Notes by Phil Kersey: I saw very little of my grandfather during our life time together. He lived in south Richmond and I lived with My family across the river in northside Richmond. Neither had transportation .Note: What is now considered South Richmond was ,prior to 1910 Manchester,Virginia and was annexed to Richmond in 1910. The Decatur Street Methodist Church was first , The 5th. Street Methodist Church and then McGuire Park Methodist Church.

From Charlie Williams: John Wesley Childress's marriage license shows that he was born in Chesterfield Co.,Virginia . The family bible shows New Kent Co.,Virginia

John married Effie Lush Childress, daughter of Israel Lush and Ellen Bolton Lush, on Sep 29, 1886 in Home Of The Bride. (Effie Lush Childress was born on Jan 22, 1870 in Eramosa Township, Wellington Co., Onterio, Canada, died on Apr 22, 1940 in Richmond, Va and was buried maury Cemetery in Richmond, Va.)

John was 26 Years of age when married ,Effie was 16 Years of age.They had eleven children.
