Ptarmigan Traverse -- Thumbnails 2

Steve climbing the couloir up out of the Yang Yang Lakes area.

Topping out to say hello to Mt LeConte

Steve climb on Mt LeConte . . . (big picture)

But there's still more climbing for Steve . . .
and it drops off steep and dark deep below.

A chance for a rest . . .

 . . . by a lake.

Then back to climbing to the shoulder of Mt LeConte

. . . (big picture)

Looking back to Spider-Formidable col . . .

How did we get from there to here?

Mt Baker on the left, beyond the plain of low clouds.
Need more resolution . . . or imagination.

The way ahead to LeConte Glacier, with the usual Ptarmigan puzzle of
where next? . . . traverse, then turn to climb right . . . ?

Not so bad after all.

. . . (big picture)

And there's the LeConte glacier in full.
Just have to get through those crevasses,
and not slide down into the abyss first.

[ The next section of the trip is missing its photos
-- from South Cascade Glacier through White Rock Lakes
