Stuart Ashby Kersey Sr.

   Cause of his death was Cornary Thrombosis, A blood clot went to His lung and killed Him.

   General Notes:

Stuart lived at 702 Gladstone Avenue Richmond,Virginia at the time of His death. He was employed by Richmond Dairy Co. as a route salesman. He had at one time been a truck driver for Carter Brothers Trucking Co.and an insurance salesman for Prudential Life Insurance Co..Stuart was a member of Barton Heights Baptist Church at the time of his death.
After Phillip was born and Alene was still confined to the bed,she had visitors. One being Emma King,the wife of Daddy's Uncle, Grant King.Also in the room was Aunt Ruth who had come to assist Daddy in aiding Alene if need be. At some earlier date Daddy had given Emma some of His home made grape wine and she proceeded to tell him how much she had enjoyed it. Aunt Ruth heard it all said nothing at the time but when Emma and Grant had gone she unloaded on Daddy and as a result Daddy had to destroy all of His wine making crocks and promise never to make Wine again. Alene said he kept his promise and never made wine again.

   Medical Notes:

Stuart had Whooping cough real bad when He was a child. In His childhood He had the symptoms of what was later determined to be Rumatic Fever,also He had Scarlet Fever twice. All of this,it was thought ,caused Him to have an enlarged heart which contributed to His untimely death at the age of 38 Years. His job did not help Him at all I am sure .He had a milk delivery route on Grace and also Franklin Sts. in Richmond. In this area there are mostly apartment buildings with a lot of steps to climb.

Stuart married Alene Bolton Childress Kersey Clarke, daughter of John Wesley Childress Sr. and Effie Lush Childress, on Jan 1, 1925 in Richmond, Virginia. (Alene Bolton Childress Kersey Clarke was born on May 5, 1900 in 6 Th. & Stockton St. Richmond, VA and was baptized on Dec 9, 1900 in 5th.Street Methodist Church, Manchester, Virginia.)
