ORANGE, Jan 11 - Charles Hartley Smith, 38, of Orange, a zone manager for International Harvester Co., died Wednesday at a Richmond hospital. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dorothy H. Smith; two daughters, Miss Martha Scott Smith of Orange and Miss Jacqueline Ann Smith of Richmond: his mother, Mrs. Mary Gay Smith of Richmond, and a brother, Lloyd G. Smith of Yardville, N.J. Mr. Smith was a native of Richmond and a graduate of John Marshall High School and Randolph - Macon College. A funeral service will be held at 3:30 P.M. Friday at Orange Baptist Church with burial in Graham Cemetery here. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Heart Fund.

Hartley married Dorthy Howard Smith.

Hartley also married Barbra Irma Smith Hill.
