(source: http://69.49.234.58/bible/pafg01.htm)

First Generation
1. Adam-1 was born in 3941 BC in Eden. He died in 3011 BC in East of Eden. He was buried in Hebron.
Genesis 2:7
According to Jewish sources, Adam was the first to choose the Cave of the Machpelah as his burial place “under and inside of the cave.” The Midrash reports:
Adam sat and pondered and he said :”For I know that You will return me to die and at meeting place of all living” (Job 30:23). “As long as I am still alive I will build a house outside of Mt. Moria. He dug and built himself a house. Then he thought, these tablets (the Ten Commandments) which will be written by the hand of G-d will chase away the waters of the Jordan river; my body-made by G-d’s own hands and given a soul by Him. After my death my body and my bones will be taken and be made into idolatry. So, therefore, I will bury my casket deep under and inside the cave. Therefore, the Cave is called the Cave of the Machpelah-The Multiple Cave and there is where they are: Adam and Eve, Abraham and Sara, Isaac and Rebecca, Jacob and Leah. And therefore it is called Kiryat Arba -the city of the four- because four couples were buried there.
The cave is in Hebron.

Adam married Eve-2. Eve was born in 3941 BC in Eden. She was buried in Hebron.
Genesis 2:23

4. Seth-5 (Adam) was born in 3811 BC in Eden. He died in 2899 BC.

Genesis 5:6 - Lived at the time when men began to "call upon the name of the Lord." They began to pray to God rather than placate unknown gods with sacrifices.

THE MINUTEMEN OF TEXAS by Bill Baze

The Republic of Texas in 1841 consisted many frontier counties. The army troops were almost non-existent and the militia was mostly ineffective. The Texas Congress authorized twenty frontier counties to organize "minutemen companies" under the jurisdiction of the county judge.

Texas Ranger, James Buckner (Buck) Barry wrote, "...every settler was a minuteman. In fact, every man in Texas was a soldier." As the name implied, these volunteers were expected to drop their work in an emergency and rush to the scene of action with little time wasted on musters and rules and regulations. They equipped themselves for each occasion "a good substantial horse, bridle and saddle...together with a good gun, and one hundred rounds of ammunition."

Congress expected these "minute companies" to be mustered only in times of extreme emergency, and the men were paid only for the days spent on actual service, with a maximum limit of four months duty per year.

Texas Rangers daily patrolled its section of the frontier to assure no Indians took a settlement by surprise. Barry wrote that if the rangers discovered Indians near a settlement the rangers were to beat them to the settlement and alert the minutemen of their coming. He stated the minutemen were really the army of Texas at that time.

John Coffee (Jack) Hays' ranger battalion was composed of "spy companies" that watched for the enemy and reported to the minutemen. No more than three rangers from a camp were ever out on patrol at the same time, and these men were to report to a prearranged rendezvous at the end of their areas of responsibility. If they failed to show it usually meant marauding Indians had "sent them under." The rangers were to avoid confrontation with the raiders as "no dead man could make a report to the minutemen."

On 20 March 1848 the State of Texas recognized the debt of the late Republic of Texas and authorized the Auditor and Comptroller to pay the balance of claims for minuteman service. On the first day of September 1851, Robert Rayford, my great grandfather, received a certificate for Thirteen Dollars and 50 cents as "balance of pay as a minuteman in 1841." It is signed by the Comptroller and Auditor recorded as Debt of the late Republic of Texas.
