2: 41 And believe in what I reveal, confirming the revelation Which is 2: 41 with you And be not the first to reject Faith therein, nor sell My 2: 41 Sign For a small price; and fear Me, And Me alone. 2: 79 Then woe to those who write The Book with their own hands And then 2: 79 say: "This is from Allah," To traffic with it For a miscrable 2: 79 price!- Woe to them for what their hands Do write, and the gain 2: 79 They make thereby. 2: 86 These are the people who buy The life of this world at the price Of 2: 86 the hereafter: their penalty Shall not be lightened, Nor shall they 2: 86 be helped. 2: 86 SECTION 11. 2: 90 Miserable is the price For which they have sold Their souls, in 2: 90 that they Deny (the revelation) Which Allah has sent down, In 2: 90 insolent envy that Allah Of His Grace should send it To any of His 2: 90 servants He pleases: Thus have they drawn On themselves Wrath upon 2: 90 Wrath, And humiliating is the punishment Of those who reject Faith. 2:102 They followed what the evil ones Gave out (falsely) Against the 2:102 power Of solomon: the blasphemers Were, not Solomon, but The evil 2:102 ones, teaching men Magic, and such things As came down at Babylon 2:102 To the angels Harut and Marut. But neither of these taught any one 2:102 (Such things) without saying: "We are only for trial; So do not 2:102 blaspheme." They learned from them The means to sow discord Between 2:102 man and wife. But they could not thus Harm any one except By 2:102 Allah's permission. And they learned what harmed them, Not what 2:102 profited them. And they knew that the buyers Of (magic) would have 2:102 No share in the happiness Of the Hereafter. And vile Was the price 2:102 of which They did sell their souls, If they but knew! 3: 77 As for those who sell The faith they owe to Allah And their own 3: 77 plighted word For a small price, They shall have no portion In the 3: 77 Hereafter: Nor will Allah (Deign to) speak to them Or look at them 3: 77 On the Day of Judgement, Nor will He cleanse them (Of sin): they 3: 77 shall have A grievous Penalty. 3:177 Those who purchase Unbelief at the price Of faith,- Not the least 3:177 harm Will they so do to Allah, But they will have A grievous 3:177 punishment. 5: 47 It was We Who revealed The Law (to Moses); therein Was guidance and 5: 47 light. By its standard have been judged The Jews, by the Prophet 5: 47 Who bowed (as in Islam) To Allah's Will, by the Rabbis And the 5: 47 Doctors of Law: For to them was entrusted The protection of Allah's 5: 47 Book, And they were witnesses there to: Therefore fear not men, But 5: 47 fear Me, and sell not My Signs for a miserable price If any do fail 5: 47 to judge By (the light of) what Allah Hath revealed, they are (No 5: 47 better than) Unbelievers. 9: 9 and wicked The Signs of Allah have they sold For a miserable price 9: 9 And (many) have they hindered From His Way: evil indeed Are the 9: 9 deeds they have done. 11: 15 Those who desire The life of the Present And its glitter, -to them 11: 15 We shall pay (the price Of) their deeds therein, -Without 11: 15 diminution. 12: 20 The (Brethren) sold him For a miserable price,- For a few dirhams 12: 20 counted out : In such low estimation Did they hold him! 12: 20 SECTION 3. 16: 95 Nor sell the Covenant of Allah For a miserable price: For with 16: 95 Allah is (a prize) Far better for you, If ye only knew .

2: 75 Can ye (O ye men of Faith) Entertain the hope that they Will 2: 75 believe in you?- Seeing that a party of them Heard the Word of 2: 75 Allah And perverted it knowingly After they understood it. 2: 85 After this it is ye, the same people, Who slay among yourselves, 2: 85 And banish a party of you From their homes; assist (Their enemies) 2: 85 against them, In guilt and rancour; And if they come to you As 2: 85 captives, ye ransom them, Though it was not lawful For you to 2: 85 banish them. Then is it only a part of the Book That ye believe in, 2: 85 And do ye reject the rest? But what is the reward for those Among 2: 85 you who behave like this But disgrace in this life?- And on the Day 2: 85 of judgment They shall be consigned To the most grievous penalty. 2: 85 For Allah is not unmindful Of what ye do. 2:100 It is not (the case) that Every time they make a covenant, Some 2:100 party among them Throw it aside?- Nay, Most of them are faithless. 2:101 And when came to them An apostle from Allah, Confirming what was 2:101 with them, A party of the People of the book Threw away the Book of 2:101 Allah Behind their backs, As if (it had been something) They did 2:101 not know! 2:182 But if any one fears Paritiality or wrong-doing On the part of the 2:182 testator, And makes peace between (The parties concerned). There is 2:182 no wrong in him: For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 2:182 SECTION 23. 2:229 A divorce is only Permissible twice: after that, The parties should 2:229 either hold Together on equitable terms Or separate with kindness. 2:229 It is not lawful for you, (Men) to take back Any of your gifts 2:229 (from your wives), Except when both parties Fear that they would be 2:229 Unable to keep the limits Ordained by Allah, If ye (judges) do 2:229 indeed Fear that they would be Unable to keep the limits Ordained 2:229 by Allah, There is no blame on either Of them if she give Something 2:229 for her freedom. These are the limits Ordained by Allah; So do not 2:229 transgress them. If any do transgress The limits ordained by Allah, 2:229 Such persons wrong (Themselves as well as others). 2:259 Or (take) the similitude Of one who passed By a hamlet, all ruins 2:259 To its roofs. He said: "Oh! how shall Allah Bring it (ever) to 2:259 After (this) its death?" But Allah caused him To die for a hundred 2:259 years, Then raised him up (again). He said: "How long Didst thou 2:259 tarry (thus)?" He said: "(Perhaps) a day Or part of a day." He 2:259 said: "Nay, thou hast tarried Thus a hundred years; But look at thy 2:259 food And thy drink; they show No signs of age; and look At thy 2:259 donkey: and that We may make of thee A Sign unto the people, Look 2:259 further at the bones, How We bring them together And clothe them 2:259 with flesh!" When this was shown clearly To him, he said: "I know 2:259 That Allah hath power Over all things." 2:282 O ye who believe! When ye deal with each other, In transactions 2:282 involving Future obligations In a fixed period of time, 2:282 Reduce them to writing. Let a scribe write down Faithfully as 2:282 between The parties: let not the scribe Refuse to write: as Allah 2:282 Has taught him, So let him write. Let him who incurs The liability 2:282 dictate, But let him fear His Lord Allah, And not diminish Aught 2:282 of what he owes. If the party liable Is mentally deficient, Or 2:282 weak, or unable Himself to dictate, Let his guardian Dictate 2:282 faithfully. And get two witnesses, Out of your own men, And if 2:282 there are not two men, Then a man and two women, Such as ye choose, 2:282 For witnesses, So that if one of them errs, The other can remind 2:282 her. The witnesses Should not refuse When they are called on (For 2:282 evidence). Disdain not to reduce To writing (your contract) For a 2:282 future period, Whether it be small Or big: it is juster In the 2:282 sight of Allah, More suitable as evidence, And more convenient To 2:282 prevent doubts Among yourselves But if it be a transaction Which 2:282 ye carry out On the spot among yourselves, There is no blame on 2:282 you If ye reduce it not To writing. But take witnesses Whenever ye 2:282 make A commercial contract; And let neither scribe Nor witness 2:282 suffer harm, If ye do (such harm), It would be wickedness In you 2:282 So fear Allah; For it is Allah That teaches you. And Allah is well 2:282 acquainted With all things. 3: 7 He it is Who has sent down To thee the Book: In it are verses Basic 3: 7 or fundamental (Of established meaning); They are the foundation of 3: 7 the Book: others Are allegorical. But those In whose hearts is per- 3: 7 versity follow The part thereof that is allegorical,Seeking discord 3: 7 and searching For its hidden meanings, But no one knows Its hidden 3: 7 meanings except Allah. And those who are firmly grounded In knowled 3: 7 ge say: "We believe In the Book; the whole of it Is from our Lord": 3: 7 and none Will grasp the Message Except men of understanding. 3: 23 Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those Who have been given a 3: 23 portion Of the Book? They are Invited to the Book of Allah, To 3: 23 settle their dispute, But a party of them Turn back and decline 3: 23 (The arbitration). 3: 44 This is part of the things Of the things unseen, Which We reveal un 3: 44 to thee (O Apostle) by inspiration: Thou wast not with them When 3: 44 they cast lots With arrows, as to which Of them should be charged 3: 44 With the care of Mary: Nor wast thou with them When they disputed 3: 44 (the point). 3: 50 "'(I have come to you), To attest the Law Which was before me, And 3: 50 to make lawful To you part of what was (Before) forbidden to you; 3: 50 I have come to you With a Sign from your Lord, So fear Allah, And 3: 50 obey me. 3: 52 When Jesus found Unbelief on their part He said: "Who will be My 3: 52 helpers to (the work Of) Allah?" Said the Disciples: "We are 3: 52 Allah's helpers: We believe in Allah, And do thou bear witness 3: 52 That we are Muslims. 3: 64 Say: "O people Of the Book! come To common terms As between us and 3: 64 you: That we worship None but Allah; That we associate No partners 3: 64 with Him; That we erect not, From among ourselves, Lords and 3: 64 patrons Other than Allah." If then they turn back, Say: "Bear 3: 64 witness That we (at least) Are Muslims (bowing To Allah's Will)." 3: 78 There is among them A section who distort The Book with their 3: 78 tongues. (As they read) you would think It is a part of the Book, 3: 78 But it is no part Of the Book; and they say, "That is from Allah," 3: 78 But it is not from Allah: 3: 78 It is they who tell A lie against Allah, And (well) 3: 78 they know it! 3:122 Remember two of your parties Meditated cowardice; But Allah was 3:122 their protector, And in Allah should the Faithful (Ever) put their 3:122 trust. 3:159 It is part of the Mercy Of Allah that thou dost deal Gently with 3:159 them . Wert thou severe Or harsh- hearted, They would have broken 3:159 away From about thee: so pass over (Their faults), and ask For 3:159 (Allah's) forgiveness For them; and consult Them in affairs 3:159 (of moment). Then, when thou hast Taken a decision, Put thy trust 3:159 in Allah. For Allah loves those Who put their trust (in Him). 4: 4 And give the women (On marriage) their dower As a free gift, but if 4: 4 they, Of their own good pleasure, Remit any part of it to you, Take 4: 4 it and enjoy it With right good cheer. 4: 19 O ye who believe! Ye are forbidden to inherit Women against their 4: 19 will. Nor should ye treat them With harshness, that ye may Take 4: 19 away part of the dower Ye have given them,- except Where they have 4: 19 been guilty Of open lewdness; On the contrary live with them On a 4: 19 footing of kindness and equity. If ye take a dislike to them It may 4: 19 be that ye dislike A thing, and Allah brings about Through it a 4: 19 great deal of good. 4: 34 Men are the protectors And maintainers of women, Because Allah has 4: 34 given The one more (strength) Than the other, and because They 4: 34 support them From their means. Therefore the righteous women Are 4: 34 devoutly obedient, and guard In (the husband's) absence What Allah 4: 34 would have them guard. As to those women On whose part ye fear 4: 34 Disloyalty and ill-conduct, Admonish them (first), (Next), refuse 4: 34 to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly): But if they 4: 34 return to obedience, Seek not against them Means (of annoyance): 4: 34 For Allah is Most High, Great (above you all). 4: 36 Serve Allah, and join not Any partners with Him: And do good- To 4: 36 parents, kinsfolk, Orphans, those in need, Neighbours who are near, 4: 36 Neighbours who are strangers, The Companion by your side, The 4: 36 way-farer (ye meet), And what your right hands possess: For Allah 4: 36 loveth not The arrogant, the vainglorious;- 4: 48 Allah forgiveth not That partners should be set up With Him; but He 4: 48 forgiveth Anything else, to whom He pleaseth; to set up Partners 4: 48 with Allah Is to devise a sin Most heinous indeed. 4: 71 O ye who believe! Take your precautions, And either go forth in 4: 71 parties Or go forth all together. 4: 85 Whoever recommends And helps a good cause Becomes a partner therein 4: 85 And whoever recommends And helps an evil cause, Shares in its 4: 85 burden: And Allah hath power Over all things. 4: 88 Why should ye be Divided into two parties About the Hypocrites? 4: 88 Allah hath upset them For their (evil) deeds. Would ye guide those 4: 88 Whom Allah hath thrown Out of the Way? For those Whom Allah hath 4: 88 thrown Out of the Way, never Shalt thou find the Way. 4:102 When thou (O Apostle) Art with them, and standest To lead them in 4:102 prayer, Let one party of them Stand up (in prayer) with thee 4:102 Taking their arms with them; When they finish Their prostrations, 4:102 let them Take their positions in the rear, And let the other party 4:102 come up- Which hath not yet prayed- And let them pray with thee , 4:102 Taking all precautions, And bearing arms: The Unbelievers wish, 4:102 If ye were negligent Of your arms and your baggage To assault 4:102 you in a single rush, But there is no blame on you If ye put 4:102 away your arms Because of the inconvenience Of rain or because ye 4:102 are ill; But take (every) precaution For yourselves. For the 4:102 Unbelievers Allah hath prepared A humiliating punishment. 4:113 But for the Grace of Allah To thee and His Mercy, A party of them 4:113 would Certainly have plotted To lead thee astray. But (in fact) 4:113 they will only Lead their own souls astray, And to thee they can do 4:113 No harm in the least. For Allah hath sent down To thee the Book 4:113 and Wisdom And taught thee what thou Knewest not (before); And 4:113 great is the Grace Of Allah unto thee. 4:128 If a wife fears Cruelty or desertion On her husband's part, There 4:128 is no blame on them If they arrange An amicable settlement Between 4:128 themselves; And such settlement is best; Even though men's souls 4:128 Are swayed by greed. But if ye do good And practise self-restraint, 4:128 Allah is well-acquainted With all that ye do. 4:130 But if they disagree (And must part), Allah Will provide abundance 4:130 For all from His All-reaching bounty: For Allah is He That careth 4:130 for all And is Wise. 5: 3 O ye who believe! Violate not the sanetity Of the Symbols of Allah, 5: 3 Nor of the Sacred Month Nor of the animals brought For sacrifice, 5: 3 nor the garlands That mark out such animals, Nor the people 5: 3 resorting To the Sacred House, Seeking of the bounty And good 5: 3 pleasure Of their Lord, But when ye are clear Of the Sacred 5: 3 Precincts And of pilgrim garb, Ye may hunt, And let not the hatred 5: 3 Of some people In (once) shutting you out Of the Sacred Mosque 5: 3 Lead you to transgression (And hostility on your part). Help ye one 5: 3 another In righteousness and piety, But help ye not one another In 5: 3 sin and rancour: Fear Allah: for Allah Is strict in punishment. 5: 4 Forbidden to you (for food) Are: dead meat, blood, The flesh of 5: 4 swine, and that On which hath been invoked The name of other than 5: 4 Allah, That which hath been Killed by strangling, Or by a violent 5: 4 blow, Or by a headlong fall, Or by being gored to death: That which 5: 4 hath been (partly) Eaten by a wild animal; Unless ye are able To 5: 4 'slaughter it (in due form); That which is sacrificed 693 On stone 5: 4 (altars); (Forbidden) also is the division (Of meat) by raffling 5: 4 With arrows: that is impiety. his day have those who Reject Faith 5: 4 given up All hope of your religion: Yet fear them not But fear Me. 5: 4 This day have I Perfected your religion For you, completed My 5: 4 favour upon you, And have chosen for you Islam as your religion. 5: 4 But if any is forced By hunger, with no inclination To 5: 4 transgression, Allah is Indeed Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 5: 9 O ye who believe! Stand out firmly For Allah, as witnesses To fair 5: 9 dealing, and let not The hatred of others To you make you swerve To 5: 9 wrong and depart from Justice. Be just: that is Next to Piety: and 5: 9 fear Allah, For Allah is well-acquainted With all that ye do. 5: 14 But because of their breach Of their Covenant, We Cursed them, and 5: 14 made Their hearts grow hard: They change the words From their 5: 14 (right) places And forget a good part Of the Message that was Sent 5: 14 them, nor wilt thou Cease to find them Barring a few- ever Bent on 5: 14 (new) deceits: But forgive them and overlook (Their misdeeds): for 5: 14 Allah Loveth those who are kind. 5: 15 From those, too, who call Themselves Christians We did take a 5: 15 Covenant, But they forgot a good part Of the Message that was Sent 5: 15 them: so We estranged Them, with enmity and hatred Between the one 5: 15 and the other, To the Day of Judgment. And soon will Allah show 5: 15 Them what it is They have done. 5: 69 If only they had stood fast By the Law the Gospel, And all the 5: 69 revelation that was sent To them from their Lord, They would have 5: 69 enjoyed Happiness from every side. There is from among them A party 5: 69 on the right course; But many of them Follow a course that is evil. 5: 69 SECTION 10. 6: 22 One day shall We gather Them all together: We Shall say to those 6: 22 Who ascribed partners (to Us): "Where are the partners Whom ye 6: 22 (invented And) talked about?" 6: 38 There is not an animal (That lives) on the earth, Nor a being that 6: 38 flies On its wings, but (forms Part of) communities like you. 6: 38 Nothing have We omitted From the Book, and they (all) Shall be 6: 38 gathered to their Lord In the end. 6: 65 Say: "He hath power To send calamities On you, from above And 6: 65 below, or to cover You with confusion In party strife Giving you a 6: 65 taste Of mutual vengeance- Each from the other." See how We explain 6: 65 The Signs by various (symbols), That they may understand. 6: 65 But thy people reject This, though it is The Truth, Say: "Not mine 6: 78 When he saw the sun Rising in splendour, He said: "This is my 6: 78 Lord; This is the greatest (of all). But when the sun set, He said: 6: 78 "O my people! I am (now) free From your (guilt) Of giving partners 6: 78 of Allah. 6: 79 " For me, I have set My face, firmly and truly, Towards Him Who 6: 79 created The heavens and the earth, And never shall I give Partners 6: 79 to Allah." 6: 81 "How should I fear (The beings) ye associate With Allah, when ye 6: 81 Fear not to give partners To Allah without any warrant Having been 6: 81 given to you? Which of (us) two parties Hath more right to 6: 81 security? (Tell me) if ye know. 6: 94 "And behold! ye come To Us bare and alone As We created you For 6: 94 the first time: Ye have left behind you All (the favours) which We 6: 94 bestowed on you: We see not with you Your intercessors Whom ye 6: 94 thought to be Partners in your affairs: So now all relations 6: 94 Between you have been Cut off, and your (pet) fancies Have left you 6: 94 in the lurch!" 6: 94 SECTION 12. 6: 98 It is He Who hath Produced you From a single person: Here is a 6: 98 place of so journ And a place of departure: We detail Our Signs For 6: 98 people who understand. 6:135 Say : "O my people! Do whatever ye can: I will do (my part): Soon 6:135 will ye know Who it is whose end Will be (best) in the Hereafter: 6:135 Certain it is that The wrong-doers will not prosper." 6:136 Out of what Allah Hath produced in abundance In tilth and in 6:136 cattle, They assigned Him a share: They say, according to their 6:136 fancies: "This is for Allah, and this"- For Our "partners"! But the 6:136 share of their "partners" Reacheth not Allah, whilst The share of 6:136 Allah reacheth Their "partners"! Evil (And unjust) is their 6:136 assignment! 6:137 Even so, in the eyes Of most of the Pagans, Their "partners" made 6:137 alluring The slaughter of their children, In order to lead them To 6:137 their own destruction, And cause confusion In their religion. If 6:137 Allah had willed, They would not have done so: But leave alone 6:137 Them and their inventions. 6:148 Those who give partners To Allah will say, "If Allah had wished, We 6:148 should not have Given partners to Him, Nor would our fathers; Nor 6:148 should we have had Any taboos." So did Their ancestors argue 6:148 Falsely, until they tasted Of Our wrath. Say: "Have ye any 6:148 (certain) Knowledge? If so, produce It before us. Ye follow Nothing 6:148 but conjecture: Ye do nothing but lie." 6:156 Lest ye should say: "The Book was sent down To two Peoples before 6:156 us, And for our part, we Remained unacquainted With all that they 6:156 learned By assiduous study"; 6:159 As for those who divide Their religion and break up Into sects, 6:159 thou hast No part in them in the least: Their affair is with Allah: 6:159 He will in the end Tell them the truth Of all that they did. 6:163 No partner hath He: This am I commanded, And I am the first Of 6:163 those who bow To His will. 7: 33 Say: The things that my Lord Hath indeed forbidden are: Shameful 7: 33 deeds, whether open Or secret; sins and trespasses Against truth 7: 33 or reason; assigning Of partners to Allah, for which He hath given 7: 33 no authority; And saying things about Allah Of which ye have no 7: 33 knowledge. 7: 75 The leaders of the arrogant Party among his people said To those 7: 75 who were reckoned Powerless- those among them Who believed: "Know 7: 75 ye Indeed that Salih is An apostle from his Lord?" They said: "We 7: 75 do indeed Believe in the revelation Which hath been sent Through 7: 75 him." 7: 76 The arrogant party said: "For our part, we reject What ye believe 7: 76 in." 7: 87 "And if there is a party Among you who believes In the Message with 7: 87 which I have been sent, and a party Which does not believe, Hold 7: 87 yourselves in patience Until Allah doth decide Between us: for He 7: 87 Is the best to decide." 7: 88 The leaders, the arrogant Party among his people, said: "O Shu'aib! 7: 88 we shall Certainly drive thee out Of our city- (thee) and those Who 7: 88 believe with thee: Or else ye (thou and they) Shall have to return 7: 88 To our ways and religion." He said: "What! even Though we do 7: 88 detest (them)? 7:105 "One for whom it is right To say nothing but truth About Allah. Now 7:105 have I Come unto you (people), from You Lord with a clear (Sign): 7:105 So let the Children of Israel Pepart along with me. 7:190 But when He giveth them A goodly child, they ascribe To others a 7:190 share in the gift They have received: But Allah is exalted, High 7:190 above the partners They ascribe to Him. 7:191 Do they indeed ascribe To Him as partners things That can create 7:191 nothing, But are themselves created? 7:195 Have they feet to walk with? Or hands to lay hold with? Or eyes to 7:195 see with? Or ears to hear with? Say: "Call your 'god-partners,' 7:195 Scheme (your worst) against me, And give me no respite! 8: 5 Just as thy Lord ordered thee Out of thy house in truth, Even 8: 5 though a party among The Believers disliked it, 8: 7 Behold! Allah promised you One of the two (enemy) parties, That it 8: 7 should be yours: Ye wished that the one Unarmed should be yours, 8: 7 But Allah willed To justify the Truth According to His words, And 8: 7 to cut off the roots Of the Unbelievers;- 8: 25 And fear tumult or oppression, Which affecteth not in particular 8: 25 (Only) those of you who do wrong And know that Allah Is strict in 8: 25 punishment. 8: 46 And obey Allah and His Apostle: And fall into no disputes, Lest ye 8: 46 lose heart And your power depart; And be patient and persevering: 8: 46 For Allah is with those Who patiently persevere: 9: 58 And among them are men Who slander thee in the matter Of 9: 58 (the distribution of) the alms: If they are given part thereof, 9: 58 They are pleased but if not Behold ! they are indignant! 9:117 Allah turned with favour To the Prophet, 9:117 the Muhajirs, And the Ansar,- who followed Him in a time of 9:117 distress, After that the hearts of a part Of them had nearly 9:117 swerved (From duty); but He turned To them (also): for He is Unto 9:117 them Most Kind, Most Merciful. 10: 18 They serve, besides Allah,Things that hurt them not Nor profit 10: 18 them, and they say:"These are our intercessors With Allah." Say:" 10: 18 Do ye Indeed inform Allah of something He knows not, in the 10: 18 heavens Or on earth?-Glory to Him! And far is He above the 10: 18 partners They ascribe (to Him)?" 10: 28 One Day shall We gather them All together. Then shall We say To 10: 28 those who joined gods (with Us): "To your place! ye and those Ye 10: 28 joined as 'partners'." We shall separate them. And their 'partners' 10: 28 shall say: "It was not us That ye worshipped!" 10: 32 Such is Allah , your real Cherisher and Sustainer: Apart from 10: 32 Truth, What (remains) but error ? How then are ye turned away ? 10: 32 Thus is the Word of the Lord proved true Against those who rebel: 10: 34 Say: "Of your 'partners,' Can any originate creation And repeats 10: 34 it? Say: "it is Allah who originates Creation and repeats it; Then 10: 34 how are ye deluded Away (from the Truth)?" 10: 35 Say: " Of your 'partners' Is there any that Can give any guidance 10: 35 Towards Truth?" Say : "It is Allah Who gives guidance Towards Truth 10: 35 Is then He Who gives guidance to Truth More worthy to be followed, 10: 35 Or he who finds no guidance (Himself) unless he is guided? What 10: 35 then is the matter With you? How judge ye?" 10: 46 Whether We show thee (Realised in thy lifetime ) Some part of what 10: 46 We Promise them, - or We Take thy soul (to Our Mercy) (Before 10: 46 that) , -in any case, To Us is their return: Ultimately Allah is 10: 46 witness, To all that they do. 10: 66 Behold !verily to Allah Belong all creatures, In the heavens and 10: 66 on earth, What do they follow Who worship as His "partners" Other 10: 66 than Allah? They follow Nothing but fancy, and They do nothing 10: 66 but lie. 10: 71 Belate to them the story Of Noah. Behold ! he said To his People: 10: 71 "O my People ! If it be hard on your (mind) That I should stay 10: 71 (with you) And commemorate the Signs Of Allah,- yet I put My trust 10: 71 in Allah. Get ye then an agreement About your plan and among Your 10: 71 Partners, so your plan Be not to you dark and dubious. Then pass 10: 71 your sentence on me And give me no respite. 10:103 In the end We deliver Our apostles and those who believe: Thus is 10:103 it fitting on Our part That We should deliver Those who believe! 11: 10 But if We give him a taste Of (Our) favours after Adversity hath 11: 10 touched him, He is sure to say, " All evil has departed from me :" 11: 10 Behold! he falls into exultation And pride. 11: 12 Perchance thou mayest (feel The inclination) to give up A part of 11: 12 what is revealed Unto thee, and thy heart Feeleth straitened 11: 12 lest they say, "Why is not a treasure sent down Unto him, or why 11: 12 does not An angel come down with him?" But thou art there only 11: 12 to warn! It is Allah that arrangeth All affairs! 11: 55 to Him, "Other gods as partners! So scheme(your worst)against me, 11: 55 All of you and give me No respite. 11: 81 (The Messengers) said:"O Lut! We are Messengers from thy Lord! 11: 81 By no means shall they Reach thee! Now travel With thy family 11: 81 while yet A part of the night remains, And let not any of you 11: 81 Look back: but thy wife (Will remain behind): To her will happen 11: 81 What happens to the people. Morning is their time appointed: Is 11: 81 not the morning nigh?" 11: 93 "And O my people! Do whatever ye can:I will do(my part): Soon will 11: 93 ye know Who it is on whom Descends the Penalty Of ignominy, and 11: 93 who Is a liar! And watch ye! For I too am watching With you!" 11:121 Say to those who do not Believe: "Do whatever ye can: We shall do 11:121 our part; 12: 14 They said:"If the wolf Were to devour him While we are (so large) 12: 14 a party, Then should we indeed (First) have perished ourselves!" 12: 16 Then they came To their father In the early part Of the night, 12: 16 Weeping. 12: 37 He said:"Before any food Comes (in due course) To feed either of 12: 37 you, I will surely reveal To you the truth And meaning of this Ere 12: 37 it come to pass: That is part of the (Duty) Which my Lord hath 12: 37 taught me. I have (I assure you) Abandoned the ways Of a people 12: 37 that believe not In Allah and that (even) Deny the Hereafter. 12: 38 "And I follow the ways Of my fathers,- Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; 12: 38 and never Could we attribute any partners Whatever to Allah : 12: 38 that (comes) Of the grace of Allah to us And to mankind: yet 12: 38 Most men are not grateful. 12:103 Yet no faith will The greater part of mankind Have, however 12:103 ardently Thou dost desire it. 12:106 And most of them Believe not in Allah Without associating 12:106 (othets As partners) with Him ! 13: 16 Say:" Who is the Lord and Sustainer Of the heavens and the earth?' 13: 16 Say:"(It is) Allah." Say:"Do ye then take (For worship) protectors 13: 16 other Than Him, such as have Nor power either for good Or for 13: 16 harm to themselves?" Say:"Are the blind equal With those who 13: 16 see? Or the depths of darkness Equal with Light?"Or do they 13: 16 assign to Allah Partners who have created (Anything) as He has 13: 16 created, So that the creation seemed To them similar? Say:"Allah 13: 16 is the Creator Of all things : He is The One, the Supreme and 13: 16 Irresistible." 13: 33 Is then He Who standeth Over every soul (and knoweth) All that it 13: 33 doth, (Like any others)?And yet They ascrine Parthers to Allah. 13: 33 Say:" But name them! Is it that ye will Infrom Him of something 13: 33 He knoweth not on earth, Or is it (just ) a show Of words?" 13: 33 Nay! to those Who believe not their pretence Seems pleasing, but 13: 33 they are Kept back (thereby ) from the Path:And those whom Allah 13: 33 leaves To stray, no one can guide. 13: 36 Those to whom We have Given the Book rejoice At what hath been 13: 36 revealed Unto thee: but there are Among the clans those who 13: 36 reject A part there of. Say:" I am commanded to worship Allah, and 13: 36 not to join partners With Him. Unto Him Do I call, and Unto Him 13: 36 is my return." 13: 38 We did send apostles Before thee and appointed For them wives and 13: 38 children, And it was never the part Of an apostle to bring a 13: 38 Sign Except as Allah permitted (Or commanded). For each period Is 13: 38 a Book (revealed). 13: 40 Whether We shall show thee (Within thy life-time) Part of what 13: 40 We promised them Or take to ourselves thy soul (Before it is all 13: 40 accomplished)- Thy duty is to make (The Message) reach them: It is 13: 40 Our part To call them to account. 15: 90 (Of just such wrath )As We sent down On those who divided 15: 90 (Scripture into arbitrary parts), 16: 1 (Inevitable ) cometh (to pass) The Command of Allah: Seek ye 16: 1 not then To hasten it glory to Him, And far is He above Having 16: 1 the partners They ascribe unto Him! 16: 3 He has created the heavens And the earth for just ends: Far is 16: 3 He above having The partners they ascribe to Him. 16: 27 Then on the Day of Judgment He will cover them With shame, and 16: 27 say:"Where are My partners' Concerning whom ye used To dispute 16: 27 (with the godly)? Those endued with knowledge Will say:"This Day, 16: 27 indeed, Are the Unbelievers Covered With Shame and Misery,- 16: 86 When those who gave partners To Allah will see their "partners," 16: 86 They will say:"Our Lord! These are our 'partners,' 16: 86 those Whom we used to invoke Besides Thee." But they 16: 86 will Throw back their word at them (And say):"Indeed ye are liars!" 16: 92 And be not like a woman Who breaks into untwisted strands The yarn 16: 92 which she has spun, After it has become strong. Nor take your oaths 16: 92 to practise Deception between yourselves, Lest one party should 16: 92 be More numerous than another: For Allah will test you by this;; 16: 92 And on the Day of Judgment He will certainly make clear To you 16: 92 (the truth of ) that Wherein ye disagree . 16:100 His authority is over those Only, who take him as patron And who 16:100 join partners with Allah, 16:100 SECTION 14. 17: 5 When the first of the warnings Came to pass, We sent Against 17: 5 you Our servants Given to terrible warfare: They entered the 17: 5 very inmost Parts of your homes; And it was a warning (Completely) 17: 5 fulfilled. 17: 70 We have honoured the sons Of Adam; provided them With transport 17: 70 on land and sea; Given them for sustenance things Good and pure; 17: 70 and conferred On them special favours, Above a great part Of 17: 70 Our Creation. 17: 70 SECTION 8. 17: 89 And We have explained To man, in this Qur-an, Every kind of 17: 89 similitude : Yet the greater part of men Refuse (to receive it) 17: 89 Except with ingratitude! 17:106 (It is) a Qur-an Which We have divided (Into parts from time to 17:106 time), In order that thou mightest Recite it to men At intervals: 17:106 We have Revealed it by stages. 17:111 Say:"Praise be to Allah Who begets no son, And has no partner 17:111 In (His) dominion: Nor (needs) He any To protect Him from 17:111 humiliation Yea, magnify Him For His greatness and glory!" 18: 12 Then we roused them, In order to test which Of the two parties 18: 12 was best At calculating the term Of years they had tarried! 18: 12 SECTION 2. 18: 19 Such (being their state), We raised them up (from sleep),That 18: 19 they might question Each other. Said one of them, "How long 18: 19 have ye stayed (here)?" They said,"We have stayed (Perhaps) a 18: 19 day, or part Of a day." (At length) They (all) said,"Allah 18: 19 (alone) Knows best how long Ye have stayed here... Now send 18: 19 ye then one of you With this money of yours To the town: let 18: 19 him Find out which is the best Food (to be had ) and bring some 18: 19 To you, that (ye may) Satisfy hunger therewith: And let him 18: 19 behave With care and courtesy, And let him not inform Anyone 18: 19 about you. 18: 38 "But (I think) for my part That He is Allah, My Lord, and none 18: 38 shall I Associate with my Lord. 18: 42 So his fruits (and enjoyment) Were encompassed (with ruin), And 18: 42 he remained twisting And turning his hands Over what he had spent 18: 42 On his property, which had(Now) tumbled to pieces To its very 18: 42 foundations, And he could only say, "Woe is me!Would I had 18: 42 Never ascribed partners To my Lord and Cherisher!" 18: 52 One Day He will say, "Call on those whom ye Thought to be My 18: 52 partners,"And they will call on them, But they will not listen 18: 52 To them; and We shall Make for them a place Of common perdition. 18: 78 He answered:"This is The parting between me And thee: now will I 18: 78 Tell thee the interpretation Of (those things) over which Thou 18: 78 wast unable To hold patience. 18:110 Say:"I am but a man Like yourselves,(but ) The inspiration has 18:110 come To me that your Allah is One Allah: whoever expects To meet 18:110 his Lord, let him Work righteousness, and In the worship of his 18:110 Lord Admit no one as partner. 20:115 We had already, beforehand Taken the covenant of Adam, But he 20:115 forgot: and We found On his part no firm resolve. 20:115 SECTION 7. 20:130 Therefore be patient with what They say, and celebrate 20:130 (constantly) The praises of thy Lord, Before the rising of the 20:130 sun, And before its setting; Yea, celebrate them For part of the 20:130 hours Of the night, and at the sides Of the day: that thou 20:130 Mayest have (spiritual) joy. 20:131 Nor strain thine eyes in longing For the things We have given For 20:131 enjoyment to parties Of them, the splendour Of the life of this 20:131 world, Through which We test them: But the provision of thy Lord 20:131 Is better and more enduring. 21: 87 And remember Zun-nun, When he departed in wrath: He imagined 21: 87 that We Had no power over him! But he cried through the depths 21: 87 Of darkness. "There is No god but Thou: Glory to Thee: I was 21: 87 Indeed wrong!" 22: 5 O mankind! if ye have A doubt about the Resurrection,(Consider)that 22: 5 We created you Out of dust, then out of Sperm, then out of a leech 22: 5 like Clot, then out of a morsel Of flesh, partly formed And partly 22: 5 unformed in order That We may manifest (Our power) to you; 22: 5 And We cause whom We will To rest in the wombs For an appointed 22: 5 term Then do We bring you out As babes then (foster you) That 22: 5 ye may reach your age Of full strength; and 22: 5 some Of you are called to die, And some are sent back To the 22: 5 feeblest old age, So that they know nothing After having known 22: 5 (much). And (further), thou seest The earth barren and lifeless, 22: 5 But when We pour down Rain on it it, is stirred (To life), it 22: 5 swells, And it puts forth every kind Of beautiful growth 22: 5 (in pairs). 22: 31 Being true in faith to God, And never assigning partners To Him: 22: 31 if anyone assigns Partners to God, he is As if he had fallen 22: 31 From heaven and been snatched up By birds, or the wind Had swooped 22: 31 (like a bird) On its prey) and thrown him Into a far-distant 22: 31 place. 23: 53 But people have cut off Their affair (of unity), Between them, 23: 53 into sects: Each party rejoices in that Which is with itself. 23: 59 Those who join not (in worship) Partners with their Lord; 23: 92 He knows what is hidden And what is open: too high Is He for 23: 92 the partners They attribute to Him! 23: 92 SECTION 6. 23:100 "In order that I may Work righteousness in the things, I neglected. 23:100 "-"By no means ! It is but a word he says,"- Before them is a 23:100 Partition Till the Day they are Raised up. 23:109 "A party of My servants There was, who used to pray, Our Lord! 23:109 we believe; Then do Thou forgive us, And have mercy upon us : 23:109 For Thou art the Best Of those who show mercy! 23:113 They will say: "We stayed A day or part of a day: But ask those 23:113 who Keep account." 24: 2 The woman and the man Guilty of adultery or fornication, - Flog 24: 2 each of them With a hundred stripes; Let not compassion move 24: 2 you In their case, in a matter Prescribed by Allah, if ye believe 24: 2 In Allah and the Last Day: And let a party Of the Believers 24: 2 Witness their punishment. 24: 29 It is no fault on your part To enter houses not used For living 24: 29 in, which serve Some (other) use for you: And Allah has knowledge 24: 29 Of what ye reveal And what ye conceal. 24: 62 Only those are Believers Who believe in Allah and His Apostle: 24: 62 when they are With him on a matter Requiring collective action, 24: 62 They do not depart until They have asked for his leave; Those who 24: 62 ask for thy leave, Are those who believe in Allah And His Apostle; 24: 62 so when They ask for thy leave, For some business of theirs, Give 24: 62 leave to those of them Whom thou wilt, and ask Allah for their 24: 62 forgiveness: For Allah is Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful. 25: 2 He to Whom belongs The dominion of the heavens And the earth, no 25: 2 son Has He begotten, nor has He A partner in His dominion: It 25: 2 is He Who created All things, and ordered them In due proportions. 25: 53 It is He Who has Let free the two bodies Of flowing water: 25: 53 One palatable and sweet, And the other salt And bitter; yet has 25: 53 He Made a barrier between them, A partition that is forbidden To 25: 53 be passed. 26: 64 Then We told Moses By inspiration: 'Strike The sea with thy rod." 26: 64 So it divided, and each Separate part become Like the huge, 26: 64 firm mass Of a mountain . 26: 65 And We made the other Party approach thither. 28: 62 That Day Allah will Call to them, and say: "Where are My'partners'- 28: 62 Whom ye imagined (to be such)?" 28: 64 It will be said (to them): "Call upon your partners' (For help)": 28: 64 they will call Upon them, but they will not Listen to them ;and 28: 64 they Will see the Penalty (before them); (How they will wish) 28: 64 If only they had been Open to guidance!' 28: 68 Thy Lord does create and choose As He pleases: no choice Have 28: 68 they (in the matter): Glory to Allah! and far Is He above the 28: 68 partners They ascribe (to Him)! 28: 74 The Day that He will Call on them, He will say:" Where are My 28: 74 partners' Whom ye imagined (to be such)?" 28: 81 Then We caused the earth To swallow up him and His house; and 28: 81 he had not (The least little) party To help him against Allah 28: 81 Nor could he defend himself. 30: 6 (It is) the promise of Allah. Never does Allah depart From His 30: 6 promise: But most men understand not. 30: 13 No intercessor will they have Among their "Partners," And they 30: 13 will (themselves) Reject their " Partners". 30: 28 He does propound To you a similitude From your own (experience); 30: 28 Do ye have partners Among those whom your right hands Possess, 30: 28 to share as equals In the wealth We have Bestowed on you? Do ye 30: 28 Fear them as ye fear Each other? Thus do We Explain the Signs 30: 28 in detail To a people that understand. 30: 32 Those who split up Their Religion and become (Mere) Sects,- each 30: 32 party Rejoicing in that which Is with itself? 30: 33 When trouble touches men They cry to their Lord, Turning back 30: 33 to Him In repentance: but when He gives them a taste Of Mercy as 30: 33 from Himself, Behold, some of them Pay part-worship to Other gods 30: 33 besides their Lord,- 30: 35 Or have We sent down Authourity to them which Points out to them 30: 35 The things to which They pay part-worship? 30: 40 It is Allah Who has Created you: further, He has Provided for your 30: 40 sustenance; Then He will cause you To die; and again He will 30: 40 Give you life. Are there Any of your (false) "Partners" Who can 30: 40 do any single One of these things? Glory to Him ! and High Is He 30: 40 above the partners They attribute (to Him)! 30: 40 SECTION 5. 33: 13 Behold! A party among them Said:"Ye men of Yathrib! Ye cannot 33: 13 stand (the attack)! Therefore go back! "And a band of them Ask 33: 13 for leave of the Prophet Saying, "Truly our houses Are bare and 33: 13 exposed, "though They were not exposed: They intended nothing but 33: 13 To run away. 34: 20 And on them did Satan Prove true his idea And they followed him 34: 20 all But a Party that believed. 34: 27 Say: "Show me those whom Ye have joined with Him As partners: by no 34: 27 means (Can ye). Nay, He is Allah, The Exalted in Power, The Wise." 34: 54 And between them And their desires, Is placed a barrier, As was 34: 54 done in the past With their partisans: For they were indeed In 34: 54 suspicious (disquieting) doubt. 35: 2 What Allah out of His Mercy Doth bestow on mankind There is none 35: 2 can withhold: What He doth withhold, There is none can grant, 35: 2 Apart from Him And He is the Exalted In Power , Full of Wisdom. 35: 11 And Allah did create You from dust; Then irom a sperm-drop; Then He 35: 11 made you In pairs. And no female Conceives, or lays down 35: 11 (Her load), but with His Knowledge. Nor is a man Long-lived 35: 11 granted length Of days, nor is a part Cut off from his life, But 35: 11 is in a Decree (Ordained). All this Is easy to Allah . 35: 14 If ye invoke them, They will not listen To your call, and if They 35: 14 were to listen, They cannot answer Your (prayer). On the Day Of 35: 14 Judgement they will reject Your "Partnership". And none (O man!) 35: 14 can tell thee (The Truth) like the One Who is acquainted with all 35: 14 things. 35: 14 SECTION 3. 35: 40 Say: "Have ye seen (These) 'Partners' of yours Whom ye call upon 35: 40 Besides Allah? Show me What it is they have created In the (wide) 35: 40 earth. Or have they a share In the heavens?" Or Have We given 35: 40 them a Book From which they (can derive) Clear (evidence)?- 35: 40 Nay, The wrong-doers promise Each other nothing but delusions. 36: 7 The Word is proved true Against the greater part of them ; For 36: 7 they do not believe. 36: 20 Then there came running. From the farthest part Of the City, a 36: 20 man, Saying, "O my People ! Obey the apostles: 36: 39 And the Moon,- We have measured for her Mansions (to traverse) 36: 39 Till she returns Like the old (and withered) Lower part of 36: 39 date-stalk. 36: 59 And O ye in sin! Get ye apart this Day! 37: 90 So they turned away From him, and departed. 38: 24 (David) said:"He has Undoubtedly wronged thee In demanding thy 38: 24 (single) ewe To be added to his (flock Of) ewes: truly many Are 38: 24 the Partners (in business ) Who wrong each other : Not so do those 38: 24 who believe And work deeds of righteousness, And how few are they?" 38: 24 And David gathered that We Had tried him: He asked Forgiveness 38: 24 of his Lord, Fell down, bowing (In prostration), and turned 38: 24 (To Allah in repentance). 39: 29 Allah puts forth a Parable-A man belonging to many Partners at 39: 29 variance with each other,And a man belonging entirely To one 39: 29 master: are those two Equal in comparison? Praise be to Allah! 39: 29 But most of them Have no knowledge. 39: 39 Say:'O my people! Do whatever ye can: I will do (my part): 39: 39 But soon will ye know- 39: 67 No just estimate Have they made of Allah, Such as is due to Him; 39: 67 On the Day of Judgment The whole of the earth Will be but His 39: 67 handful, And the heavens will be Rolled up in His right hand: Glory 39: 67 to Him! High is He above The Partners they attribute To Him! 40: 12 (The answer will be:) "This is because,when Allah was invoked as 40: 12 The Only (object of worship), Ye did reject Faith,But when 40: 12 partners were Joined to Him, ye believed! The Command is with 40: 12 Allah, Most High Most Great!" 40: 42 "Ye do call upon me To blaspheme against Allah, And to join with 40: 42 Him Partners of whom I have No knowledge; and I Call you to the 40: 42 Exalted In Power, Who forgives Again and again !" 40: 73 Then shall it be said To them:"Where are The (deities) to which Ye 40: 73 gave part-worship- 40: 77 So persevere in patience! For the Promise of Allah Is true: and 40: 77 whether We show thee (in this life) Some part of what We Promise 40: 77 them,- or We Take thy soul (to Our Mercy ) (Before that), - 40: 77 (In any case) It is to Us that They shall (all) return. 40: 84 But when they saw Our punishment, they said: "We believe in 40: 84 Allah,-The One Allah-and we Reject the partners we used To join 40: 84 with Him." 41: 47 To Him is referred The Knowledge of the Hour (Of Judgment: He 41: 47 knows all): No date-fruit comes out Of its sheath, nor does A 41: 47 female conceive (within Her womb) nor bring forth (Young), 41: 47 but by His Knowledge. The Day that (Allah) will Propound To 41: 47 them the (question), "Where are the Partners (Ye attributed) 41: 47 to Me?"They will say,"We do Assure Thee not one Of us can bear 41: 47 witness!" 42: 21 What! Have they partners (In godhead), who have Established for 42: 21 them some Religion without the permission Of Allah? Had it not 42: 21 Been for the Decree Of judgment, the matter Would have been 42: 21 decided Between them (at once): But verily the wrong-doers 42: 21 Will have a grievous Penalty. 43: 39 When ye have done wrong, It will avail you nothing, That day, that 43: 39 ye shall be Partners in punishment! 47: 26 This, because they said To those who hate what Allah has revealed 47: 26 "We Will obey you in part Of (this) matter"; but Allah Knows their 47: 26 (inner) secrets. 48: 25 They are the ones who Denied revelation and hindered you From 48: 25 the Sacred Mosque And the sacrificial animals Detained from 48: 25 reaching their Place of sacrifice. Had there Not been believing men 48: 25 And believing women whom Ye did not know that Ye were trampling 48: 25 down And on whose account A crime would have accrued To you 48: 25 without (your) knowledge. (Allah would have allowed you To force 48: 25 your way, but He held back your hands) That He may admit To His 48: 25 Mercy whom He will. If they had been Apart, We should Certainly 48: 25 have punished The Unbelievers among them With a grievous punishment 49: 4 Those who shout out To thee from without The Inner Apartments- 49: 4 Most of them lack understanding . 49: 9 If two parties among The Believers fall into A quarrel, make ye 49: 9 peace Between them: but if One of them transgresses Beyond 49: 9 bounds against the other, Then fight ye (all) against The one that 49: 9 transgresses Until it complies with The command of Allah; But if it 49: 9 complies, then Make peace between them With justice, and be fair: 49: 9 For Allah loves those who are fair (and just). 50: 40 And during part Of the night, (also,) Celebrate His praises And 50: 40 (so likewise) After the postures Of adoration. 52: 49 And for part of the night Also praise thou Him,- And at the retreat 52: 49 Of the stars! 53: 7 While he was in The highest part Of the horizon: 58: 19 The Evil One has Got the better of them: So he has made them 58: 19 Lose the remembrance Of Allah. They are the Party Of the Evil 58: 19 One. Truly, It is the Party Of the Evil One That will perish! 58: 22 Thou wilt not find Any people who believe In Allah and the Last 58: 22 Day, Loving those who resist Allah and His Apostle Even though they 58: 22 were Their fathers or their sons, Or thier brothers, or Their 58: 22 kindred. For such He has written Faith In their hearts and 58: 22 strengthened Them With a spirit From Himself. And He Will admit 58: 22 them to Gardens Beneath which Rivers flow, To dwell therein (for 58: 22 ever). Allah will be well pleased With them, and they With Him They 58: 22 are the Party Of Allah. Truly it is The Party of Allah that Will 58: 22 achieve Felicity. 59: 8 (Some part is due) To the indigent Muhajirs, Those who were 59: 8 expelled From their homes and their property, While seeking Grace 59: 8 from Allah And (His) Good Pleasure, And aiding Allah and His 59: 8 Apostle : Such are indeed The sincere ones:- 59: 23 Allah is He, than whom There is no other god;- The Sovereign, the 59: 23 Holy One, The Source of Peace (and Perfection) The Guardian of 59: 23 Faith, The Preserver of Safety, The Exalted in Might, The 59: 23 Irresistible, the Supreme: Glory to Allah! (High is He) Above the 59: 23 partners They attribute to Him. 65: 2 Thus when they fulfil Their term appointed, Either take them back 65: 2 On equitable terms Or part with them On equitable terms; And take 65: 2 for witness Two persons from among you, Endued with justice, And 65: 2 establish the evidence (As) before Allah. Such Is the admonition 65: 2 given To him who believes In Allah and the Last Day: And for those 65: 2 who fear Allah, He (ever) prepares A way out . 66: 3 When the Prophet disclosed A matter in confidence To one of his 66: 3 consorts, And she then divulged it (To another), and Allah made it 66: 3 Known to him, he confirmed Part thereof and repudiated A part. Then 66: 3 when he Told her thereof, she said, "Who told thee this?" He said," 66: 3 He told me Who knows and is well-acquainted (With all things)." 68: 23 So they departed, conversing In secret low tones, (saying)- 68: 41 Or have they some "Partners" (in Godhead)? Then let them produce 68: 41 Their "partners," If they are truthful ! 73: 20 The Lord doth know That thou standest forth To (prayer) nigh 73: 20 two-thirds Of the night, or half The night or a third Of the 73: 20 night, and so doth A party of those with thee But Allah doth 73: 20 appoint Night And Day in due measure. He knoweth that ye are 73: 20 Unable to keep count thereof. So He hath turned to you (In mercy): 73: 20 read ye Therefore, of the Qur-an As much as may be Easy for you. 73: 20 He knoweth That there may be (some) Among you in ill-health; 73: 20 Others travelling through the land Seeking of Allah's bounty; 73: 20 Yet others fighting In Allah's Cause. Read ye, Therefore as 73: 20 much of the Qur-an As may be easy (for you): And establish 73: 20 regular Prayer And give regular Charity ; And loan to Allah A 73: 20 Beautiful Loan. And whatever good Ye send forth For your souls, Ye 73: 20 shall find it In Allah's Presence, Yea better and Greater, in 73: 20 Reward. And seek ye the Grace of Allah: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving. 73: 20 Most Merciful. 75: 28 And he will conclude That it was (the Time) Of Parting; 76: 26 And part of the night Prostrate thyself to Him And glorify Him 76: 26 A long night through. 77: 29 (It will be said:) "Depart ye to that Which ye used to reject As 77: 29 false! 77: 30 "Depart ye to a Shadow (Of smoke ascending) In three columns, 98: 1 Those who reject (Truth), Among the People of the Book And among 98: 1 the Polytheists, Were not going to depart (From their ways) until 98: 1 There should come to them Clear Evidence,-

2:114 And who is more unjust Than he who forbids That in places for the 2:114 worship Of Allah, Allah's name should be Celebrated?- whose zeal is 2:114 (in fact) to ruin them? It was not fitting that such should 2:114 themselves enter them Except in fear. For them There is nothing but 2:114 disgrace In this world, and in the world To come, an exceeding 2:114 torment. 2:173 He hath only forbidden you Dead meat, and blood, And the flesh of 2:173 swine, And that on which Any other name hath been invoked Besides 2:173 that of Allah, But if one is forced by necessity, Without wilful 2:173 disobedience, Nor transgressing due limits,_Then is he guiltless. 2:173 For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 2:225 Allah will not Call you to account For thoughtlessness In your 2:225 oaths, But for the intention In your hearts; And He is 2:225 Oft-Forgiving, Most Forbearing. 2:235 There is no blame On you if ye make An offer of betrothal Or hold 2:235 it in your hearts. Allah knows that ye Cherish them in your hearts: 2:235 But do not make a secret contract With them except in terms 2:235 Honourable, nor resolve on the tie Of marriage till the term 2:235 Prescribed is fulfilled And know that Allah Knoweth what is in your 2:235 hearts And take heed to him; And know that Allah is Oft-Forgiving, 2:235 Most Forbearing. 2:235 SECTION 31. 2:263 Kind words And the covering of faults Are better than charity 2:263 Followed by injury. Allah is Free of all wants. And He is most 2:263 Forbearing. 2:275 Those who devour usury Will not stand except As stands one whom 2:275 The Evil One by his touch Hath driven to madness. That is because 2:275 they say: "Trade is like usury," But Allah hath permitted trade 2:275 And forbidden usury. Those who after receiving Direction from their 2:275 Lord, Desist, shall be pardoned For the past; their case Is for 2:275 Allah (to judge); But those who repeat (The offence)are companions 2:275 Of the Fire: they will Abide therein (for ever). 3: 50 "'(I have come to you), To attest the Law Which was before me, And 3: 50 to make lawful To you part of what was (Before) forbidden to you; 3: 50 I have come to you With a Sign from your Lord, So fear Allah, And 3: 50 obey me. 3:104 Let there arise out of you A band of people Inviting to all that is 3:104 good, Enjoining what is right, And forbidding what is wrong:- They 3:104 are the ones To attain felicity. 3:110 Ye are the best Of Peoples, evolved For mankind, Enjoining what 3:110 is right, Forbidding what is wrong, And believing in Allah. If only 3:110 the People of the Book Had faith, it were best For them; among them 3:110 Are some who have faith, But most of them Are perverted 3:110 transgressors. 3:114 They believe in Allah And the Last Day; They enjoin what is right, 3:114 And forbid what is wrong: And they (hasten in emulation) In (all) 3:114 good works: They are in the ranks Of the righteous. 3:155 Those of you Who turned back On the day the two hosts Met,-it was 3:155 Satan Who caused them to fail, Because of some (evil) They had 3:155 done. But Allah Has blotted out (their fault): For Allah is Oft- 3:155 Forgiving, Most Forbearing. 3:155 SECTION 17. 4: 12 In what your wives leave, Your share is a half, If they leave no 4: 12 child; But If they leave a child, Ye get a fourth; after payment 4: 12 Of legacies and debts. In what ye leave, 4: 12 Their share is a fourth, If ye leave no child but if ye leave a 4: 12 child, They get an, eighth; after payment Of legacies and debts. If 4: 12 the man or woman Whose inheritance is in question Has left neither 4: 12 ascendants nor descendants, But has left a brother Or a sister,each 4: 12 one of the two Gets a sixth; but if more Than two, they share in a 4: 12 third; After payment of legacies And debts; so that no loss Is 4: 12 caused (to anyone). Thus is it ordained by Allah, And Allah is 4: 12 All-Knowing, Most Forbearing. 4: 31 If ye (but) eschew The most heinous Of the things Which ye are 4: 31 forbidden to do, We shall expel Out of you All the evil in you, And 4: 31 admit you to a Gate Of great honour. 4: 89 They but wish that ye Should reject Faith, As they do, and thus 4: 89 be On the same footing(as they): But take not friends From their 4: 89 ranks Until they flee In the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). 4: 89 But if they turn renegades, Seize them and slay them Wherever ye 4: 89 find them? And (in any case) take No friends or helpers From their 4: 89 ranks;- 4:161 That they took usury, Though they were forbidden; And that they 4:161 devoured Men's substance wrongfully;- We have prepared for those 4:161 Among them who reject Faith A grievous punishment. 5: 2 Lawful unto you (for food) Are all four-footed animals, With the 5: 2 exceptions named: But animals of the chase Are forbidden while ye 5: 2 Are in the Sacred precincts Or in pilgrim garb: For Allah doth 5: 2 command According to His Will and Plan. 5: 45 (They are fond of) listening To falsehood, of devouring Anything 5: 45 forbidden. If they do come to thee, Either judge between them, Or 5: 45 decline to interfere. If thou decline, they cannot Hurt thee in 5: 45 the least. If thou judge, judge In equity between them: For Allah 5: 45 loveth those Who judge in equity. 5: 65 Many of them dost thou See, racing each other In sin and rancour, 5: 65 And their eating of things Forbidden. Evil indeed Are the things 5: 65 that they do. 5: 66 Why donot the Rabbis And the doctors of laws forbid Them from their 5: 66 (habit Of) uttering sinful words And eating things forbidden? Evil 5: 66 indeed are their works. 5: 75 They do blaspheme who say: "Allah is Christ the son Of Mary." But 5: 75 said Christ: "O Children of Israel! Worship Allah, my Lord And your 5: 75 Lord." Whoever Joins other gods with Allah,- Allah will forbid him 5: 75 The Garden, and the Fire Will be his abode. There will For the 5: 75 wrong-doers Be no one to help. 5: 82 Nor did they (usually) Forbid one another The iniquities which 5: 82 they Committed: evil indeed Were the deeds which they did. 5: 99 Lawful to you is the pursuit Of water-game and its use For food,- 5: 99 for the benefit Of yourselves and those who Travel; but forbidden 5: 99 Is the pursuit of land-game;- As long as ye are In the Sacred 5: 99 Precincts Or in pilgrim garb. And fear Allah, to Whom Ye shall be 5: 99 gathered back. 5:104 O ye who believe! Ask not questions About things which, If made 5:104 plain to you, May cause you trouble. But if ye ask about things 5:104 When the Qur-an is being Revealed, they will be Made plain to you: 5:104 Allah will forgive those: For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most 5:104 Forbearing. 6: 28 Yea, in their own (eyes) Will become manifest What before they 6: 28 concealed, But if they were returned, They would certainly relapse 6: 28 To the things they were forbidden, For they are indeed liars. 6: 56 Say: "I am forbidden To worship those- other Than Allah- whom ye 6: 56 Call upon." Say: "I will Not follow your vain desires: If I did, I 6: 56 would stray From the path, and be not Of the company of those Who 6: 56 receive guidance." 6:119 Why should ye not Eat of (meats) on which Allah's name hath been 6:119 pronounced, when He hath Explained to you in detail What is 6:119 forbidden to you- Except under compulsion Of necessity? But many do 6:119 mislead (men) By their appetites unchecked By knowledge. Thy Lord 6:119 Knoweth best those who transgress. 6:138 And they say that Such and such cattle and crops Are taboo, and 6:138 none should Eat of them except those Whom- so they say- We Wish; 6:138 further, there are Cattle forbidden to yoke Or burden, and cattle 6:138 On which (at slaughter), The name of Allah is not Pronounced; 6:138 -inventions Against Allah's name: soon Will He requite them For 6:138 their inventions. 6:139 They say: "What is In the wombs of Such and such cattle Is 6:139 specially reserved (For food) for our men, And forbidden to our 6:139 women; But if it is still-born, Then all have shares therein." For 6:139 their (false) attribution (Of superstitions to Allah), He will soon 6:139 punish them: For He is full Of wisdom and knowledge. 6:140 Lost are those who slay Their children, from folly, Without 6:140 knowledge, and forbid Food which Allah hath provided For them, 6:140 inventing (lies) Against Allah. They have Indeed gone astray And 6:140 heeded no guidance. 6:140 SECTION 17. 6:143 (Take) eight (head of cattle) In (four) pairs: Of sheep a pair, And 6:143 of goats a pair; Say, hath He forbidden The two males, Or the two 6:143 females, Or (the young) which the wombs Of the two females 6:143 enclose?- Tell me with knowledge If ye are truthful: 6:144 Of camels a pair, And of oxen a pair; Say, hath He forbidden The 6:144 two males, Or the two females, Or (the young) which the wombs Of 6:144 the two females enclose?- Were ye present when Allah Ordered you 6:144 such a thing? But who doth more wrong Than one who invents A lie 6:144 against Allah, To lead astray men Without knowledge? For Allah 6:144 guideth not People who do wrong. 6:144 SECTION 18. 6:145 Say: "I find not In the Message received By me By inspiration Any 6:145 (meat) forbidden To be eaten by one Who wishes to eat it, Unless it 6:145 be dead meat, Or blood poured forth, Or the flesh of swine,- For it 6:145 is an abomination- Or, what is impious, (meat) On which a name has 6:145 been Invocked, other than Allah's." But (even so), if a person Is 6:145 forced by necessity, Without wilful disobedience, Nor transgressing 6:145 due limits,- Thy Lord is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 6:146 For those who followed The Jewish Law, We forbade Every (animal) 6:146 with Undivided hoof, And We forbade them The fat of the ox And the 6:146 sheep, except What adheres to their backs Or their entrails, Or is 6:146 mixed up With a bone: This in recompense For their wilful 6:146 disobedience: For We are True (In Our ordinances). 6:150 Say: "Bring forward your witnesses To prove that Allah did Forbid 6:150 so and so." If they Bring such witnesses, Be not thou amongst them: 6:150 Nor follow thou the vain Desires of such as treat Our Signs as 6:150 falsehoods, And such as believe not In the Hereafter: for they Hold 6:150 others as equal With their Guardian-Lord. 6:150 SECTION 19. 7: 20 Then began Satan to whisper Suggestions to them , bringing Openly 7: 20 before their minds All their shame That was hidden from them 7: 20 (Before): he said"Your Lord Only forbade you this tree, Lest ye 7: 20 should become angels Or such beings as live for ever." 7: 22 So by deceit he brought about Their fall: when they Tasted of the 7: 22 tree, Their shame became manifest To them, and they began To sew 7: 22 together the leaves Of the Garden over their bodies. And their 7: 22 Lord called Unto them:"Did I not Forbid you that tree, And tell you 7: 22 that Satan Was an avowed Enemy unto you?" 7: 32 Say: Who hath forbidden The beautiful (gifts) of Allah, Which He 7: 32 hath produced For His servants, And the things, clean and pure, 7: 32 (Which He hath provided) For sustenance? Say: They are, in the life 7: 32 Of this world, for those Who believe, (and) purely For them on the 7: 32 Day Of Judgment. Thus do We Explain the Signs in detail For those 7: 32 who understand. 7: 50 The Companions of the Fire Will call to the Companions Of the 7: 50 Garden; "Pour down To us water or anything That Allah doth provide 7: 50 For your sustenance." They will say: "Both These things hath Allah 7: 50 forbidden To those who rejected Him;- 7:157 "Those who follow the Apostle, The unlettered Prophet, Whom they 7:157 find mentioned In their own (Scriptures);- In the Law and the 7:157 Gospel; For he commands them What is just and forbids them What 7:157 is evil: he allows Them as lawful what is good (And pure) and 7:157 prohibits them From what is bad (and impure); He releases them From 7:157 their heavy burdens And from the yokes That are upon them. So it 7:157 is those who believe In him, honour him, Help him, and follow the 7:157 Light Which is sent down with him,- It is they who will prosper. 7:157 SECTION 20. 7:165 When they disregarded the warnings That had been given them, We 7:165 rescued those who forbade Evil; but We visited The wrong-doors with 7:165 a Grievous punishment, because They were given to transgression. 9: 5 But when the forbidden months Are past, then fight and slay The 9: 5 Pagans wherever ye findthem And seize them, beleaguer them And lie 9: 5 in wait for them In every stratagem(of war); But if they repent, 9: 5 And establish regular prayers And practise regular charity, then 9: 5 open the way for them: For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 9: 29 Fight those who believe not In Allah nor the Last Day Nor hold that 9: 29 for bidden Which hath been forbidden By Allah and His Apostle 9: 29 Nor acknowledge the Religion Of Truth (even if they are) Of the 9: 29 People of the Book Until they pay the Jizya With willing submission 9: 29 And feel themselves subdued. 9: 29 SECTION 5. 9: 37 Verily the transposing (Of a prohibited month) Is an addition to 9: 37 Unbelief: The Unbelievers are led To wrong thereby : for they 9: 37 make It lawful one year And forbidden another year In order to 9: 37 adjust the number Of months forbidden by Allah And Make such 9: 37 forbidden ones Lawful. The evil of their course Seems pleasing to 9: 37 them But Allah guideth not Those who reject Faith 9: 37 SECTION 6. 9: 67 The Hypocrites men and women (Have an understanding) with each 9: 67 other : They enjoin evil and forbid What is just and are colse 9: 67 With their hands. They have Forgotten Allah; so He Hath forgotten 9: 67 them Verily The Hypocrites are rebellious And perverse. 9: 71 The Believers men And women are protectors One of another: 9: 71 they enjoin What is just and forbid What is evil: they observe 9: 71 Regular prayers practise Regular charity and obey Allah and His 9: 71 apostle. On them will Allah pour His mercy: for Allah Is Exalted 9: 71 in Power Wise. 9:112 Those that turn (to Allah) In repentance:that serve Him,and praise 9:112 Him that wander In devotion to the Cause of Allah ; That bow down 9:112 and prostrate themselves In prayer; that enjoin good And forbid 9:112 evil and observe The limits set by Allah;- (These do rejoice). so 9:112 proclaim The glad tidings to the Believers. 9:114 And Abraham prayed For his father's forgiveness 9:114 Only because of a promise He had made to him. But when it became 9:114 clear To him that he was An enemy to Allah, he Dissociated himself 9:114 from him: For Abraham was most Tender-hearted, forbearing. 10: 59 Say: "See ye what things Allah hath sent down to you For 10: 59 sustenance? Yet ye Hold forbidden some things Thereof and 10: 59 (something) lawful." Say: "Hath Allah indeed Permitted you, or do 10: 59 ye invent (Things) to attribute to Allah ? " 11: 62 They said:"O Salih! Thou hast been of us!- A centre of our hopes 11: 62 Hitherto! Dost thou (now) Forbid us the worship Of what our fathers 11: 62 worshipped? But we are really In suspicious (disquieting) Doubt as 11: 62 to that to which Thou invitest us." 11: 75 For Abraham was, Without doubt, forbearing (Of faults), 11: 75 compassionate, And given to look to Allah. 11: 87 They said:" Oh Shu'aib! Does thy (religion of) prayer Command thee 11: 87 that we Leave off the worship which Our fathers practised, or That 11: 87 we leave off doing What we like with our property? Truly, though 11: 87 art the one That forbeareth with faults And is right- minded!" 11: 88 He said:" O my people! See ye whether I have A Clear (Sign) from 11: 88 my Lord, And He hath given me Sustenance (pure and) good As from 11: 88 Himself? I wish not, In opposition to you to do That which I 11: 88 forbid you to do. I only desire (your) betterment To the best of 11: 88 my power; And my success (in my task) Can only come from Allah: 11: 88 In Him I trust, And unto Him I took. 12: 23 But she, in whose house He was, sought to seduce him From his 12: 23 (true) self she fastened The doors, and said:" Now come, thou 12: 23 (dear one)! " He said:" Allah forbid! Truly (thy husband ) is My 12: 23 lord! he made My sojourn agreeable! Truly to no good Come those 12: 23 who do wrong!" 12: 79 He said:"Allah forbid That we take other than him With whom we 12: 79 found Our property: indeed (If we did so), we should Be acting 12: 79 wrongfully." 12: 79 SECTION 10. 15: 70 They said:"Did we not Forbid thee (to speak) For all and sundry?" 16: 90 Allah commands justice, the doing Of good, and liberality to kith 16: 90 and kin, and He forbids All shameful deeds, and injustice And 16: 90 rebellion:He instructs you, That ye may receive admonition . 16:115 He has only forbiden you Dead meat, and blood and the flesh of 16:115 swine And any (food) over which The name of other than Allah 16:115 Has been invoked. But if one is forced by necessity, Without wilful 16:115 disobedience, Nor transgressing due limits,- Then Allah is 16:115 Oft-Forgiving , Most Merciful. 16:116 But say not- for any false thing That your tongues may put forth,- 16:116 "This is lawful,and this Is forbidden,"so as to ascribe False 16:116 things to Allah. For those Who ascribe false things To Allah 16:116 will never prosper. 17: 44 The seven heavens and the earth, And all beings therein, Declare 17: 44 His glory There is not a thing But celebrates His praise ; And 17: 44 yet ye understand not How they declare His glory! Verily He 17: 44 is Oft-Forbearing, Most Forgiving! 19: 46 (The father ) replied: "Dost thou Hate my gods, O Abraham? 19: 46 It thou forbear not, I will Indeed stone thee: Now get away from 19: 46 me For a good long while!" 21:104 The Day that We roll up The heavens like a scroll Rolled up 21:104 forbooks (completed),- Even as We produced The first Creation so 21:104 Shall We produce A new one: a promise We have undertaken: Truly 21:104 shall We fulfil it. 22: 41 (They are) those who If We establish them In the land, establish 22: 41 Regular prayer and give Regular charity, enjoin The right and 22: 41 forbid wrong: With Allah rests the end (And decision) of (all) 22: 41 affairs. 22: 59 Verily He will admit them To a place with which They shall be well 22: 59 pleased: For Allah is All-Knowing, Most Forbearing. 24: 3 Let no man guilty of Adultery or fornication marry Any but a 24: 3 woman Similarly guilty, or an Unbeliever, Nor let any but such a 24: 3 man Or an unbeliever Marry such a woman: To the Believers 24: 3 such a thing Is forbidden. 25: 22 The Day they see the angels ,- No joy will there be To the 25: 22 sinners that Day: The (angels) will say: "There is a barrier 25: 22 Forbidden (to you) altogether!" 25: 53 It is He Who has Let free the two bodies Of flowing water: 25: 53 One palatable and sweet, And the other salt And bitter; yet has 25: 53 He Made a barrier between them, A partition that is forbidden To 25: 53 be passed. 31: 17 "O my son! establish Regular prayer, enjoin what is Just and forbid 31: 17 what is wrong: And bear with patient constancy Whate'er betide 31: 17 thee; for this Is firmness (of purpose) In the (conduct of) affairs 33: 51 Thou mayest defer (the turn Of) any of them that thou Pleasest, 33: 51 and thou mayest receive Any thou pleasest: and there Is no 33: 51 blame on thee if Thou invite one whose(turn) Thou hadst set aside 33: 51 This were nigher to The cooling of their eyes The prevention of 33: 51 their grief, And their satisfaction That of all of them -With 33: 51 that which thou Hast to give them: And Allah knows (all) That 33: 51 is in your hearts: And Allah is All-Knowing, Most Forbearing. 35: 41 It is Allah Who sustains The heavens and the earth, Lest they 35: 41 cease (to function): And if they should fail, There is none -not 35: 41 one- Can sustain them thereafter : Verily He is Most Forbearing; 35: 41 Oft-Forgiving. 37:101 So We gave him The good news Of a boy ready To suffer and forbear: 40: 66 Say:"I have been forbidden To invoke those whom ye Invoke besides 40: 66 Allah,- seeing that The Clear Signs have come To me from my Lord; 40: 66 And I have been commanded To bow (in Islam) To the Lord of 40: 66 the Worlds." 50: 25 "Who forbade what was good, Transgressed all bounds, Cast 50: 25 doubts and suspicions; 56: 33 Whose season is not limited, Nor (supply) forbidden, 58: 8 Turnest thou not thy sight Towards those who were Forbidden secret 58: 8 counsels Yet revert to that which They were forbidden (to do)? 58: 8 And they hold secret counsels Among themselves for iniquity And 58: 8 hostility and disobedience To the Apostle. And when They come to 58: 8 thee They salute thee, Not as Allah salutes thee, (But in crooked 58: 8 ways): And they say to themselves, "Why does not Allah Punish us 58: 8 for our words ?" Enough for them is Hell: In it will they burn, 58: 8 And evil is that destination! 60: 8 Allah forbids you not, With regard to those who Fight you not for 60: 8 (your) Faith Nor drive you out Of your homes, Form dealing kindly 60: 8 and justly With them: for Allah loveth Those who are just. 60: 9 Allah only forbids you, With regard to those who Fight you for 60: 9 (your) Faith, And drive you out Of your homes, and support 60: 9 (Others) in driving you out, From turning to them (For friendship 60: 9 and protection). It is such as turn to them (In these 60: 9 circumstances), That do wrong. 64: 17 If ye loan to Allah A beautiful loan, He Will double it to Your 64: 17 (credit), and He Will grant you Forgiveness : For Allah is most 64: 17 Ready To appreciate (service), Most Forbearing,- 66: 1 O Prophet! Why Holdest thou to be forbidden That which Allah 66: 1 has Made lawful to thee? Thou seekest to please Thy consorts. But 66: 1 Allah Is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 96: 9 Seest thou one Who forbids-

LAW

STRING = LAW

2: 93 And remember We took Your Covenant and we raised Above you (the 2: 93 towering height) Of Mount (sinai): (Saying): "Hold firmly To what 2: 93 We have given you And hearken (to the Law)": They said: "We hear, 2: 93 And we disobey": And they had to drink Into their hearts (Of the 2: 93 taint) of the Calf Because of their Faithlessness. Say: "Vile 2: 93 indeed Are the behests of your Faith If ye have any faith!" 2:168 O ye people! Eat of what is on earth, Lawful and good; And do not 2:168 follow The footsteps of the Evil One, For he is to you An avowed 2:168 enemy. 2:178 O ye who believe! The law of equality Is prescribed to you In cases 2:178 of murder: The free for the free, The slave for the slave, The 2:178 woman for the woman. But if any remission Is made by the brother Of 2:178 the slain, then grant Any reasonable demand, And compensate him 2:178 With handsome gratitude; This is a concession And a Mercy From your 2:178 Lord. After this whoever Exceeds the limits Shall be in great 2:178 penalty. 2:179 In the Law of Equality There is (saving of) Life To you, O ye men 2:179 of understanding! That ye may Restrain yourselves. 2:194 The prohibited month For the prohibited month,- And so for all 2:194 things prohibited,- There is the law of equality. If then anyone 2:194 transgresses The prohibition against you, Transgress ye likewise 2:194 Against him. But fear Allah, and know That Allah is with those Who 2:194 restrain themselves. 2:228 Divorced women Shall wait concerning themselves For three monthly 2:228 periods. Nor is it lawful for them To hide what Allah Hath created 2:228 in their wombs, If they have faith In Allah and the Last Day. And 2:228 their husbands Have the better right To take them back In that 2:228 period, if They wish for reconciliation. And women shall have 2:228 rights Similar to the rights Against them, according To what is 2:228 equitable; But men have a degree (Of advantage) over them. And 2:228 Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise. 2:228 SECTION 29. 2:229 A divorce is only Permissible twice: after that, The parties should 2:229 either hold Together on equitable terms Or separate with kindness. 3: 3 It is He Who sent down To thee (step by step), In truth, the Book 3: 3 Confirming what went before it: And He sent down Law (OF Moses) and 3: 3 the Gospel (Of Jesus) before this, As a guide to mankind, And He 3: 3 sent down the Criterion (Of judgment between right and wrong). 3: 48 "And Allah will teach him The Book and Wisdom, The Law and the 3: 48 Gospel, 3: 50 "'(I have come to you), To attest the Law Which was before me, And 3: 50 to make lawful To you part of what was (Before) forbidden to you; 3: 50 I have come to you With a Sign from your Lord, So fear Allah, And 3: 50 obey me. 3: 65 Ye People of the Book! Why dispute ye About Abraham, When the Law 3: 65 and the Gospel Were not revealed Till after him? Have ye no 3: 65 understanding? 3: 93 All food was lawful To the Children of Israel, Except what Israel 3: 93 Made unlawful for itself, Before the Law (of Moses) Was revealed 3: 93 Say: "Bring ye the Law And study it, If ye be men of truth." 4: 24 Also (prohibited are) Women already married, Except those Whom your 4: 24 right hands possess. Thus hath Allah ordained (Prohibitions) 4: 24 against you: Except for these, all others Are lawful, provided Ye 4: 24 seek (them in marriage) With gifts from your property,- Desiring 4: 24 chastity, not lust. Seeing that ye derive Benefit from them, give 4: 24 them Their dowers (at least) As prescribed; but if, After a dower 4: 24 is prescribed, ye agree Mutually (to vary it), There is no blame on 4: 24 you, And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise. 4:160 For the iniquity of the Jews We made unlawful for them Certain 4:160 (foods) good and wholesome Which had been lawful for them;- In that 4:160 they hindered many From Allah's Way;- 4:176 They ask thee For a legal decision. Say: Allah directs (thus) About 4:176 those who leave No descendants or ascendants As heirs. If it is a 4:176 man 681 That dies, leaving a sister But no child, she shall Have 4:176 half the inheritance: If (such a deceased was) A woman, who left no 4:176 child, Her brother takes her inheritance: If there are two sisters, 4:176 They shall have two-thirds Of the inheritance (Between them): if 4:176 there are Brothers and sisters, (they share), The male having twice 4:176 The share of the female. Thus doth Allah make clear To you (His 4:176 law), lest Ye err. And Allah Hath knowledge of all things. 5: 5 They ask thee what is Lawful to them (as food): say: Lawful unto 5: 5 you Are (all) things good and pure: And what ye have taught Your 5: 5 trained hunting animals (To catch) in the manner Directed to you 5: 5 by Allah: Eat what they catch for you, But pronounce the name Of 5: 5 Allah over it: and fear Allah; for Allah is swift In taking 5: 5 account. 5: 6 This day are (all) things Good and pure made lawful Unto you. The 5: 6 food Of the People of the Book Is lawful unto you And yours is 5: 6 lawful Unto them. (Lawful unto you in marriage) Are (not only) 5: 6 chaste women Who are believers, but Chaste women among The People 5: 6 of the Book, Reaveled before your time,- when ye give them Their 5: 6 due dowers, and desire Chastity, not lewdness, Nor secret 5: 6 intrigues. If anyone rejects faith, Fruitless is his work, And in 5: 6 the Hereafter He will be in the ranks Of those who have lost (All 5: 6 spiritual good). 5: 6 SECTION 2. 5: 46 But why do they come To thee for decision, When they have (their 5: 46 own) Laws before them?- Therein is the (plain) Command of Allah; 5: 46 yet Even after that, they would Turn away. For they Are not 5: 46 (really) People of Faith. 5: 46 SECTION 7. 5: 47 It was We Who revealed The Law (to Moses); therein Was guidance and 5: 47 light. 5: 49 And in their footsteps We sent Jesus the son Of Mary, confirming 5: 49 The Law that had come Before him: We sent him The Gospel: therein 5: 49 Was guidance and light, And confirmation of the Law That had come 5: 49 before him: A guidance and an admonition To those who fear Allah. 5: 51 To thee We sent the Scripture In truth, confirming The scripture 5: 51 that came Before it, and guarding it In safety; so judge Between 5: 51 them by what Allah hath revealed And follow not their vain Desires, 5: 51 diverging From the Truth that hath come To thee. To each among you 5: 51 Have We prescribed a Law And an Open Way. If Allah had so willed, 5: 51 He would haave made you A single People, but (His Plan is) to test 5: 51 you in what He hath given you: so strive As in a race in all 5: 51 virtues. The goal of you all is to Allah; It is He that will show 5: 51 you The truth of the matters In which ye dispute: 5: 66 Why donot the Rabbis And the doctors of laws forbid Them from their 5: 66 (habit Of) uttering sinful words And eating things forbidden? Evil 5: 66 indeed are their works. 5: 69 SECTION 10. 5: 71 Say: "O People of the Book! Ye have no ground To stand upon unless 5: 71 Ye stand fast by the Law, The Gospel, and all the revelation That 5: 71 has come to you from Your Lord." It is the revelation That cometh 5: 71 to thee from Thy Lord, that increaseth in most Of them their 5: 71 obstinate Rebellion and blasphemy. But sorrow thou not Over (these) 5: 71 people without faith . 5: 90 O ye who believe! Make not unlawful The good things which Allah 5: 90 Hath made lawful for you, But commit no excess: For Allah loveth 5: 90 not Those given to excess. 5: 91 Eat of the things which Allah hath provided for you, Lawful and 5: 91 good: but fear Allah, in Whom ye believe. 5:110 But if it gets known That these two were guilty Of the sin (of 5:110 perjury), Let two others stand forth In their places,- nearest In 5:110 kin from among those Who claim a lawful right: Let them swear 5:110 by Allah: "We affirm that our witness is truer than that Of those 5:110 two, and that we Have not trespassed (beyond The truth): if we did, 5:110 Behold! the wrong be Upon us!" 5:113 Then will Allah say: "O Jesus the son of Mary! Recount My favour To 5:113 thee and to thy mother. Behold! I strengthened thee With the holy 5:113 spirit, So that thou didst speak To the people in childhood And in 5:113 maturity. 817 Behold! I taught thee The Book and Wisdom,The Law and 5:113 the Gospel. And behold! thou makest Out of clay, as it were, The 5:113 figure of a bird, By My leave, And thou breathest into it, And it 5:113 becometh a bird By My leave, And thou healest those Born blind, and 5:113 the lepers By My leave. And behold! thou Bringest forth the dead 5:113 By My leave. And behold! I did Restrain the Children of Israel From 5:113 (violence to) thee When thou didst show them The Clear Signs, And 5:113 the unbelievers among them Said: 'This is nothing But evident 5:113 magic.' 6: 75 So also did We show Abraham the power And the laws of the heavens 6: 75 And the earth, that he Might (with understanding) Have certitude. 6:151 Say: "Come, I will rehearse What Allah hath (really) Prohibited you 6:151 from": join not Anything as equal with Him; Be good to your 6:151 parents: Kill not your children On a plea of want;- We Provide 6:151 sustenance for you And for them;- come not Nigh to shameful deeds, 6:151 Whether open or secret; Take not life, which Allah Hath made 6:151 sacred, except By way of justice and law: Thus doth He command you, 6:151 That ye may learn wisdom. 7: 54 Your Guardian-Lord Is Allah, Who created The heavens and the earth 7: 54 In six Days, and is firmly Established on the Throne (Of 7: 54 authority): He draweth The night as a veil O'er the day, each 7: 54 seeking The other in rapid succession: He created the sun, The 7: 54 moon, and the stars, (All) governed by laws Under His Command, Is 7: 54 it not His to create And to govern? Blessed Be Allah, the Cherisher 7: 54 And Sustainer of the Worlds! 7:145 And We ordained laws For him in the Tablets In all matters, both 7:145 Commanding and explaining All things, (and said): "Take and hold 7:145 these With firmness, and enjoin Thy people to hold fast By the best 7:145 in the precepts: Soon shall I show you The homes of the wicked,- 7:145 (How they lie desolate)." 7:157 "Those who follow the Apostle, The unlettered Prophet, Whom they 7:157 find mentioned In their own (Scriptures);- In the Law and the 7:157 Gospel; For he commands them What is just and forbids them What 7:157 is evil: he allows Them as lawful what is good (And pure) and 7:157 prohibits them From what is bad (and impure); He releases them From 7:157 their heavy burdens And from the yokes That are upon them. So it 7:157 is those who believe In him, honour him, Help him, and follow the 7:157 Light Which is sent down with him,- It is they who will prosper. 7:157 SECTION 20. 8: 69 But (now) enjoy what ye took In war, lawful and good: But fear 8: 69 Allah: for Allah Is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 8: 69 SECTION 10. 9: 37 Verily the transposing (Of a prohibited month) Is an addition to 9: 37 Unbelief: The Unbelievers are led To wrong thereby : for they 9: 37 make It lawful one year And forbidden another year In order to 9: 37 adjust the number Of months forbidden by Allah And Make such 9: 37 forbidden ones Lawful. The evil of their course Seems pleasing to 9: 37 them But Allah guideth not Those who reject Faith 9: 37 SECTION 6. 9:111 Allah hath purchased of the Believers Their persons and their 9:111 goods; For theirs (in return) Is the Garden (of Paradise): They 9:111 fight in His Cause, And slay and are slain: A promise binding on 9:111 Him In Truth, through the Law, The Gospel, and the Qur-an : And who 9:111 is more faithful To his Covenant than Allah? Then rejoice in the 9:111 bargain Which ye have concluded: That is the achievement supreme. " 12: 76 So he began (the search) With their baggage, Before (he came to) 12: 76 the baggage Of his brother: at length He brought it out of his 12: 76 Brother's baggage. Thus did We Plan for Joseph. He could not 12: 76 Take his brother by the law Of the king except that Allah Willed 12: 76 it (so). We raise To degrees (of wisdom ) whom We please :but 12: 76 over all Endued with knowledge is One, The All-Knowing. 13: 2 Allah is He Who raised The heavens without any pillars That ye 13: 2 can see; is firmly Established on the throne (of Authority); 13: 2 He has subjected the sun And the moon (to His Law)! Each one runs 13: 2 (its course) For a term appointed. He doth regulate affairs, 13: 2 Explaining the Signs in detail, That ye may believe with 13: 2 certainty In the meeting with your Lord. 16:114 So eat of the sustenance Which Allah has provided For you, lawful 16:114 and good; And be grateful for the favours Of Allah, if it is He 16:114 Whom ye serve. 16:116 But say not- for any false thing That your tongues may put forth,- 16:116 "This is lawful,and this Is forbidden,"so as to ascribe False 16:116 things to Allah. For those Who ascribe false things To Allah 16:116 will never prosper. 17: 33 Nor take life- which Allah Has made sacerd-except For just cause. 17: 33 And if Anyone is slain wrongfully We have given his heir Authority 17: 33 (to demand Qisas.Or to forgive): but let him Not exceed bounds 17: 33 in the matter Of taking life; for he Is helped (by the Law). 22: 30 Such (is the Pilgrimage ): Whoever honours the sacred Rites of 22: 30 God, for him It is good in the sight Of his Lord. Lawful to you 22: 30 (For food in Pilgrimage) are cattle Except those mentioned to 22: 30 you (As exceptions): but shun The abomination of idols, And shun 22: 30 the word That is false,- 29: 61 If indeed thou ask them Who has created the heavens And the 29: 61 earth and subjected The sun and the moon (To His Law), they 29: 61 will Certainly reply,"Allah." How are they then deluded Away 29: 61 (from the truth)? 31: 29 Seest thou not that Allah merges Night into Day And He merges 31: 29 Day into Night; That He has subjected the sun And the moon 31: 29 (to His Law), Each running its course For a term appointed; and 31: 29 That Allah is well-acquainted With all that ye do? 33: 50 O Prophet! We have Made lawful to thee Thy wives to whom thou Hast 33: 50 paid their dowers; And those whom thy Right hand possesses out of 33: 50 The prisoners of war whom Allah has assigned to thee; And daughters 33: 50 of thy paternal Uncles and aunts, and daughters Of thy maternal 33: 50 uncles And aunts who migrated (From Mecca) with thee; And any 33: 50 believing woman Who dedicates her soul To the Prophet if the 33: 50 Prophet Wishes to wed her; -this Only for thee and not For the 33: 50 Believers (at large); We know what We have Appointed for them 33: 50 as to Their wives and the captives Whom their right hands Possess; 33: 50 -in order that There should be no difficulty For thee. And 33: 50 Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 33: 52 It is not lawful for thee (To marry more) women After this nor 33: 52 to change Them for (other) wives Even though their beauty Attract 33: 52 thee, except any Thy right hand should Possess (as hand-maidens): 33: 52 And Allah doth watch Over all things. 33: 52 SECTION 7. 35: 13 He merges Night into Day, And He merges Day Into Night, and He has 35: 13 Subjected the sun and The moon (to His Law): Each one runs its 35: 13 course For a term appointed. Such is Allah your Lord: To Him 35: 13 belongs all Dominion. And those whom ye invoke Besides Him have not 35: 13 The least power. 36: 40 It is not permitted To the Sun to catch up The Moon, nor can The 36: 40 night outstrip the Day: Each (just) swims along In (its own) 36: 40 orbit (According to Law). 39: 5 He created the heavens And the earth In true (proportions): 39: 5 He makes the Night Overlap the Day, and the Day Overlap the 39: 5 Night: He has subjected The sun and the moon (To His law) Each 39: 5 one follows a course For a time appointed. Is not He the Exalted 39: 5 In Power-he Who forgives Again and again? 50: 6 Do they not look At the sky above them?- How We have made it And 50: 6 adorned it, And there are no Flaws in it? 50: 32 (A voice will say:) "This is what was Promised for you,- For 50: 32 everyone who turned (To Allah) in sincere repentance Who kept 50: 32 (His Law), 60: 10 O ye who believe ! When there come to you Believing women refugees, 60: 10 Examine (and test) them : Allah knows best as to Their Faith: 60: 10 if ye ascertain That they are Believers, Then send them not back 60: 10 To the Unbelievers. They are not lawful (wives) For the 60: 10 Unbelievers, nor are The (Unbelievers) lawful (husbands) For them 60: 10 But pay The Unbelievers what they Have spent( on their dower). And 60: 10 there will be no blame On you if ye marry them On payment of 60: 10 their dower To them. But hold not To the guardianship of 60: 10 Unbelieving women: ask For what ye have spent On their dowers, 60: 10 and let The (Unbelievers) ask for What they have spent (On the 60: 10 dowers of women Who come over to you). Such is the command Of 60: 10 Allah: He judges (With justice) between you: And Allah is Full of 60: 10 Knowledge and Wisdom. 61: 6 And remember, Jesus The son of Mary, said: "O Children of Israel! 61: 6 I am the apostle of Allah (Sent) to you confirming The Law 61: 6 (which came) Before me, and giving Glad Tidings of an Apostle To 61: 6 come after me, Whose name shall be Ahmad." But when he came to 61: 6 them With Clear Signs, They said," This is Evident sorcery!" 62: 5 The similitude of those Who were charged With the (obligations 62: 5 of the) Mosaic Law, But who subsequently failed In those 62: 5 (obligations), is That of a donkey Which carries huge tomes 62: 5 (But understands them not). Evil is the similitude Of people who 62: 5 falsify The Signs of Allah: And Allah guides not People who 62: 5 do wrong. 66: 1 O Prophet! Why Holdest thou to be forbidden That which Allah 66: 1 has Made lawful to thee? Thou seekest to please Thy consorts. But 66: 1 Allah Is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 67: 3 He Who created The seven heavens One above another; No want of 67: 3 proportion Wilt thou see In the Creation Of (Allah) Most Gracious. 67: 3 So turn thy vision again: Seest thou any flaw? 87: 3 Who hath ordained laws And granted guidance; 98: 3 Wherein are laws (or decrees) Right and straight.
