In looking over Jannie's Marriage License, when She married John Balasio,there are some discrepances in the spelling of their names. John's name is spelled Loter Palasyo and Jannie Tueten is spelled Janie Tooten.We know that John wanted an Americanized name when He came to this country so he changed it.The spelling of His last name is a puzzle.The names on the license seem to be signatures, which would give them some validity .

Jannie married John Balasio on Jan 19, 1882 in Chatham County , Georgia.

John was of Greek ancestry.He was the first husband of Jannie and the father of eleven children, all girls except for one boy, by Jannie . They only raised four of them, the others died young.John followed the carnival circuit and worked as a candy maker, for this reason His children were born all over the country.After looking over John's and Jannie's marriage license there seems to be some discrepances in the spelling of John and Jannie's names.We know that John wanted an Americanized name , one that would be easy to pronounce.His Marriage License has the spelling of His name Loter Palasyo of Athens, Greece. Jannie's name is spelled Janie Tooten and not Tueten.Maybe this will clear its self up latter.

+ 5 F    iii. Ellen Balasio Moliere was born on Feb 7, 1884 in Troy , Alabama, died in Feb in Oglethorpe Sanatorium Savannah , Georgia and was buried Hillcrest Cemetery in Savannah , Georgia

   7 F    v. Cleopatra Balasio was born on Nov 14, 1885 in Troy , Alabama and died on Aug 27, 1886.

   8 F    vi. Annie Balasio was born on Jul 27, 1887 in Yazoo City , Mississippi and died on Aug 11, 1887.

   9 F    vii. Hericly Balasio was born on Aug 14, 1888 in Marshall , Texas and died on Jan 14, 1903.

   10 M    viii. John Balasio was born on Feb 6, 1891 in Brunswick , Georgia and died on Apr 28, 1891.

Jannie also married Peter [ Leocockrus ] Elliott. (Peter [ Leocockrus ] Elliott was buried Boniventure or Laurel Grove Cemetery in Savanah , Georgia.)

Peter was of Greek Ancestry and changed His name to an easier one to pronounce,From Leocockrus to Elliott.
