Philip was a member of Ashland Baptist Church for 36 Years prior to His death.He was a Truck Farmer all of His life as His father before Him was.They sold their Produce on the Richmond,Virginia market,17Th.street & also the 6 Th. Street Market.
Research Notes:
Phillip was the youngest son of Ballard and Martha Kersey .He stayed at home with His Mother and Father and at the death of His Father 9/13/1880, he took over the family farm.One year after his father's death He married Emma King 9/13/1881and they raised their family on the farm He was born on. They had eight children. After his death 1/20/1905, the family gradually left the farm and no one from the family lived on it until 6/1959 when his grandson , the son of Stuart Ashby Kersey Sr., John Phillip Kersey Sr.and his family returned.They built a new home as the old home place had totally collapsed.

Philip went to bed early the night of His death.His wife Emma was down stairs doing some ironing and when She got through She went to bed only to find him cold. He had died that quick with no sound from Him.He died at age 56 years.

Philip married Emma Cornelia King Kersey, daughter of William [Bill] Jordan King Sr and Maria Jenny Cosby King, on Sep 13, 1881 in Residence Of The Bride Hanover, Virginia. (Emma Cornelia King Kersey was born on Jan 27, 1863 in Hanover County, Virginia, died on May 30, 1929 in 2321 Floyd Avenue Richmond, Virginia and was buried in Riverview Cemetery in Richmond, Virginia.) The cause of her death was heart Attack at age 66. She died Quitely at 9:00 A.M. May 30 1929.
