other), There would be Tumult and oppression On
8: 73 earth, and great mischief.
9: 5 But when the forbidden months Are past, then fight and slay The
9: 5 Pagans wherever ye findthem And seize them, beleaguer them And lie
9: 5 in wait for them In every stratagem(of war); But if they repent,
9: 5 And establish regular prayers And practise regular charity, then
9: 5 open the way for them: For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
9: 6 If one amongst the Pagans Ask thee for asylum, Grant it to him
9: 6 So that he may hear the Word of Allah and then escort him To where
9: 6 he can be secure: That is because they are Men without knowledge.
9: 6 SECTION 2.
9: 7 How can there be a league Before Allah and His Apostle, With the
9: 7 Pagans, except those With whom ye made a treaty Near the Sacred
9: 7 Mosque? As long as these stand true To you, stand ye true to them:
9: 7 For Allah doth love the righteous.
9: 8 How(can there be such a league)Seeing thah if they get an advantage
9: 8 Over you they respect not In you the ties either of kinship Or of
9: 8 covenant? With (fair words From) thier mouths they enitce you But
9: 8 their hearts are averse From you; and most of them Are rebellious.
9: 21 Their Lord doth give them Glad tidings of a Mercy From Himself,
9: 21 of His good pleasure And of Gardens for them, wherein are delights
9: 21 That endure:
9: 22 They will dwell therein Forever. Verily in Allah's Presence
9: 22 Is a reward the greatest (of all)
9: 31 They take their priests And their anchorits to be Their lords in
9: 31 derogation of Allah' And (they take as their Lords) Christ the son
9: 31 of Mary; Yet they were commanded To worship but One Allah: There is
9: 31 no god but He. Praise and glory to Him : (Far is He) from having
9: 31 The parents they associate (With Him).
9: 34 O ye who believe! There are Indeed many among the priests And
9: 34 anchorites who in falsehood Levour the substance of men And hinder
9: 34 (them) from the Way Of Allah. And there are those Who bury gold and
9: 34 silver And spend it not in the Why Of Allah announce unto them A
9: 34 most grievous penalty-
9: 37 Verily the transposing (Of a prohibited month) Is an addition to
9: 37 Unbelief: The Unbelievers are led To wrong thereby : for they
9: 37 make It lawful one year And forbidden another year In order to
9: 37 adjust the number Of months forbidden by Allah And Make such
9: 37 forbidden ones Lawful. The evil of their course Seems pleasing to
9: 37 them But Allah guideth not Those who reject Faith
9: 37 SECTION 6.
9: 38 O ye who belive! What Is the matter with you Then, when ye are
9: 38 asked To go forth in the Cause of Allah Ye cling heavily to the
9: 38 earth? Do ye prefer the life Of this world to the Hereafter? But
9: 38 little is the comfort Of this life as compared With the Hereafter.
9: 42 If there had been Immediate gain (in sight), And the journey easy
9: 42 They would (all) without doubt Have followed thee, but The distance
9: 42 was long (And weighed) on them. They would indeed swear By Allah,
9: 42 "If we only could, We should certainly Have come out with you":
9: 42 They would destroy their own souls: For Allah doth know That they
9: 42 are certainly lying.
9: 42 SECTION 7.
9: 46 If they had intended To come out they would Certainly have made
9: 46 Some preparation therefor; But Allah was averse To their being
9: 46 sent forth; So He made them lag behind And they were told "Sit
9: 46 ye among those Who sit (inactive)."
9: 47 If they had come out With you they would not Have added to
9: 47 your (strength) But only (made for) disorder Hurryiug to and
9: 47 fro in your midst And sowing sedition among you, And there would
9: 47 have been Some among you Who whoud have listened to them: But
9: 47 Allah knoweth well Those who do wrong.
9: 57 If they could find A place to flee to Or caves or a place Of
9: 57 concealment they would Turn straightway thereto With and obstinate
9: 57 rush.
9: 58 And among them are men Who slander thee in the matter Of
9: 58 (the distribution of) the alms: If they are given part thereof,
9: 58 They are pleased but if not Behold ! they are indignant!
9: 63 Know they not that for those Who oppose Allah And His Apostle Is
9: 63 the Fire of Hell? - Wherein they shall dwell. That is the
9: 63 supreme disgrace.
9: 68 Allah hath promised the Hypocrites Men and women and the rejecters
9: 68 Of Faith the fire of Hell: There in shall they dwell: Sufficient
9: 68 is it for them: For them is the curse of Allah ; And an enduring
9: 68 punishment,-
9: 69 As in the case of those Before you :they were Mightier than
9: 69 you in power And more flourishing in wealth And children .
9: 69 They had Their enjoyment of their portion: And ye have of yours as
9: 69 did Those before you; and ye Indulge in idle talk As they did.
9: 69 They!- Their works are fruitless In this world and in the Hereafter
9: 69 And they will lose (All spiritual good).
9: 72 Allah hath promised to Believers, Men and women Gardens Under
9: 72 which rivers flow To dwell therein And beautiful mansions In
9: 72 Gardens of everlasting bliss. But the greatest bliss Is the Good
9: 72 Pleasure of Allah: That is the supreme felicilty.
9: 72 SECTION 10.
9: 74 They swear by Allah that they Said nothing (evil) but indeed
9: 74 They uttered blasphemy And they did it after accepting Islam; and
9: 74 they meditated 1331 A plot which they were unable To carry out:
9: 74 this revenge Of theirs was (their) only return For the bounty
9: 74 with which Allah and His Apostle hand enriched Them! If they
9: 74 repent It will be best for them ; But if they turn back
9: 74 (To their evil ways), Allah will punish them With a grievous
9: 74 penalty In this life and in the Hereafter: They shall have
9: 74 none on earth To protect or help them.
9: 77 So He hath put as a consequence Hypocrisy into their hearts
9: 77 (To last) till the day whereon They shall meet Him: because They
9: 77 broke their Covenant With Allah and because they lied
9: 77 (again and again).
9: 89 Allah hath prepared for them Gardens under which rivers flow, To
9: 89 dwell therein : That is the supreme felicity.
9: 89 SECTION 12.
9: 90 And there were among The desert Arabs (also) Men who Made excuses
9: 90 And came to claim exemption; And those who were false To Allah
9: 90 and His Apostle (Merely) sat inactive. Soon will a grievous penalty
9: 90 Seize the Unbelievers Among them.
9: 91 There is no blame On those who are infirm Or ill or who find
9: 91 No resources to spend (On the Cause) if they Are sincere
9: 91 (in duty) to Allah And His Apostle: No ground (of complaint)
9: 91 Can there be against such As do right : and Allah Is Oft-Forgiving
9: 91 Most Merciful.
9: 92 Nor (is there blame) On those who came to thee To be provided with
9: 92 mounts And when thou saidst,"I can find no mounts For you,"
9: 92 they turned back Their eyes streaming with tears Of grief
9: 92 that they had No resources wherewith To provide the expenses.
9:100 The vanguard (of Islam)- The first of those who forsook (Their
9:100 homes ) and of those Who gave them aid, and (also) Those who follow
9:100 them In (all) good deeds,- Well-pleased is Allah with them, As
9:100 are they with Him: For them hath He prepared Gardensunder which
9:100 rivers flow, To dwell therein for ever: That is the supreme
9:100 Felicity.
9:102 Others (there are who) have Acknowledged their wrong-doings:
9:102 They have mixed an act That was good with another That was evil
9:102 Perhaps Allah Will turn unto them (in mercy): For Allah is Oft-
9:102 Forgiving; Most Merciful.
9:106 There are (yet) others, Held in suspense for the command Of Allah,
9:106 whether He will Punish them, or turn in mercy Ts them: and Allah
9:106 Is All-Knowing, Wise.
9:107 And there are those Who put up a mosque By way of mischief and
9:107 infidelity- To disunite the Believers- And in preparation for one
9:107 Who warred against Allah And His Apostle aforetime. They will
9:107 indeed swear That their intention is nothing But good; but Allah
9:107 doth declare That they are certainly liars.
9:108 Never stand thou forth therein. There is a mosque whose foundation
9:108 Was laid from the first day On piety; it is more worthy Of thy
9:108 standing forth (for prayer) Therein. In it are men who Love to be
9:108 purified; and Allah Loveth those who make themselves pure.
9:118 (He turned in mercy also) To the three who were left. Behind:
9:118 (they felt guilty) To such a degree that the earth Seemed constrai-
9:118 ned to them. For all its speciousness, And their (very) Souls
9:118 seemed Straitened to them,-And they perceived that There is no
9:118 fleeing from Allah And no refuge but to Himself, Then He turned to
9:118 them, That they might repent: For Allah is Oft-Returning, Most
9:118 Merciful.
9:118 SECTION 15.
9:124 Whenever there cometh down A sura, some of them say:"Which of you
9:124 has had His faith increased by it? "Yea, those who believe,-Their
9:124 faith is increased, And they do rejoice.
9:127 Whenever there cometh down A Sura, they look at each other,
9:127 (Saying), "Doth anyone see you?" Then they turn aside: Allah hath
9:127 turned their hearts (From the light); for they Are a people that
9:127 understand not.
9:129 But if they turn away Say: "Allah sufficeth me:There is no god
9:129 but He: On Him is my trust He the Lord of the Throne (Of Glory)
9:129 Supreme!"
10: 3 Verily your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens And the earth
10: 3 in six Days, And is firmly established On the Throne (of authority)
10: 3 Regulating and governing all things. No intercessor (can plead with
10: 3 him) Except after His leave (Hath been obtained). This Is Allah
10: 3 your Lord; Him therefore Serve ye : will ye not Celebrate His
10: 3 praises?
10: 10 (This will be) their cry therein:"Glory to Thee, O Allah! And
10: 10 "Peace" will be their greeting therein! And the close of their cry
10: 10 Will be:"Praise be to Allah, The Cherisher and Sustainer Of the
10: 10 Worlds!"
10: 10 SECTION 2.
10: 22 He it is Who enableth you To traverse through land And sea; so
10: 22 that ye even board Ships;-they sail with them With a favourable
10: 22 wind, And they rejoice thereat; Then comes a stormy wind And the
10: 22 waves come to them From all sides, and they think They are
10: 22 being overwhelmed: They cry unto Allah, sincerely Offering
10: 22 (their) duty unto Him,Saying, "If Thou dost deliver us From this,
10: 22 we shall truly Show our gratitude."
10: 24 The likeness of the life Of the Present is As the rain which We
10: 24 Send down from the skies: By its mingling arises The produce of
10: 24 the earth- Which provides food For men and animals: (It grows) :
10: 24 till the earth Is clad with its golden Ornaments and is decked out
10: 24 (In beauty): the people to whom It belongs think they have All
10: 24 powers of disposal over it: There reaches it Our command By night
10: 24 or by day, And we make it Like a harvest clean-mown As if it had
10: 24 not flourished Only the day before! Thus do We explain The Signs
10: 24 in detail For those who reflect.
10: 26 To those who do right Is a goodly (reward)_ Yea, more (than in
10: 26 measure) ! No darkness nor shame Shall cover their faces ! They are
10: 26 Companions of the Garden; They will abide therein (For aye)!
10: 27 But those who have earned Evil will have a reward Of like evil:
10: 27 (ignominy) Will cover their (faces): No defender will they have
10: 27 From (the wrath of) Allah: Their faces will be covered, As it
10: 27 were, with pieces From the depth of the darkness of Night: they
10: 27 are Companions Of the Fire : they will Abide therein (for aye)!
10: 30 There will every soul prove (The fruits of) the deeds It sent
10: 30 before: they will Be brought back to Allah Their rightful Lord,
10: 30 And their invented falsehoods Will leave them in the lurch.
10: 30 SECTION 4.
10: 35 Say: " Of your 'partners' Is there any that Can give any guidance
10: 35 Towards Truth?" Say : "It is Allah Who gives guidance Towards Truth
10: 35 Is then He Who gives guidance to Truth More worthy to be followed,
10: 35 Or he who finds no guidance (Himself) unless he is guided? What
10: 35 then is the matter With you? How judge ye?"
10: 37 This Qur-an is not such As can be produced By other than Allah :
10: 37 On the contrary it is A confirmation of (revelations) That went
10: 37 before it, And a fuller explanation Of the Book -wherein There is
10: 37 no doubt- From the Lord of the Worlds.
10: 39 Nay, they charge with falsehood That whose knowledge they Cannot
10: 39 compass, even before The elucidation thereof Hath reached them;
10: 39 thus Did those before them Make charges of falsehood: But see what
10: 39 was the end Of those who did wrong !
10: 40 Of them there are some Who believe therein, And some who do not :
10: 40 And thy Lord knoweth best Those who are out for mischief.
10: 40 SECTION 5.
10: 57 O mankind ! there hath come To you a direction from your Lord And a
10: 57 healing for the (diseases ) In your hearts,- and for those Who
10: 57 belive, a Guidance And a Mercy.
10: 59 Say: "See ye what things Allah hath sent down to you For
10: 59 sustenance? Yet ye Hold forbidden some things Thereof and
10: 59 (something) lawful." Say: "Hath Allah indeed Permitted you, or do
10: 59 ye invent (Things) to attribute to Allah ? "
10: 61 In whatever business thou Mayest be , and whatever portion Thou
10: 61 mayest be reciting From the Qur-an ,_and whatever Deed ye (mankind)
10: 61 may bedoing ,_We are Witnesses thereof When ye are deeply engossed
10: 61 Therein. Nor is hidden From thy Lord (so much as) The weight of an
10: 61 atom On the earth or in heaven. And not the least And not the
10: 61 greatest Of these things but are recorded In a clear Record.
10: 62 Behold !verily on the friends Of Allah there is no fear, Nor shall
10: 62 they grieve ;
10: 64 For them are Glad Tidings , In the life of the Present And in the
10: 64 Hereafter : No change can there be In the Words of Allah. This is
10: 64 indeed The superme Felicity .
10: 67 He it is that hath Made you the Night That ye may rest therein, And
10: 67 the Day to make Things visible ( to you ). Verily in this are
10: 67 Signs For those who liste
