The New Las Vegas Buttonmen Playtest Results and Reporting
Playtest Reporting
If you playtest any of the New Las Vegas fighters, please let me know the results.
Be sure to include which Swing and/or Option Dice were used.
(If you play with Pai Gow, Black Jack, or Shamrock, please include the dice used
(a or b).
The 'standard' playtesting procedure, apparently, is to play new button against
Bauer, Shore, and Stark. Any data you can provide matching the new fighters up
against any of these three 'standard' ones would be appreciated.
Playtest Reporting
| 5/29/00 - Concern: The Pit Boss completely outdoes Crusher and possibly Jellybean. | |
| Pit Boss | Crusher |
| U = d24 1 | X = d20 1 |
| U = d24 0 | X = d17 1 |
| U = d22 1 | X = d17 0 |
| U = d22 1 | X = d20 0 |
| 5/29/00 - Concern: The Pit Boss completely outdoes Crusher and possibly Jellybean. | |
| Pit Boss | Jellybean |
| U = d24 0 | V = d12, X = d4 2 |
| U = d30 0 | V = d12, X = d4 2 |
| U = d8 0 | V = d12, X = d4 1 |
| Jellybean's Poison Die just ripped up on The Pit Boss. | |
| 6/9/00. | |
| The Magician | Starchylde |
| Using Trick 3 (cut an opening roll in half) T=d6 2 |
X=d20 0 |
| Trick 3, T=d6 2 |
X=d10 1 |
| Trick 3, T=d6 1 |
X=d6 2 |
| 6/9/00. | |
| The Magician | Eiko |
| No tricks T=d6 3 |
X=d12 0 |
| No tricks T=d6 1 |
X=d6 4 |
| Trick 1 (extra Bunny (d1)), T=d6 3 |
X=d6 1 |
| Well this was what I had hoped for, the Magician loses fairly consistantly (to someone using the 'correct' swing die) unless he uses a trick. | |
| 6/20/00 | |
| The Professor | The Magician |
| T0=d6 0 | T=d10 1 |
| T0=d5 1 | T=d10 3 |
| Well that was disappointing - The Prof couldn't beat the Magician even when he wasn't using any tricks. Let's change opponents... | |
| 6/26/00. | |
| The Magician | Bennett |
| Trick 4 (First capture counts 0) T=d8 1 |
S=d20 0 |
| Trick 4 T=d8 0 |
S=d12 3 |
| Trick 4 T=d12 0 |
S=d12 1 |
| Bennett's two d20 Speed dice just destroyed the Magician. | |
| 6/26/00. | |
| The Magician | Chastity |
| Trick 4 (First capture counts 0) T=d12 2 |
X=d20 1 |
| 6/15/00. | |
| Showgirl | Dunkirk |
| T=d10, U=d12 1 |
X=d20 0 |
| T=d10, U=d12 0 |
X=d18 1 |
| T=d10, U=d10 1 |
X=d18 0 |
| T=d10, U=d10 1 |
X=d10 1 |
| T=d8, U=d8 2 |
X=d10 0 |
| T=d8, U=d8 0 |
X=d8 2 |
| It looks like a pretty even match here. | |
| 6/16/00. | |
| Showgirl | Faith |
| T=d4, U=d20 1 |
Y=d6 0 |
| T=d4, U=d20 1 |
Y=d20 0 |
| T=d4, U=d20 3 |
Y=d12, 'correct' 1 |
| Faith just plain ol' couldn't get initiative. | |
| 10/11/00. | |
| Showgirl | Nikolai |
| T=d2, U=d30 2 |
20 4 12 6 6 1 |
| T=d2, U=d30 1 |
20 4 12 10 6 1 |
| Nobody looks overpowered to me. | |
| 6/9/00. | |
| Pai Gow | Crusher |
| 0 | X=d12 2 |
| and neither of these were close. I guess Pai Gow isn't as much of a killer as previously thought. | |
| 6/9/00. | |
| Pai Gow | Hope |
| 2 | Y=d10 0 |
| 2 | Y=d6 1 |
| That Pai Gow attack is pretty nasty any time he gets to go first. | |
| 5/29/00 | |
| Pai Gow | Wildcard |
| 3 | 3 |
| 6/1/00 | |
| Black Jack | Bennett |
| T=d2 0 | X=d10 1 |
| T=d10 0 | X=d10 1 |
| In both cases, Bennett's Speed Dice just ripped Black Jack up. | |
| 6/1/00 | |
| Black Jack | Crusher |
| T = d10 0 | X=d6 2 |
| 5/29/00 | |
| The Professor | Black Jack |
| T = d4 1 | 5 |
| 6/16/00 | |
| Craps | Lucky |
| T=d4 5 | X=d17 1 |
| Let's see 2/3(60-41)= 12.someodd. So a d17 is 'correct'. Too bad Craps was almost always able to keep two of his Twin Dice. Lucky even got intiative most of the time. (And Lucky is such a nice girl too.) | |
| 6/16/00 | |
| Craps | Dixie |
| T=d4 1 | X=d15 5 |
| This and the Craps/Lucky matchup make think that Craps is just about 'right'. | |
| 6/1/00 | |
| The Professor | Crusher |
| Starting T = d2 2 | X=d6 2 |
| After the Prof vs BlackJack and Crusher vs BlackJack,
we didn't expect much from the Prof, but Crusher had a tough time keeping enough dice to win.
| 5/29/00 | |
| The Professor | Black Jack |
| T = d4 1 | 5 |
| 6/20/00 | |
| The Professor | The Magician |
| T0=d6 0 | T=d10 1 |
| T0=d5 1 | T=d10 3 |
| Well that was disappointing - The Prof couldn't beat the Magician even when he wasn't using any tricks. Let's change opponents... | |
| 6/20/00 | |
| The Professor | Prudence |
| T0=d12 1 | X=d10 0 |
| T0=d12 4 | X=d9 1 |
| Well that's better. | |
| 6/23/00 | |
| The Professor | Lancelot |
| T0=d12 1 | X=d20 0 |
| T0=d12 0 | X=d10 1 |
| T0=d10 1 | X=d10 0 |
| T0=d10 1 | X=d8 0 |
| 6/1/00 | |
| Shamrock | Chastity |
| Option Dice=d7,d13,d13 3 | X=d20 1 |
| Then we used that handy dandy 2/3 (X-Y) formula to calculate a better Swing Die for Chastity. | |
| Option Dice=d7,d13,d13 1 | X=d12 6 |
| 6/14/00. By adjusting Shamrock's Option Dice to 7, 7, 7,
Chastity is forced to keep 8 sides to win (either a d10 or both d6's).
| Option Dice=d7,d7,d7 3 | X=d12 1 |
| 5/29/00 | |
| Pai Gow | Wildcard |
| 3 | 3 |
| 6/19/00 | |
| Wildcard | Buddy |
| 0 | X=d4 1 |
| 1 | X=d20 1 |
| 10/2/00 - Dave Chalker | |
| Wildcard | Vincent |
